Stephen Lantz releases instrumental 'High Sonority'

The songwriter and performer of music known as Stephen Lantz has released his latest instrumental single, “High Sonority.” The track has been proudly published independent of the mainstream, corporate music industry and distributed to more than 750 online music stores worldwide. A masterpiece of acoustic guitar work backed by vibrant bass lines and arranged with expert composition, “High Sonority” is an upbeat instrumental that sets a top-shelf standard of high sonority, indeed.

Stephen Lantz cites as main musical influences some of the best pop and rock artists of the 1960s and '70s, such as Peter, Paul and Mary, the Eagles, the Beatles, Willie Nelson, John Denver, and the Grateful Dead. Fans of these will appreciate the precision with which Lantz plays, a rare quality to find in new rock and pop music in recent years. His ear for planning chord progressions which sound natural yet unpredictable at the same time is also of note, marking him as an independent songwriter to watch closely. The artist responsible for “High Sonority” can clearly make music of this caliber at will.

Asked to comment on the inspiration for his latest release, Lantz writes, “My goal in recording songs is to provide listeners with an uplifting and enjoyable experience. My music is melodic, but sometimes a little off the beaten path. I want to produce unpretentious instrumental music for down-to-earth people. My musical message is that I want music to brighten the day for my listeners!”

That “High Sonority” succeeds in this should not come as a surprise when one considers Lantz's pedigree, as well as his veteran status as a longtime live player.

“My father played guitar and sang cowboy songs really well,” writes Lantz, “and my mom was a good pianist and singer — that hooked me on music. I started by loving Peter, Paul and Mary way back in high school.”

Before long, Lantz wasn't just listening. He dove in and became part of the music. “I played in a band for many years in college and after,” he writes. “We did light rock, rock and roll, Beatles, some blues, some country and even a little bluegrass.”

Now, years later, Lantz is airing his talents to the world at large and the scene is that much better for him. He writes, “I'm not doing gigs anymore so I wanted to stay in music by recording acoustic pieces.”

Here's hoping he stays in a long, long time.

“High Sonority” by Stephen Lantz is available online worldwide beginning 2 April 2015.

Metal duo Remnants of Winter release debut LP 'Remnants of Winter'

The writers and performers of heavy metal known as Remnants of Winter have released their debut self-titled LP record, “Remnants of Winter.” The record has been proudly published as an independent release without the interference of the corporate music infrastructure. The album comprises eight original tracks for approximately 30 minutes listening time. Melodic, evocative, and boasting equal parts aggression and imagination, “Remnants of Winter” by Remnants of Winter is a striking example of metal's relentless spirit in sheer and undeniable force.

Remnants of Winter cite as main artistic influences Taake, Wintersun, Burzum, Ulver, Amesoeurs, Uaral, Woods of Ypres, Jesu, Peste Noire, and Alcest. Their own style and tone shares qualities with all these, though the real power of their music comes from a rare mix of pain, strength, and darkness.

The heart of Remnants of Winter are a duo from New York and New Jersey respectively, Joe Cantamessa (instruments) and Matt Storm (vocals and lyrics). The interaction and camaraderie between them forms the crux of what differentiates Remnants from other popular independent metal groups of today, as does the unusual, unfortunate circumstances surrounding the inception of their project.

Asked to describe the themes of their “Remnants of Winter” LP, they list: “Near-death experience. Chronic pain and illness. Anxiety. Drug addiction. Alcoholism. Escapism through ritual and fantasy. Multiverse theory. Chaos. Hope for peace after an epic journey. A modern-day telling of an epic hero's journey to live on a day-to-day basis while struggling with disease, wrapped in a timeless fantasy theme.”

The near-death experience they casually mention is not that of an imaginary person, but rather, that of Storm, himself. Their current bio includes that Cantamessa and Storm played live together in 2010-2011 while Cantamessa filled in for an absentee guitarist. In time that particular band broke up. It wasn't to be the most tragic part of Storm's year.

Storm was diagnosed with a crippling stomach disorder and extreme anxiety shortly thereafter. His weight fell below 100 lbs. He nearly succumbed.

A temporary solution was implemented, however, which granted Storm a much-needed reprieve, and in 2013 he began talking with Cantamessa on a more regular basis over social media. Cantamessa had some songs written, the project for which he called Remnants of Winter. Their musical chemistry made them prolific, and in spite of a four-hour drive which made live sessions unlikely, they completed the resulting album by recording in separate home studios.

Their bio concludes with the following declaration: “Now with the release of 'Remnants of Winter''s debut album, and Matt's road to recovery having been successful thus far, who knows what the future holds for Remnants of Winter?”

