Apocalypse (also sometimes billed simply as Apoc) is first and foremost a careful lyricist with plenty to say. New Pilgrims release rock album 'World to See'

The alternative rock act known as New Pilgrims have released their new LP record, “World to See.” The album contains nine original New Pilgrims tracks for an approximate total listening time of half an hour. It has been proudly released on the Stereophonic Records independent music label. Genuine, intimate, remarkably written and performed with its heart on its sleeve, “World to See” by New Pilgrims is a surprise delight for fans of indie folk, alternative rock and pop music alike.

The mastermind behind New Pilgrims is singer-songwriter Bobby Gray from Nashville, TN. Gray cites as main artistic influences many of the mainstays of the alt-folk sound, including Brite Eyes, Dr. Dog and Tom Waits, as well as pop heroes like the Eels, Tricky and the Arcade Fire. Critics and fans have drawn comparisons between the music of New Pilgrims and the Decemberists, the Postal Service, and even Death Cab for Cutie. Gray himself also insists that his producer, Vinny Constantine, was chiefly important to the style and sound of the “World to See” LP.

One review described “World to See” by New Pilgrims as “straddling the appeal of alternative, indie-folk and pop music with tasteful amounts of ear candy, bittersweet hopefulness and good vibes.”

Regardless of sonic similarities, however, this is song-centric music, and these tracks stand as small, solitary works of art.

“For me songwriting is definitely not a guitar/vocal kind of thing,” writes New Pilgrims' Bobby Gray. “I think there is a sense of honesty in a song that sometimes lends itself to a certain sound or instrument.”

For this reason Gray has become an autodidact and multi-instrumentalist to a startling degree. This lends his new record a textured depth in terms of tone which many bands can't achieve with five core members, let alone just one. Gray explains that he doesn't make songs work with flash and pizzazz. To him, rather, “it’s always really whatever the song needs. I may play guitar on one song and piano or organ on another, or pick up something more unusual that really captures the feel of the song.”

That the song is Gray's unit of creativity also shows in his attention to lyrics. Each track seeps with personality like a photograph, a sonic snapshot of time in which something that has happened occurs again. This gives “World to See” a melancholy which is neither melodramatic nor overly sentimental.

Gray says of this, “I guess there is sadness in a lot of my music … in my life I’ve been through a lot of tough times. It’s bound to make its way into the music. I also think that’s just part of the honesty coming out. You know, even when I’m at my happiest, there are thoughts of the past and things that creep in there at times.”

The word 'bittersweet' is a common one to hear when discussing the themes of “World to See” with fans of Gray's music.

“I think that everything in life is sort of bittersweet like when you actually stop and look at it,” writes Gray. “Time flies, and next thing you know it’s gone. Some of the most touching music that I love is sort of like that. Songwriting and recording is a way for me to process it all.”

The audiophile will agree before the opening track has finished that this “World to See” is definitely something to stop and look at, not least because it's a gorgeous way for music fans to process it all, too.

“World to See” by New Pilgrims is available online worldwide. Get in early, fans of indie rock and folk, and be sure to catch them on your favorite streaming services such as Last.FM, Google Play, Spotify, Deezer Radio, iHeartRadio, and others.

Hip-hop performer K4hnween releases new single 'Little Red Is Riding Hood'

The singer and songwriter of hip hop known as K4hnween has released his latest official single, “Little Red Is Riding Hood.” The track is the most prominent release from K4hnween to date. It has been proudly published on the Dogg Head Gang independent record label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Classy, dark, bursting with bass and showcasing an unusually clean studio production, “Little Red Is Riding Hood” is one of the most uniquely excellent rap tracks to appear in 2015 so far.

Caribbean-born K4hnween (often stylized K4HNWEEN) cites as main artistic influences Lil' Wayne, Meek Mill, Migos, 2 Chainz, Rich Homie Quan, and Bird Man. His own sound on “Little Red Is Riding Hood” is spacious and ambient, extremely stylish and well-performed, decorated with plenty of popular effects and written with poetic deliberation and lyrical care.

