Fox Nigon releases new single 'The Game Is Over'

The songwriter and producer of rock and modern blues known as Fox Nigon has released his latest official single, “The Game Is Over.” The single has been released in both an extended edition and one edited for radio, as well as with an official music video available for viewing now (link provided below). It has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. Evocative, heartfelt and sad in a way modern blues often is not, “The Game Is Over” showcases Fox Nigon as one of the most intriguing blues artists of the year so far and promises he has plenty more where that came from.

Originally from Lorraine, France, Fox Nigon cites as main artistic influences Joe Cocker, Banners, Ed Sheeran, Simply Red, James Blunt, David Bowie, Blondie, Tina Turner, and even Bob Marley. Nigon's own sound takes elements from several of these – particularly Joe Cocker, with whom he shares a gritty yet natural vocal texture – and adds a unique tenderness for a result blues fans worldwide will appreciate. With an emphasis on delicate piano, hypnotic harmonies, and surprisingly intimate lead singing, “The Game Is Over” by Fox Nigon has a little something for every blues fan.

Asked to describe the overall meaning of “The Game Is Over,” Fox Nigon writes, “This song tells the usual story of 50-year old men looking for changes in their life, especially their love lives. These changes often come to destroy what really matters to them, wife, children, family, friends … What they have spent all their lives to build!”

Today, Fox Nigon writes and composes in Spain, records in France (Toulouse) and in the UK (Cheltenham and Liverpool). He mainly performs in Europe. “The Game Is Over” has enjoyed universal critical acclaim, perhaps most notably from Rolling Stone Magazine. Fox Nigon speaks often about the importance of his lyrics to his music, particularly with regard to a stroke he suffered in 2007 which, in addition to inspiring much of the music from his first record, also led him to found France AVC, an organization for stroke research and prevention.

Fox Nigon's current bio concludes: “Today, he shares with us his dark vision of the world, but always full of hope. With very personal lyrics, neat music, and a particular voice, this dark crooner who never leaves his hat and sunglasses found his true style after a stay in Liverpool, where he plunged back into the sources of rock and English pop.”

The Game Is Over” is arranged by Matt Butler. The official video for “The Game Is Over” is directed by French filmmaker Florent Charles.

Fox Nigon's “The Game Is Over” is available from over 600 quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early, modern blues fans.

Ms. Sunshine releases new single 'California Love'

The songwriter and producer of pop music known as Ms. Sunshine has released her latest official single, “California Love.” The single has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry on the Sunny Music Records record label. Upbeat, grooving, and (of course) beaming with her signature friendly disposition, “California Love” again proves that Ms. Sunshine has everything fans of pop music love to hear.

Belgium's Ms. Sunshine cites as main artistic influences Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Miriam Makeba, Suzanne Owiyo (Kenya), Muthoni the Drummer Queen (Kenya), the late Oliver Mtukudzi (Zimbabwe), and of course, Alpha Blondy. Ms. Sunshine's own sound takes elements from each of these and adds her own sunny personality for a refreshingly exotic result unlike anything most music fans have heard before. With an emphasis on danceable beats, happy melody lines, and more of the singer's usual uplifting, empowering lyrics, “California Love” by Ms. Sunshine has a little something for everybody.

Asked to describe the overall meaning of “California Love,” Ms. Sunshine writes, “Dreams are valid!!!!! No matter where you are from or your background. We have that dream to make it to Hollywood. And Be recognized by the artists and performers that we see and grace our screens, radio and magazines. This is clearly evident by the amount of artists, producers and actors from foreign lands who are now being recognized in the hollywood plattform. And this is not only inspiring for other foreign artists but equally motivational. To ASPIRE FOR GREATNESS.”

Born Catherine Achieng’ Onyango in Kenya, 1981 Ms. Sunshine speaks fluent Dhuluo, in which African dialect her name means 'girl who is born when the sun is shining.' She has been writing, recording and performing original music since 2010. Popular singles such as “Riding Low Low” (2017) and “Mama Africa” (2013) continue to bring new fans to Ms. Sunshine's already exceptionally enthusiastic following.