Who knows, indeed? But one fact remains unimpeachable: the arresting narration, staggering creativity, and soul-wrenching sonic currents thrumming in the “Remnants of Winter” LP stand as rock-hard evidence that metal music can be a frighteningly sharp sword that heals.

“Remnants of Winter” by Remnants of Winter is available online worldwide beginning 31 March 2015.

Sonus Mortis releases new LP 'War Prophecy'

The mastermind of melodic death metal internationally known as Sonus Mortis has released his latest LP record album, “War Prophecy.” The LP has been independently published without the managerial or financial support of the corporate music industry. Boasting 15 all-new, original tracks to slake the thirst of fans new and old, the collection offers approximately one full hour of the grittiest heavy metal the world has to offer. Brutal, richly imaginative and extremely well-orchestrated, “War Prophecy” from Sonus Mortis is an album no true death metal fan should go without.

Sonus Mortis cites as main artistic influences such titans of the scene as Dimmu Borgir, Fields of the Nephilim, Anathema, and Septic Flesh. A blend of these sounds forms the backbone of Sonus Mortis' own style, overall. However, Sonus Mortis is more kaleidoscopic and narrative in terms of composition and anthemic soundscapes, to say nothing of the equally evocative lyrics on “War Prophecy.”

Speaking of the general theme and motif of the “War Prophecy” LP, Sonus Mortis writes, “The album takes influence from the many conflicts both past and present to tell a three-part story of how a war comes to pass, both the war itself and the aftermath. The 'Death Prophet' in the story symbolizes war itself and is mentioned throughout. There are songs dealing with the morality, the humanity, the horrors and the insanity that war brings.”

Even without taking his freshman LP release, the equally intense “Propaganda Dream Sequence,” into consideration, Sonus Mortis is no newcomer to death metal. Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, he is an alumnus of the popular Irish melodic death metal band, Valediction, which was powerfully active from 2005-2011. The crew performed with bands such as Firewind, Amon Amarth, Thurisaz, Vreid, Desaster, Blaze Bayley, Wizard, Mael Mordha, Diamond Head, Cruachan, and Coldwar and a great many others.

Sonus Mortis records his music at the famous Trackmix Studios (Coldwar/Cruachan/Mael Mordha, et al) in Dublin. His first, three-track demo was freely released in July of 2013 and continues to collect hundreds of downloads. His debut LP record, “Propaganda Dream Sequence” was received with uproarious and uniform acclaim in the UK, Italy, Austria, USA, Germany, Poland, Japan, Switzerland, Singapore, and Russia, in addition to his home nation of Ireland. “War Prophecy” represents his most highly anticipated official release to date and has already garnered new Sonus Mortis fans from death-metal scenes around the world.

Hamilton All Star Jazz Band releases new LP 'Feelin' Good'

The great northern jazz collective known as the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band have released their latest LP record, “Feelin' Good.” The album has been published as an independent release and offers 11 classic jazz tracks for an approximate total listening time of 45 minutes. A sparkling potpourri of jazz, blues, and gospel songs from one of the most distinguished and best-loved ensembles ever founded, “Feelin' Good” by the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band is easily the most remarkable jazz LP to be released in spring of 2015.

Gershwin, Gillespie, Nat King Cole, Aretha Franklin – these names demonstrate the caliber of music played by the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band, who celebrated their 30th anniversary as a group in 2014. “Feelin' Good” features lead singer and soloist Candace Walkes. It is the ninth official studio production from the band.

“We mostly perform jazz standards,” writes board of directors president Dr. John Knechtel, “but we do at times perform new jazz compositions and suites written by our graduates.”

As one might infer from the word 'graduates,' the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band is not your everyday orchestra belting out big-band favorites. The organization has been home to nearly 1,000 young musicians in its history.

“Hamilton All Star Jazz Band is where future stars prepare for life,” Dr. Knechtel explains. “Many have gone on to lucrative careers, recording and touring with great bands and orchestras all over the world. Others have become legendary authors and arrangers of jazz and classical compositions for some of the world's best-known artists.”

Neither have these musicians gone unrewarded for their talents and performances.

“There have been dozens of nominees and winners of Juno and Grammy Awards, as well as multiple winners of local Hamilton Music Awards,” writes Dr. Knechtel.

Based in Hamilton, ON, the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band was started 31 years ago by Dr. Russ Weil. It is one of Canada's premier amateur big-band organizations. The Hamilton All Star Jazz Band have been regular performers at the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and played for Prime Ministers, Governor Generals, and even the Queen of England. At the request of the Federal Minister of Culture they have performed at the Canadian Ambassador to France's personal abode in France, as well as at the Juno Beach War Memorial in Normandy. The Hamilton All Star Jazz Band also headlined the spectacular performance at Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, France for the 400th anniversary of the naming of the Americas by the scholars of Ste. Die.