Asked to describe the intended meaning of his latest single, K4hnween writes, “As I see how the world goes, I see younger and younger teenage girls having sex, getting pregnant just because they can do it without a parental look on this spreading common habit. This is my vision of [the problem].”

K4hnween was born on the island of St. Lucia in the Lesser Antilles and grew up speaking both French and English. His professional name of 'K4hnween' is pronounced the same as “can win,” and the artist has stated that indeed it carries the same meaning.

K4hnween discovered music working as an electronic consultant for recording studios arranging audio components to achieve the best sound. Originally interested in the island styles of music such as dancehall, reggae and rock reggae, he was turned to hip hop through the music of Snoop Dogg and has been a rapper ever since. Rapper Patterns of Perfection releases new LP 'The Big P.O.P.'

The rapper and songwriter known as Patterns of Perfection has released his long-awaited, third studio LP record, “The Big P.O.P.” The album contains no fewer than 14 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. It has been proudly published on the rapper's own World Records independent music label. Widely varied, highly textured, extremely well-written and impeccably performed, “The Big P.O.P.” isn't just a surefire hit of the summer – it's quite likely to be among the most addicting hip-hop albums of the year.

Nevada's P.O.P. sites as main artistic influences some surprising inspirations, including Pink Floyd, Zion-I, Eminem, Blockhead, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, the Cool Kids, Black Eyed Peas, Godsmack, Lil' Wayne, Freddy Machete, and Fort Minor. If music fans can glean anything from this sonic spread, it's that Patterns of Perfection is an artist with a knack for music appreciation. Appropriately, his new LP is a grab-bag of goodness that punches from several angles at once.

“The Big P.O.P.” is definitely a rap record through and through, but calling it a rap album doesn't at all describe it. P.O.P.'s new LP is easily one of the least-derivative hip-hop releases ever produced, unique to the bone and totally peerless. Comparisons are impossible.

Patterns of Perfection's instrumentation turns on a dime. His effects each seem newly invented specifically for its track. The result is that “The Big P.O.P.” is totally unpredictable from track to track except that every song delivers, every song being of the highest quality, so that the top-shelf skill with which the rapper performs becomes the running thread which keeps the LP consistent from beginning to end. Back-to-back plays of the record on repeat are virtually guaranteed.

Fans of old-school rap will love “The Big P.O.P.” for its ingenuity and raw beats. Fans of contemporary rap will love it for its pure hip-hop soul. Fans of other music genres will love it for its intellect and creativity. In short, “The Big P.O.P.” by Patterns of Perfection doesn't just have something for everyone, it's got more of it than anyone is likely to get anywhere else.

“The Big P.O.P.” by Patterns of Perfection is available online worldwide beginning 4 July 2015. Get in early, rap fans. Get in very early.

Popular country/gospel musician Corey Farlow releases tribute to veterans 'The Gift of Freedom'

The popular singer and songwriter of gospel and country music known as Corey Farlow has released his latest country single, “The Gift of Freedom.” The track has been published as an independent release and pays tribute and homage to veterans of the United States Armed Forces. A generous portion of the song's proceeds are being donated to charities benefiting US veterans. A sonorous, gorgeously written and flawlessly performed track in the tradition of American country music, “The Gift of Freedom” is a worthy salute to the men and women who have served to uphold the values and ideals of the USA for more than 200 years.

Earnestly sung and elegantly plucked out on acoustic guitar by Corey Farlow, “The Gift of Freedom” was written by Fred W. Byrd, Jr. for the express purpose of paying respect to those who have served to protect the people of the United States and her principles.

“I want the listeners to understand that the sacrifice of our men and women is given freely for the love of our country,” Byrd writes of their new song. “No matter the cost, the freedom they supply should never be forgotten.”

While Farlow's polished, natural singing voice rings clarion and pure throughout the track, charging its lines with emotion and profound regard, it is the meaning in Byrd's lyrics which makes up the lion's share of the song. Byrd, himself, speaks candidly about his intentions for “The Gift of Freedom.”