“Feelin' Good” by the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band will be available online worldwide starting 1 April 2015. Get in early, jazz fans.

J.S. Tolar releases new single 'Ghost Within'

The composer, producer and performer of epic-scale rock music known as J.S. Tolar has released his latest single, “Ghost Within.” The track has been proudly published as an independent release without the financial or managerial support of the corporate music industry. Boasting nearly 10 minutes of highly narrative and immersive music, “Ghost Within” from J.S. Tolar not only approaches the depth and scope of an EP in its own right, but easily succeeds as one of the most significant rock singles of Q1 2015 at large.

J.S. Tolar has cited as main artistic influences Dream Theater, Riverside, Lunatic Soul, Pineapple Thief, Porcupine Tree, and Katatonia. As might be inferred from this eclectic, distinguished list, his own music has a high amount of ambient texture and an even more prominently deliberate composition. Melodic, fecund, extremely atmospheric and approaching the epic scale of the great rock operas in terms of both storytelling and emotional impact, “Ghost Within” is as intriguing as it is immediately effective, as arresting as it is fascinating.

While “Ghost Within” is a satisfying sonic journey in itself, it is merely the first offering Tolar has made available from his upcoming record, “Endless War.”

“'Ghost Within' plays on the idea of multiple personalities and demonic possession,” writes the artist. “In this case the host has been granted immortality from the entity, but has to live with it forever.”

J.S. Tolar has been playing music since middle school, when he began on the violin. He traded this for what he has described as “a pawn-shop acoustic” guitar in high school, and quickly graduated to a Gibson Epiphone. This led him to join a plurality of bands who, along with musicians such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, helped him sculpt his style and musical character. He published his towering debut LP, “The Continuum,” in January of 2014. His sophomore project, “Endless War,” is rumored to appear early in 2016.

“Ghost Within” by J.S. Tolar is available online worldwide now. Get in early, fans of prog rock and metal alike. Very early.

Ralston Calder releases new single 'This Dream'

The singer and songwriter known as Ralston Calder has released his new R 'n' B single, “This Dream.” The track has been proudly published as an independent release without the financial or managerial support of the corporate music industry. Evocative, sonorous, and powerfully moving, “This Dream” by Ralston Calder is a rhythm-and-blues song fans of the sound will want to hear all over the world.

Ralston Calder cites as main artistic influences such titans of music as Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Prince, Beres Hammond and Stevie Wonder. His own style and tone on “This Dream” have most in common with the latter two, and work as a facile blend. His natural singing voice is not unlike Hammond's, while his songwriting is reminiscent of Stevie Wonder's more tender moments.

Asked to describe his start in music, Calder explains that he's “always loved it, and always enjoyed immensely singing and writing songs.”

Regrettably, the pathos with which he sings his new single, “This Dream,” is absolutely unfeigned.

“This song is for those who know what it like to lose the love of their lives,” he writes. “Here I share my heartbreak and what some would say is my foolish belief that love will bring her back to me.”

Ralston Calder was born and raised in the parish of St. Catherine on Jamaica. He has described his music style as a mix of R 'n' B, reggae, and hip-hop music. He has been writing songs since he was a young man.

“In my youth,” he describes, “my friends and I would hang out at my house, about six of us. We would have paper and pen and would make up songs about the beautiful girls in our neighborhood. We would sometimes have our own little contest to see who could come up with the best song. At other times we would combine all our ideas and perform our songs together. This was an all-night event. My friends would ask me just what it is I am waiting for and why don't I just do what I love.”

The encouragement was the catalyst which has led to Calder's “This Dream” single, and to other tracks as well.

“With a little help from my friends, I started my journey,” he writes.

Ralston Calder now lives, writes, and records his music in New York.

Mercury Morning release new EP 'Temple Grey'

The alternative rock crew known as Mercury Morning have released their new EP record, “Temple Grey.” The EP has been proudly published on the band's own eponymous, independent label without support or adulteration from the corporate music industry. Comprising four original tracks for an approximate listening time of 16 minutes, “Temple Grey” represents a roundly comprehensive treatment of this powerful, pop-charged alt-rock group from New York City.

Music by Mercury Morning evokes a colorful and textured range of emotion. It sounds loud no matter how low the volume on the stereo, achieving a live feel and tone which pulls the listener into the music and infuses him or her with adrenaline.

The band cites as musical influences artists reflecting their respective instruments and characters. These include Thom Yorke and Chino Moreno, the Cinematic Orchestra and the Mars Volta, Robert Fripp and Paul Masvidal, Secret Machines and Frightened Rabbit. While the styles and tones of each are widely varied of course, the true audiophile will quickly note the consistent thread of high quality running throughout the list. The resulting “Temple Grey” EP will come as no surprise to such a listener.