“I am a simple man,” he writes, “who believes in God, Country and Family. I know this might sound lame, but what else does a man need? As the writer of 'The Gift Of Freedom,' I served in the US Navy, and though my own injuries were [incurred] during peacetime, my dad served in World War II and in Korea. My nephew served in Iraq. I've seen what war can do and this was the one way I thought I could give back.”

He goes on to relate in detail how proceeds from “The Gift of Freedom” will benefit veterans.

“Half of everything I make will go to an organization to help the veterans,” he states. “I have also talked with the publisher to donate 15% of his take to the same organizations and he has agreed. This means that a total of 40% will go to help. I know that this might not sound like much, but with every dollar spent, everybody is helping the loved ones who have done so much for us.”

Clearly, Byrd's feelings about the men and women of the US Armed Forces goes to the bone.

“There are billions of people living in this great country and sometimes people forget that from the first shot at Bunker Hill, men and woman have fought and died so you can enjoy the freedom you have today. Help me help the veterans, simply by buying a copy of my song, 'The Gift of Freedom.'”

Corey Farlow is a well-known gospel singer from Kentucky who has made the crossover into the country-music genre. His debut “Country Never Stops” LP has been winning him fans from coast to coast since it appeared on iTunes' digital shelf in May 2015, and his official video for the album's title track has garnered approximately 65,000 views in less than 40 days.

“The Gift of Freedom” by Corey Farlow and Fred W. Byrd, Jr. becomes available 24 June 2015. Get in early, country-music fans. Very early.

This standout pop and dance album features 11 Jennifer Austin original tracks for an approximate playtime of 40 minutes.

Austin's music is fresh, international, and original. Her ballads are iced with raw, powerful vocal colors layered with sonic textures that reflect artistic integrity. Rejecting the modern use of a digital auto-tuner, Austin's singing is real and revealing in a way that draws in the listener. Her title track, “Take Me With You,” showcases simple and elegant lyrics that portray emotions which pull the listener into her world.

The album has dramatic contrasts and stark “catwalk” tracks like “Got It Going On” which bring the fun of dance and fashion into view – one can almost see the catwalk and models parading.

Upbeat, booming with bass and graced with a kaleidoscope of elegant vocal melodies, “Take Me With You” by Jennifer Austin is a pop record for all fans of sonic fun around the world.

Jennifer Austin, originally from Southern California but residing now in New Zealand, cites as main artistic influences only the most titanic of performers.

“I was always a fan of larger-than-life artists such as Whitney Houston, Elvis Presley, and Britney Spears,” she writes.

Unlike the music of most pop performers, Austin doesn't shy away from the public spotlight. Rather than hiding details of her personal life, this new album is both of an introspective and intimate nature.

She writes of her “Take Me With You” album, “This is a snapshot of my life and the message I want to share is: be you, whether it's a fun side of yourself or more vulnerable – it's still a part of who you are. It's an album that I hope people will connect with because these songs are a journey throughout my life and everyone has a journey they all go on.”

Jennifer Austin's songs on “Take Me With You” are all originals, the singer herself having penned all of them either alone or in collaboration with prominent New-Zealand-based writers, mPHAtic and Kevin Mark Trail (formerly of The Streets).

“I have always loved singing and performing,” writes Austin. “It's what my life is about. I've always been in a choir – whether it be in church or school, acting in plays and musicals throughout my life. I am inspired by going to musicals, theater and concerts starting from a very young age. I continue to pursue my passion for music and acting as a career.”

Though these may seem like lofty goals, Austin's already well on her way to the top. As a healthy sign of this, her music recently garnered attention from Auckland's prominent boutique magazine, Verve (link provided below).

Jennifer Austin's music is showcased by NZ's own indie label that could, Li'l Dog Records, whose mission statement on their official Facebook page reads: “Li'l Dog Records New Zealand is dedicated to releasing New Zealand's music to the world. It has been proudly published as an independent release without the influence or support of the corporate music industry. Mixing elements of blues and rock with traits unique to themselves alone, Wisemans Circus is sure to appeal to fans of classic rock, southern rock, traditional blues and then some.

The wide variety of tones with which Wisemans Circus have decorated their “Lonely Traveller” LP comes from the equally various backgrounds of the band's members. They cite as main artistic influences the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, the Grateful Dead, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and audiophiles will also hear similarities between their material and that of John Lee Hooker, BB King, Son House, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and other mainstays of the blues lineage.

Jason Carroll and the Smooth Jazz Symphony release new LP album '2 Smooth'

Jason Carroll and the Smooth Jazz Symphony have released their latest full-length record, “2 Smooth.” The album contains 12 original tracks for an approximate total listening time nearing a full hour. It has been proudly published on the Titanium Note Records Inc. independent record label. A contemporary jazz record showcasing the masterful playing of Jason Carroll and his equally expert associates, the “2 Smooth” LP is easily one of the best jazz records to be released in recent memory.

Jason Carroll and the Smooth Jazz Symphony's “2 Smooth” is certainly rooted in the subgenre of smooth jazz, but fans of jazz fusion are also certain to appreciate this sparkling achievement of a release. To get an idea of what the listener can expect, Carroll cites as personal influences such legends as Norman Brown, Brian Culbertson, Wayman Tisdale, Lee Ritenour, Pieces of a Dream, and Paul Hardcastle “to name a few.”

As one might glean from this distinguished roster, Carroll is himself a jazz player of taste and distinction, an attribute which is evident in the nuanced textures, intuitive phrases and consistently natural flows in his songs. These talents come not only from his classical training in music, but also from his family background.

“My father would sit me on his lap while he played drums when I was only two,” writes Carroll. “Later, my parents started me early by buying me a keyboard when I was eight years old. From there, I began to take lessons, play songs, and write songs. I later picked up guitar and bass as I got older.”

Asked to enlarge upon the intended goals and themes of his “2 Smooth” album with the Smooth Jazz Symphony, Carroll answers in terms audiophiles don't hear often enough:

“It's not simply about the notes played, the melodies, or the rhythm. Listeners should not simply hear the music, they should feel it. I hope that my music inspires people, brings some sort of emotion from them, and encourages them to be who they were truly meant to be.”

The “2 Smooth” LP from Jason Carroll and the Smooth Jazz Symphony is available for pre-sale at their official website now (link provided below) and from online retailers everywhere beginning 30 June 2015. Fans of smooth and fusion jazz, do yourselves a favor and get in early.

[The following comes directly from Jason Carroll's current official bio.]

Jason Carroll is a contemporary jazz producer and multi-instrumentalist who has worked with numerous artists and musicians in many genres of music. Originating from Wichita, Kansas, Carroll grew up in a musical home, beginning his journey as a drummer at the ripe age of only two years old. He would later take up piano under the instruction of his mother, the late Barbara Carroll, a classical pianist and artist. Soon afterward, he studied the bass and guitar and began experimenting with recording and arranging compositions in his late teens.

Today, Carroll produces for and collaborates with smooth jazz artists from around the country. Many people mistake his solo work for collaborations as he is known to play multiple instruments well. His style of production is commonly held as versatile, being able to go from smooth and sultry to hip with effortless ability. His versatility and trendiness are what make him a sought-after, up-and-coming producer, songwriter, and artist within the genre of smooth jazz.

Ajax Ray O'Vaque releases new LP 'Dreaming in Subtitles'

The gold and platinum record producer not-usually-known known as Ajax Ray O'Vaque has released his latest alt-rock album, “Dreaming in Subtitles.” The LP comprises 12 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 45 minutes. It has been published as an independent release outside the scope of the corporate music industry. Eclectic, grooving, catchy, accessible, radio-friendly and featuring some of the most naturally flowing songwriting ever recorded, “Dreaming in Subtitles” is a startling reminder that – this – is how much excellence can be crammed into a single album.