Asked to describe the overall theme of their new EP, Mercury Morning write that is revolves around the concept of equality “in the sense that human frailty is universal but does not define us.”

Mercury Morning has been an active entity in New York's music scene since 2008. Their present lineup boasts four extremely talented musicians but only one founding member, thus reflecting the natural evolution of a band in the independent rock underground playing steadily at peak performance. They have described NYC, their base of operations, as “the most diverse community of musicians any city could have.”

Their “Temple Grey” EP is the band's fourth extended-play record release. Recorded by the band, themselves, it was mixed by Ted Young and mastered by Jessica Thompson.

Rearview Minor release new EP 'Three'

The rock band from Maryland known as Rearview Minor have released their latest EP record, “Three.” The album contains three original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 12 minutes. Like the band's previous material, “Three” has been proudly published as an independent release outside the reach and influence of the corporate music industry. Harmonic and extremely well-written, “Three” by Rearview Mirror pulses with a power-pop groove and cuts with an alt-rock edge that fans of verve-charged rock music everywhere are sure to appreciate.

On Rearview Minor's official Facebook page, they cite as main artistic influences only two bands, original indie legends, Ween, and alt-rock underdogs from the American East Coast, Extreme. With these Rearview Minor shares a number of similarities. The variety of tones, moods and textures on “Three” is remarkable – particularly considering that the EP achieves this range in only three tracks – a strength Ween has always had in spades. Rearview Minor's ample capacity for aggression and tenderness in equal measures recalls some of the best moments of both bands, also.

At the heart of Rearview Minor is singer-songwriter Drew Chap. Asked to describe his project, he writes that it is “a project I've cultivated over the past year or so with help from a bunch of friends. The name 'Rearview Minor' was formed in much the same manner as some of the songs: through a combination of bonus time and the energy that comes from the euphoria of friends recently reunited, as much more appearance of substance and meaning is apparent than is actually there.”

Appearances aside, however, the EP is at least partially a result of these connections, and Chap is quick to acknowledge it.

“It's not all smoke and mirrors,” he writes. “'Rearview Minor' has prophetically come to symbolize the childhood nostalgia embodied by these songs, from old southern jig to pirate anthem to traditional Irish pub sing-along – looking back to the pre-adulthood days when everything seemed possible, and responsibility was as transparent as the bottom of the glass at the end of the night.”

“Three” by Rearview Minor is available online worldwide. Fans of alt-rock and the original indie-rock sound should absolutely get in early.

The Vodka Tourists release album 'Almost Abandoned'

The purveyors of rock music known as the Vodka Tourists have released their latest EP record, “Almost Abandoned.” The EP has been proudly published on the Pontmorlais Records independent music label. At seven tracks and nearly 30 minutes long, it represents a comprehensive introduction to this striking rock group from south London. Originally released in June of 2014, “Almost Abandoned” is a real, modern incarnation of the true rock spirit which persists in the best groups from one era to the next.

Vodka Tourist leader John Hill has cited as main artistic influences such titans of the sound as the Byrds, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and the Church. While elements of each are present in “Almost Abandoned,” it is perhaps a blend of the Byrds and the Church which most closely resembles the general mode and tone of Hill's songwriting and delivery.

The Vodka Tourists' minimalistic, (almost) low-fi approach to studio recording will endear this record to fans of power pop and alt-rock bands like Dramarama and the Replacements, while his unstoppably natural songwriting will inspire awe in anyone with an ear for the craft. Fans of verve-charged and versatile classic-rock groups such as the Kinks, the Animals and the Zombies will also appreciate Hill's straightforward, kick-through-the-fence songwriting. Rob Erickson releases new LP 'Whatcha Gonna Do?'

The singer, songwriter and multi- instrumentalist known as Rob Erickson has released his new LP gospel record, “Whatcha Gonna Do?” The album is the sophomore release from Erickson, whose debut “Just Passin' Thru” LP appeared on digital shelves worldwide in September of 2013. Featuring Erickson's signature blend of jazz, rock, country, gospel music and much, much more, “Whatcha Gonna Do?” is an original Christian music LP unlike any other.

Erickson has cited as main artistic influences such legends of songwriting and groove as Monty Alexander, Oscar Peterson, the Beatles, Cream, Blood Sweat and Tears, Stevie Wonder, and Chicago. His own record has its deepest roots in the highly creative, devil-may-care genre of jazz music, however, though its sound is not overtly jazz. Like jazz, the style of his music takes on different shapes according to his desired emotional effect.