Ajax Ray O'Vaque is not Ajax Ray O'Vaque's real name. Operating in a clutch of Los-Angeles-based, professional recording studios, music producer and performer O'Vaque is actually the holder of 12 gold and platinum music awards. He has rubbed elbows with the likes of Prince and Elton John, and worked on no fewer than 30 songs with Duran Duran over five years.

Asked to cite some artistic influences for his “Dreaming in Subtitles” record, Ajax Ray O'Vaque lists Beck, Brian Wilson, the Beatles, Flaming Lips, Babylon Zoo, and Tame Impala. Audiophiles with an ear for all (or really any) of the above are sure to appreciate this upbeat, colorful, and refreshingly original album.

That it is so unique in terms of mode and tone comes largely from the artist's refusal to claim a favorite music style.

“I used to be into electronica,” he writes, “but I really like recording real instruments. I like mixing the most-real sounds with one or two completely unreal sounds, then making them sound like they belong together.”

Appropriately, hearing “Dreaming in Subtitles” is often surreal as a result, with instrumentation blending in such a way as to make discerning the individual pieces unlikely and delightfully unnecessary. The music justifies itself. Taking it apart for analysis seems trite.

And what of the theme of his new album? Lyrically speaking, there's an awful lot of poetry going on, but it isn't a lofty LP. O'Vaque says of it, simply, “the Universe is a strange place and we are riding on a blue-green marble someone named 'Earth.'”

O'Vaque also piled thanks on his co-producer/writer Greg Ansin (whose equally remarkable band, La Machine De Rêve, just released their new “Steam Train” video and single) and mix engineer Karyadi Sutedja for what he called huge contributions, saying, “Without them it could have never reached the place it ended up.”

Tom Haugen of New Noise Magazine describes “Dreaming in Subtitles” as “Certainly experimental, but never to the point of alienating the listener … both breezy and rigid, cosmic and organic, and no two songs really sound that similar. From soaring rock with psyche undertones to calmer, atmospheric layers, there is something for everyone in this precise and accomplished album.”

The album has elsewhere been called “a concoction of new-wave, ’60s rock, ’90s indie and experimental pop that includes both synthetic and organic sounds. Sometimes busy and dark, other times light and airy, this one pertains to electro-pop, indie-rock and even prog-rock, and weaves in sonic beauty and mesmerizing atmospheres.”

Thrice-Grammy-Award-winning engineer John Frye calls it “An incredible album that is both familiar and brand new.”

All in all, it's worth everyone's time on this blue-green marble someone named “Earth” to give this pretty little platter a spin.

Rapper J. Cobb's 2015 EP 'Untitled' turning heads

The rapper, producer and performer of hip hop known as J. Cobb has released his latest EP record, “Untitled.” The EP comprises five original J. Cobb tracks including his popular single, “Vegas,” the official video for which continues to wow music fans around the world. Like all material from J. Cobb so far, the EP has been proudly published on the Stone Group Records, LLC independent music label. Slick, classy, and bringing elements of hip hop, pop and rock together for an explosive sonic experience unlike anything in recent memory, “Untitled” marks J. Cobb’s grand entrance into the scene, and listeners should take note!

Born and raised in Detroit and residing in NYC, J. Cobb has been inspired over the years by artists such as Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac Shakur, the Notorious B.I.G., Andre 3000, and Kanye West, evidencing him to be a rap fan of the strictest taste and distinction. It is this top-shelf sense of quality that has helped Cobb to bring his record to the forefront of the hip-hop underground today. Also highlighting the powerful little record is his inclusion of other talents who appear on it, including Tavea, Bizarre of D12, J. Twizzle, Jimmy, Dre, John Brown and Franchise.

Perhaps most striking about J. Cobb's “Untitled” is his knack for writing differently unstoppable songs, which jump off the vinyl and beg for airplay. Spellbinding pop songs like “Dream,” arresting social-awareness tracks like “Black,” and the EP's party-hard single, “Vegas,” are utterly convincing in their own ways and equally sure to garner J. Cobb an army of loyal DJs spinning him in nightclubs around the world. As it stands, Cobb's fan base is already burgeoning, clamoring for a long-playing release to come hot on the heels of this fresh EP.

Asked to describe the overall message of “Untitled,” Stone Group Records writes on his behalf, “It changes. I attempted to put together a diverse offering of music in order to have at least one song on the EP someone likes or can relate to – that is why the EP is | Untitled |. Each song has its own message and meaning … [The EP represents] the beginning of Stone Group Records and an example of the work J. Cobb is capable of, but rest assured there will be significant growth on the full album.”

“Untitled” by J. Cobb from the Stone Group Records indie label is available online worldwide, on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, and Amazon. Get in early.

Vig T releases debut electronica album 'EarSoundMusic'

The Malaysian composer of digital music known as Vig T has released his long-awaited debut LP record, “EarSoundMusic.” The full-length album comprises 11 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of one hour and 20 minutes, making for a comprehensive introduction to this remarkable talent from Kuala Lumpur. The independent record has been proudly published on the Vig T Records label. A startling array of EDM sounds from nearly every subgenre of the underground scene, “EarSoundMusic” is easily one of the most prominent digital music releases of 2015.

Vig T (also sometimes billed as Vigneswaran) cites as main musical influences a broad selection of legends, including masters of the old school such as Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Orbital and Ayla, but also some of the world's great composers: Maestro Ilayaraja, Beethoven, and Mozart. Vig T also has roots in Eurodance as well, mentioning that he gleans inspiration from the likes of Dr. Alban and Snap!, as well as in rock music such as that of Santana, Nirvana, and even Metallica.

What this means for his listeners is that “EarSoundMusic” is an LP with miles of sonic diversity. While it is danceable from start to finish and absolutely excellent for DJs at clubs and parties, it can't be wholly described with the letters 'EDM' because really it is so much more than simple beats and loops.

Vig T himself describes his new album as, “a compilation of mixed electronic genres to give listeners a variety of electronic dance music rather than a monotonous genre. House, trance, breakbeats, etc. You have it all in one album.”

Vig T has been composing and performing electronic dance music since 2010. Originally basing his work on the popular music platform, SoundCloud, he has been busily collaborating with some of the scene's most talented and creative artists.

“EarSoundMusic” by Vig T becomes available online worldwide 18 June 2015. Get in early, electronic music fans.

The living legend of guitar known as Paul Brett has released his latest LP album, a dazzling collection titled “12 String Blues Power.” Like all Brett's recent material, the album has been proudly published on the Viral Discs and Downloads independent record label. Boasting 12 tracks for an approximate listening time of 30 minutes, Brett's new record brings fans new and old his razor-sharp renditions of classic standards such as “Rock Island Line,” “Sweet Home Chicago” and “Black Betty.” Raw, real, sizzling-hot and featuring Brett's inimitably evocative vocals, “12 String Blues Power” by Paul Brett isn't just the best blues record of 2015 so far – it's a legitimate historical event.

Paul Brett's music has dipped into many different genres over the years, particularly those most associated with the classic rock groups of the late 1960s and '70s. He has notably played the blues, folk, rock, psychedelic, and acoustic music, and is also an avid fan of classical. Having been globally recognized as one of the top 12-string guitarists for over four decades, Brett's musical resume borders on the unbelievable.

As a session player in high demand, Paul Brett has performed, written and/or recorded with such legends as the Strawbs, the Overlanders, the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, the Velvet Opera, Tintern Abbey, Fire, Roy Harper, Al Stewart, Lonnie Donegan, Tom Newman (“Tubular Bells”), Mott the Hoople, Motorhead, Mungo Jerry, Manfred Mann, the Savoy Brown Blues Band, John Mayall, Rod Stewart & the Faces, Quintessence, Keith Ralph (Yardbirds), Jimmy James & the Vagabonds, Steve Holley (Wings), Andrew Lloyd Webber, Julian Lloyd Webber, Jimi Hendrix, John Renbourn, the Who, Van der Graaf Generator, Motorhead, Paul Brett Sage – and quite literally scores of other world-famous musicians not here listed – as well as simply in his own right as Paul Brett.