Perhaps surprisingly for what is largely billed as a gospel album, this effect is often comedic on “Whatchu Gonna Do?” This is a rich and rewarding blend, as it turns out, such as in “Rearranging the Deck Chairs,” which manages to be genuine and tongue-in-cheek at the same time as Erickson does some lighthearted soul-searching in the course of a patio task. Of course, many tracks such as “Lord of Life” and “Redeemed” treat their celestial topic more directly, as does the title track “Whatcha Gonna Do?” the crux of which is described very well by the art on the album's cover.

Asked to describe the message his record has for listeners, Erickson writes that it carries a “Gospel message of salvation utilizing my background in jazz, pop, and gospel music.” He adds, “It also displays my sometimes-warped sense of humor.”

Rob Erickson is a retired law-enforcement officer with thirty years on the force. All of the tracks on his LP with the exception of two are Erickson originals. Every instrument on the record (except the saxophone) has been played by the artist, himself.

“Whatcha Gonna Do?” by Rob Erickson is available online retailers worldwide, as well as from his official website via Bandcamp (link provided below). His debut record, “Just Passin' Thru,” is also still available with 10% of all profits from it going to the Houston Food Band to feed hungry families in Houston, TX.

PKSP releases new single 'Why Play Games' feat. Yung Spade

The performer and producer of hip hop known as PKSP has released his latest official single, “Why Play Games” feat. Yung Spade. The track has been proudly published on the Platinum Protocol Records independent music label, entirely without the financial or managerial support of the corporate music industry. Bringing equal portions of deep groove, urban poetry and a smooth delivery which will appeal to fans of R 'n' B as well as hip hop, “Why Play Games” is a rap track that is sure to snare attention from music fans everywhere.

Rapper from New Jersey PKSP cites as main artistic influences such broadly varied and popular talents as Rakim, Guru, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, CL Smooth, Nicki Minaj, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Naughty by Nature, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, and Fabolous. Nevertheless, his “Why Play Games” single proves that his long experience at writing lines and rhymes has kept his sound and style both prominent and original.

“I write all my lyrics,” the rapper relates. “I been writing since I was 13 years old. I love to write and now I'm tackling songwriting for pop and R&B.”

While the theme of “Why Play Games” clearly has its basis in the romantic sphere, this is not PKSP's whole modus operandi on his current album.

“The message of my album is inspiration and love of music,” he writes. “The listeners are my main focus for this album, to provide them with some decent music that they can listen to and receive a message on every track.”

PKSP was born in Newark and is sometimes also more-formally known as Double P. He was raised by his mother (whom he refers to as “inspirational”) with four brothers, all of whom were disc jockeys. On a trip to Hawaii at the age of 13, the artist was taught everything about how to DJ from making mixtapes to production, from marketing to promotion, by his older brother, DJ J Love.

His current official bio reads, “Taking what he learned in Hawaii, PKSP went home and applied the knowledge to start his own DJ service. Preparing to enter high school, PKSP knew that music would be his escape from the urban society, and he became more serious about becoming not only a DJ but also a lyricist.”

After 26 years of hard work, PKSP is the CEO of Platinum Protocol Records as well as an artist and producer. He fills the roles of DJ, sound engineer, and graphic designer. He has worked with what he has respectfully called “a host of talented artists over the years,” has released three mixtapes, and is preparing to drop his official debut album, “So Blessed So Talented” featuring the additional skills of several great producers. A compilation record, “No More Talking,” is also slated for release in the near future. The comp will feature several artists under the PPR music label umbrella.

A street-solid serving of hip hop which showcases the considerable talents of Slo V & Retro and also features the razor-sharp skills of Kingpeen, “Use To” is easily one of the most instantly addicting rap tracks of 2015 and a shoo-in for radio play around the world.

Miami-based Slo V & Retro cite as main artistic influences such titans of the scene as Busta Rhymes, Nas, Kanye West, Jay Z, Andre 3000 and Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell. While many attributes of these inspirations persist in the original music of Slo V & Retro, the fact remains that their own sound stands out on its own.

As independent artists, the duo create their music from the ground up with no interference from music industry producers and polish their tracks to a high shine bearing their own seal of approval. Paring their tracks down to a pure, rock-hard core of rap, keyboard melodies and bass-filled back beats, music by Slo V & Retro sounds cleaner and more fundamental than many of the most popular and well-respected rap tracks to date.

That “Use To” has a feel and tone that sets Slo V & Retro apart from the same-ole, same-ole hip-hop producers of the modern music era is not surprising when one takes into consideration the stated aims of the artists, themselves.

“The message that our song shares with listeners is not to follow the crowd,” they write. “Be original.”

M!Z releases new album 'The Rezurrection EP'

The DJ and producer of hip hop and electronic dance music known as M!Z has released his latest extended-play record, “The Rezurrection EP.” The album contains six original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. It is proudly copyrighted 2015 FlashtheDJ Music, an independent venture for the modern music era. High-energy, packed with thumping beats, and seamlessly blending hip hop and EDM for a new sound to which few music fans will have been exposed, “The Rezurrection EP” from M!Z is a fresh take that will get dance floors jumping.

Asked to cite some artistic influences, the Montreal-based M!Z has no trouble coming up with sources.

“Alot of my influences are hip-hop related as that was mostly my background,” he writes. “I really love how Just Blaze and DJ Premier flip their samples. Timbaland is one of the best at the way he arranges his songs; I like how you don't know what to expect from him. He'll always come with some crazy sounds. The whole trap movement is exciting to me as well, because it mixes hip hop and EDM together in a way that I'm really feeling. I really like what Flosstradamus and Keys N Krates are doing.”

The trap sound is one which is easily discerned in M!Z's “Rezurrection” record, but to call the EP a trap album is missing the point. “The Rez' EP” uses equal portions of hip hop and EDM which play off one another in a way most trap artists aren't interested in, artists who prefer favoring one genre over the other. At the same time, M!Z's signature sound seems to come natural to him. No part of the EP strikes the listener as contrived to affect a certain feel.

Asked to describe the message and motivation behind his new album, M!Z writes, “Basically the music is to get people pumped up, whether in the club, in their cars or just in the gym. The goal was to create some heavy bass-pounding music that would make people feel hype.”

While M!Z started out as a DJ, he's moved on to producing at full speed. All his songs were written and produced by himself.

“Except,” he notes, “for 'Watch Out For the Gunz' which features Young Money artist Cory Gunz, who wrote on that track as well.”

M!Z is one of the co-founders of FlashtheDJ Music and is proud to have his own outlet to release music the way he wants without compromise. With experience as a DJ and producer for over 15 years, M!Z has worked with many big studios, artists and DJ's. He has performed in clubs and festivals all over North America.

A high-gloss (and highly entertaining) official music video for “Watch Out for the Gunz” has also been made available for public viewing at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61yKnPMx71s.

The performer and producer of hip hop known as EcoChaz has released his new single, “Green.” The track has been published on the Da Truth Inc. independent music label without the involvement of the corporate music industry. Bringing a combination of unstoppable back beats, heavy-hitting urban poetry, and melody hooks that prove the artist is at the top of his studio production game, “Green” by EcoChaz is one of the most striking indie hip-hop tracks of 2015 so far.

EcoChaz cites as main artistic influences only Mali Music and LeCrae, but his latest single, “Green,” also exhibits similarities to some material by Flame and Trip Lee. All of these popular musicians have deep roots in the gospel and Christian music scenes, not unlike EcoChaz himself, but his stage name and the title of his single are also very deliberate. One might call the artist an eco-Christian musician – gospel-green, if you will.

To this end he takes his principles one step further in terms of lyrical themes, one step further than perhaps any hip-hop artist to date. He is fighting a war for the greater good on two fronts. That “Green” has been released independently rather than in collaboration with a major music corporation is therefore particularly significant in EcoChaz's case because his art is at least as much his mission as it is his music.

Asked to comment on the message of his new single, EcoChaz writes, “[My song says] that it's cool to follow God and His will by getting your soul and world clean. While at the same time having fun with going green.”

EcoChaz doesn't just proclaim his faith, however. He stands as a living example of it.

“My mother prayed for a singer when she was pregnant with me,” he writes. “I was born one.”

EcoChaz partly takes his name from an acronym meaning “Encouraging Cleaner Options” and partly from his middle name. He has described himself as an inspirational/Christian artist, and is a recent graduate of the Ex'treme Institute formed in 2011 by Nelly at Vatterott-Berkeley College in St. Louis.

“Born a singer,” he writes, “I always had a love for music. But once I became drastically serious about my search for the Higher Power, I began to write songs – more so raps than songs – but as a man who's always kept a close eye on the industry trying to understand all the inner workings and reasoning for the things done. I vowed to be an artist of purpose who leaves an example to follow back to Christ, and who uses all the powerful influence of music and its culture to aid the will of God.”

“Green” by EcoChaz becomes available worldwide beginning 14 March 2015. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind ecological and spiritual hip-hop music event.

Jeap Yang releases new LP 'The Yin Quest'

The singer and songwriter of R 'n' B and soul music known as Jeap Yang has released his latest LP album, “The Yin Quest.” The record has been proudly released on the Bravesoul Ent. independent music label without the involvement or influence of the corporate music industry. At nearly one full hour of listening and containing no fewer than 12 original tracks for the music fans listening enjoyment, “The Yin Quest” is one of the most highly textured and evocative modern soul records to appear in many years.