He has his own range of signature guitars distributed worldwide by Vintage Guitars and has written as a music journalist for Melody Maker, NME, Sound International and International Musician. He is the resident expert on vintage acoustic guitars for the UK's Acoustic Magazine, and currently operates as festival director for the Llyn Acoustic Guitar Festival in North Wales.

Paul Brett's most recent endeavors find him piloting a record label with Tom Newman, co-founder of Virgin Records and producer of Mike Oldfield's seminal platinum album, “Tubular Bells.” Together they are undertaking several projects in the educational arena, including the recording of classic albums played by schoolchildren. Their popular “Tubular Bells” rendition as performed by the Children of Ireland appeared on digital shelves worldwide in 2013 and has been turning heads ever since.

“12 String Blues Power” by Paul Brett is available online worldwide beginning 20 June 2015. Get in early, blues fanatics and audiophiles. Very early.

Rapper Jagger Spacy releases debut EP album 'Jagger Spacy'

The rapper and songwriter from Arizona known as Jagger Spacy has released his debut EP album, “Jagger Spacy.” The self-titled record contains four original Spacy tracks, including his two surprise hit singles, “When I'm Gone” and “Where'd You Go?” the latter of which gained extra momentum with the appearance of Spacy's debut official video for the track in April. These singles, the video and the highly awaited debut EP, “Jagger Spacy,” have all been published independent of corporate music record labels.

A modern rap record that fans of hip hop and pop alike can dig deep into, “Jagger Spacy” by Jagger Spacy is full of heart, built on bass, and solid proof that this young rapper's ready for the big time.

Jagger Spacy has cited Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift as main artistic influences for his self-titled EP, and attributes of both are clearly heard throughout the record. Also easy to distinguish are tones of Eminem, whom Spacy has also mentioned as one of his inspirations in the past. His similarities with Marshall Mathers are evident in the ease and alacrity with which Spacy flips his phrases around in linguistic loops, twists and hairpin turns.

Unlike Eminem's iconic vocal style, however, is Spacy's determination to pen only radio-friendly lyrics.

“Growing up I listened to one genre and one genre only, and that was rap,” Spacy writes. “Listening to this type of music on the radio, I would always get disappointed hearing bleeps in it. I just felt like I wasn't getting the full experience. When I decided to make my own music, I promised myself that everything I wrote would have meaning minus the bleeps.”

Music by Jagger Spacy is more than just catchy sounds, too. This is an artist aiming to change the world.

“I think a lot of people tend to hide their struggles and emotions inside,” he writes, “and that's what breaks them. When you can admit you're broken you are able to rebuild yourself. I hope through my lyrics people will be inspired to just be real and okay with how they feel. Sometimes you just need to get it off your chest. As I release my EP, I hope my music can speak to people and let them know they're not alone.”

The “Jagger Spacy” EP by Jagger Spacy is available online worldwide beginning 13 June 2015. Get in early, rap fans.

The Hoyt Hughes Band release new country single 'Stomp On'

The Hoyt Hughes Band have released their newest country-music single, “Stomp On.” The track has been concurrently released with an official music video, and proudly published on the Blue Bolt Records independent music label without the support of the corporate music industry. Charged with southern-rock power, built on groove and carrying the American tradition of country music into the new millennium, “Stomp On” from the Hoyt Hughes Band is the most recent reason for fans of country music to get aboard the Hoyt Hughes experience.

Country singer and songwriter Hoyt Hughes cites as main artistic influences George Jones, Hank Williams, Eddie Van Halen, and Bobby Bare. Real audiophiles of the country and country-rock sounds will recognize the genuine thread of Americana running through this list, the same thread which is plain to hear in “Stomp On.” This sound is indicative of the Hoyt Hughes Band's roots, deep, red-blooded roots they are proud to evoke in their songwriting and performances.

They aren't simply picking up what the legends of Nashville began, either. These gentlemen are born to it.

Hoyt Hughes writes, “As a child I would play the spoons with my dad on the front porch.”

The current H.H. Band bio describes “Stomp On” as “exemplary of the band’s musical heritage, a rowdy, rockin’ country southern anthem to partying and having a good time at all times … Hoyt and the band have been delivering their own brand of country mixed with southern rock all over clubs in the south, and this new song is the perfect vehicle to showcase what their music is all about.”

Masterfully produced by Emmy-nominated studio engineer and Grammy-nominated songwriter Ray Barnette, “Stomp On” is razor sharp, popping right out of the speakers, a shoo-in for country-music DJs looking to spice up their dance-floor repertoire. Still, it is in their live performances that the Hoyt Hughes Band is largely known to shine.

“Sometimes when we see and feel the crowd connect with the band at a live show,” they write, “it makes us recognize that we are a part of something that is much bigger than just the band members. It’s this synergistic energy we get back from the audience that drives us to take the stage.”

“Stomp On” by the Hoyt Hughes Band becomes available online worldwide beginning 18 June 2015. Country fans should definitely get in early.

Alt-rocker Cheryl Boutz releases new LP 'Blackout'

The singer and songwriter of alternative rock music known as Cheryl Boutz has released her latest LP album, “Blackout.” The record contains 13 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes, making for a roundly comprehensive introduction to this evocative and powerful singer for music fans not yet acquainted. It has been proudly published on the Tate Music Group independent record label, who also released Cheryl Boutz's “Evolution” LP in spring 2014. Heartfelt, verve-charged and packed with exceptional songwriting, “Blackout” by Cheryl Boutz is a clear sign that alternative rock is very much alive and just as heavy hitting as it ever was.

Cheryl Boutz cites as main artistic influences Heart, Red, Hinder, Nickelback, and songwriter-producer Kish Moody. Her own style is aggressive without being macho, passionate without being dramatic, and often shadowy without being overtly dark. The resulting blend strikes the listener as lush, stormy and intimately personal rock music.

The intimacy of Cheryl Boutz's “Blackout” LP is one of its most-striking characteristics, one of the attributes which causes songs by Boutz to stand out among the throngs of independent alt-rock musicians today.

“My music is about life,” Boutz writes. “I write music that reaches out to people, touching their heart. My songs tell stories. I have been told by many people that they feel my heart when they listen to my songs.”

Whether the listener is a fan of the alt-rock genre or no, he or she will attest that truly Boutz is inside her music speaking out from it, sharing it with the listener, not just playing rock for its own sake.

“I've always felt that what makes a good singer is when a person can listen and feel the emotions and meaning of the message in the song,” she writes. “If a person cannot feel the message in the song, they are not going to believe it.”

Much of the emotional impact of the songwriting on “Blackout” stems from its roots in cold, stark reality. As a survivor of domestic abuse, Boutz laces her songs with truths that are sometimes painful, but punctuates these with uplifting currents of encouragement, perseverance and ultimate victory.

She writes of this, “Some of the songs on 'Blackout' express awareness and the things I experienced. I use my personal experience as a way to help others. So many people experience domestic abuse and often wonder how they got there, or are looking for a way out. 'Blackout' also talks about some of my dark side, feelings and experiences I've had that words couldn't express.”

Cheryl Boutz is a Poze Productions VIP Artist, hand picked from a thousand other performers in 2012. She has been featured on Poze Radio's Sat. Night weekly rotation and in Poze Magazine. Having been showcased so prominently, Boutz was picked up by Oklahoma City's Tate Music Group in 2013. Her debut LP, “Evolution,” won Best Album at both the Akademia and X-Poze-ing Music Awards, as well as X-Poze-ing's Best Alternative Album and Best Song for her “Breathless” single.

“It's always been my nature to use music to express my feelings,” Boutz writes. “In a sea of mixed emotions, while I spent a lot of time away from home, friends and family, it came natural for me to start writing songs about the way I felt. I've been writing now for over 20 years.”