Asked to list some of his main artistic influences, Jeap Yang cites soul and R 'n' B legends such as India.Arie, Mary J. Blige, Des'ree, and Phil Collins. Each of these lends an attribute to Yang's own distinctive style and sound. His “The Yin Quest” bears the soulfulness of India.Arie, the precision of Mary J. Blige, the emotional impact of Des'ree, and a seemingly natural flow in his songwriting which is reminiscent of songs from Phil Collins.

Also not unlike Collins' music is Yang's lyrical content. His songs are meticulously written and boast insightful, often introspective themes which bring a narrative depth beyond just romantic ballads (which ballads are of course a traditional part of the soul and R 'n' B genres, and which Yang has also included on his record).

Speaking of his lyrics on “The Yin Quest,” Jeap Yang writes, “'The Yin Quest' reflects life's journey: from insecurity to self-esteem, from grief to forgiveness, from love-loss to finding love through faith.”

Overall, his record is uplifting and has optimistic undertones.

“The album has an inspirational message,” he writes of this. “We all are in search of something, be it love, career, family, etc… We all are set on the quest to our Yin. I hope that listeners will be inspired to see that life is amazing, despite its ups and downs.”

“The Yin Quest” by Jeap Yang is available online worldwide. Fans of R 'n' B and soul should get in early.

[The following is taken directly from the official bio of Jeap Yang.]

Jeap Yang is a citizen of the world. Born from Portuguese parents, he developed his unique style while growing up in the multicultural suburbs of Paris, France. In his teenage years, he spent his time between singing gospel music and lending his voice to hip-hop tracks. His signature vocals were further enriched by Fado music which is such an important part of his Portuguese heritage.
His debut album entitled "The Yin Quest" will be released on March 10, 2015 under his own imprint Bravesoul Entertainment. The album is a reflection of his musical journey, drawing influences in soul, R&B, jazz, hip hop, and world music. His inspirational lyrics chronicle his search for happiness through stories of love, faith, fear, pain, forgiveness, and self-awareness. We are all set on a quest to feel whole and complete, to find the Yin to our Yang.

Guitarist E.V.G. re-releases popular album 'V.2'

The virtuoso guitarist known internationally as E.V.G. has re-released his popular full-length instrumental LP record, “V.2.” The LP has been published proudly as an independent release around the world without the involvement of a parent company or other corporate music entity. The record is the second collection of original songs by E.V.G. to be released to music fans worldwide, and appeared on online music vendor shelves on 9 March 2015. Melodic, highly textured, and boasting some of the most creative and colorfully composed music to be heard from either indie experts or industry professionals in recent memory, “V.2” from E.V.G. is instrumental music that will appeal to true music aficionados and those searching for original soundtrack material alike.

E.V.G.'s “V.2” contains nine original songs for an approximate total of half an hour's worth of exquisite listening. Each track is distinct from the others, bearing both its own emotional and narrative directions. A complexity in terms of instrumentation and melodic pacing easily allows for repeat and successive listens, so that any one LP from E.V.G. can feasibly be played three or four times running without any of the tracks becoming tiresome.

Particularly with regard to “V.2,” his included selections have such widely varied characters from one another that while the overall mood is somewhat more ethereal and dreamy than his earlier and later material, the tracks cannot be described as a whole. Some of his numbers are jazzy and bluesy, others very rock-influenced. There is a duet, and even a polka, which may seem unlikely, coming as it does from an electric guitar master, but the effect is something which must be heard to be appreciated.

E.V.G. is a master guitarist with an ear for natural differences in instruments. His guitars of choice have been listed on his official website so that the careful listener might learn how each of E.V.G.'s particular tones was achieved (link provided below). Both “V.2” and his “V.3” records are also available for purchase and download there.

“V.2” by E.V.G. is available online worldwide. Guitar enthusiasts and fans of well-composed instrumentals for electric and acoustic guitar shouldn't miss it.

It has been proudly published as an independent release on Bandit's own eponymous label without the involvement of the corporate music industry. Raw and natural, boasting a mellow tone of aggression not often heard in rock nor in pop music, “The Morning After” by Chad Bandit is a debut record that has already attracted a broad range of music fans.

Chad Bandit cites as main music influences the Gaslight Anthem, Brand New, Frank Turner, Dave Hause, Menzingers, and I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business. Asked to describe the themes of his songs, Bandit writes that they're about: “Reminiscing over the good days as a teenager. Drinking with friends around campfires. The dark parts of humanity. Heartbreak. Strippers. Redheads. Road trips. Sing-along anthems. Punk rock.”

Chad Bandit was raised in a small town in southern Oregon. After high school he moved to Portland and graduated from the Art Institute, after which he found work in 3D modeling for video games like Tomb Raider and Tony Hawk. His days are spent as the lead 3D character modeler for the NBC Network's popular program, “Grimm,” but his nights are filled with songwriting, guitar playing, and live performances.

His current official bio describes his act as “playing at bars singing about the days of being young and hanging out on train tracks, drinking with friends.” He has previously called himself an “acoustic punk singer-songwriter,” and has said his debut LP includes music written over a span of five years.

“It's sure to be a road-trip remedy for years to come,” he writes.

Morgan Ågren releases debut solo LP 'Batterie Deluxe'

Legendary drummer Morgan Ågren has released his debut solo LP record, “Batterie Deluxe.”

Legendary drummer Morgan Ågren has released his debut solo LP record, “Batterie Deluxe.” The full-length record comprises 14 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. It has been published as an independent release outside the control and influence of the corporate music industry, bearing a copyright at outlets such as Amazon.com which reads, “2014 Morgan Records not the cars.” An eclectic and intriguing kaleidoscope of sonic textures, “Batterie Deluxe” by Morgan Ågren is one of those records the music world has been waiting to hear for years.

Swedish-born Ågren's “Batterie Deluxe” combines traditional instrumentation with digital effects and studio production for a perfectly balanced sound that is exceptionally rare to find. His blend of music styles on the record includes elements of modern acid jazz, psychedelia, electronica, alternative rock, heavy metal, traditional music from Indian and Mediterranean cultures, and yet more.

While these contrasts may seem impossible to reconcile, Ågren's first solo album dovetails these styles in a way that must be heard to be believed. What is more, each track is equally fascinating and evocative, each bringing a refreshingly new sound and tone to follow the last. As Ågren's own description of the record aptly reads, “'Batterie Deluxe' is not at all a typical 'drummer's release.'”

In addition to the considerable skills of Ågren himself, “Batterie Deluxe” also features guest appearances by Devin Townsend and Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah, violinist Neyveli Radhakrishna, keyboardist Mats Öberg, and still more.

Morgan Ågren is the subject and focus of US filmmaker Carl King's 2014 documentary, “Morgan Ågren's Conundrum: A Percussive Misadventure.” Ågren has been played drums since the age of four and has won Grammy Awards on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. He has performed, worked, or been professionally associated with such names as Steve Vai, Frank Zappa, Denny Walley (Captain Beefheart, Tom Waits) and a host of others.

Frank Zappa said of Ågren's drumming, “He played unbelievably, just unbelievably.”

Steve Vai later echoed Zappa's enthusiasm: “I am stunned, these guys have an extraordinary amount of talent.”

Bill Bruford of Yes and King Crimson said Ågren was possessed of “Remarkable technical expertise and playing skills.”

Gavin Harrison, also of King Crimson, said, “Morgan is quite simply one of the most interesting and exciting drummers I've ever heard. Rhythmically advanced and musical too. A rare combination of modern and classic.”

Nothing more can describe this one-of-a-kind wonder of an album without actually listening to it.

Mo Beatz releases new capital single '5 Star General'

The DJ, composer and producer of instrumental hip hop known as Mo Beatz has released his latest flagship single, “5 Star General.” The track has been proudly published on the Mo Better Beatz independent music label without the influence or participation of the corporate music industry. Full of groove, packed with drum 'n' bass, and emotionally charged with the social injustices of the continuing struggle for true, civil rights in the United States, “5 Star General” by Mo Beatz is a hard-hitting hip-hop instrumental with a striking official video available soon for viewing worldwide.

Mo Beatz is the creator of such popular hip-hop releases as “Mo Better Beatz than Blues” and “Black Devils,” both of which have come to be seen as blueprint examples of how to make quality hip-hop and rap compositions in the modern music era. “5 Star General” takes Beatz's ingenuity up a notch from his shadowy chord progressions and urban-styled drum tracks to add an evocative visual component that has a strong social statement to make.

“'5 Star General' is a bass-thumping, orchestral-sounding instrumental single with an intense cinematic vibe,” writes Mo Beatz. “The title came about because the strings in the track sound so aggressive. It has a dramatic, warlike, movie-scene feel to it but with hard hip-hop drums on top.”

Concerning the video (available for public viewing online worldwide soon) Mo Beatz writes: “It's also because of [the song's dramatic power] that led to the idea to shoot an intense YouTube video inspired by Michael Jackson's 'Man in the Mirror,' with a message of 'Let's help heal the world and stop the violence.' The video was edited in New York City by a video director who goes by the name of Donald Robinson Cole and contains footage of mostly non-violent protests from around the world.”

“5 Star General” by Mo Beatz is the followup single to his “Black Devils” track which appeared in fall of 2014. Both are available for listening and download online worldwide. Also be sure to watch for the release of Beatz's official “5 Star General” music video on the World Wide Web soon.