I always been passionate for music and dance since young,” writes Ms. Sunshine. “Later on, during my university years, music took a back seat and I passively self-educated myself on the different genres, more so concentrating on '50s '60s and '70s music. At this time, I got an exposure to appreciate and learn some of legendary music's greatest: Bob Marley and the Wailers, Lucky Dube, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, John Lennon, Etta James, Nina Simone, Franco, Miriam Makeba, Dinah Washington, Pink Floyd, Sting, and Elton John, just to name just a few who later have so inspired me in writing my own music.”

Ms. Sunshine has described her musical style as “a prime illustration of Neo-Afro Soul, in that it focuses on the contemporary styles of the genres soul, hip hop and reggae, and sends out a deeper message as opposed to common or commercial music. The songs I have recorded so far exemplify my personal take on life. My philosophy features ideologies from my African influences, with fusions from African-centered and Five Percent theologies, the complex views of diverse African cultural theologies and its complex interpretation of such strong cultural beliefs in our modern and evolving African culture. The majority of Ms. Sunshine music is greatly influenced by my beliefs of the Nation of Gods and Earths and my African roots and heritage.”

Moro releases new folk rock single 'Wanderin’'

The singer-songwriter of folk music known as Moro has released his latest official single, “Wanderin’.” The single has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry on the Budwick Music Co. record label. Warm, adventurous, and bearing classically trilled vocals of the rarest quality, “Wanderin’” proves that Moro still ranks among the world's most genuine folk musicians.

Asked to cite some main artistic influences, Bodega Bay, Calif.'s Moro blazes his own trail, as usual.

There’s not enough room here for a properly representative list,” he writes. “I’ll just list my guitar, the sound of the ocean surf, gulls, wind, silence, and the letting in of Love.” Moro's own sound takes natural elements from each of these on “Wanderin'” and adds his own sonic vision for a result that blends classic '60s pop and folk with an undeniable lo-fi sound which will appeal to fans of a broad variety of music. As it happens, this vision seems more important to Moro's creative process than the input of any other person or musician – anyone maybe but his friend, 77-year-old Native American and Carmel resident Red Eagle.Red Eagle told me when I was seven,” Moro says, “that if I pretend my playing sounds like it does in my heart, where millions of heavenly musicians are playing my tunes, then one day it will.”

In addition to Moro's own considerable talents, “Wanderin'” also features work by friends, most notably singer, songwriter and pianist Van Dyke Parks, best known for his '67 LP, “Song Cycle,” and lyrics contributed to the Beach Boys' “Smile” record.

After singing 'Wanderin’' for the group and seeing Van Dyke was groping for what to do, I sat with him and hummed his notes,” says Moro. “As I’d hoped, he liked them, practiced them for a few moments, and we had a run-through during which he really got into the notes, building them to a climax at the end. Inspired, he produced a long felt strip from his pocket and gently tucked it between the strings of the baby grand piano he was working with. We did another run-through, and it was boffo. Van Dyke had scored big time with that simple felt strip and created the perfect sound for my song. We rolled tape, recorded the tune, and all were inspired by the playback.”

Asked to describe the overall meaning of “Wanderin’,” Moro writes, “The meanings, themes and inspirations in 'Wanderin’' are exactly the same as they are in all my work – particularly in my purely instrumental guitar work – outpourings of joy in gratitude for the hallowed days of freedom I was given during my troubadour years – outpourings that continue to this day. My wealth is all in happy golden memories of all the good times I have had in fifty countries, as the song says.”

Originally billed as Buddy Bohn, Moro has been writing and recording popular music since before the release of his first album, “Buddy Bohn, Folksinger,” in 1962. Since that time he has garnered global fame traveling under the Troubador's Code: performing in exchange for basic needs like food and housing, which code he took to heart while still a teenager. He has played for kings and queens, actors and artists as well as cooks, smugglers, and American troops stationed in Laos. During his travels he also recorded three albums on three different labels and on three separate continents. His international hit “Vermouth Rondo” helped him build his home and recording studio in Bodega Bay, California, where he continues to record. For 22 consecutive years, the popularity of his music has earned him recognition from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) for consistent play of his compositions. “It’s a big help to see how beautiful the world looks and feels when we remember that no matter where we go, Love is there,” writes Moro. “This has been a huge help during my troubadour travels, particularly during my performance tour of Upcountry Thailand in 1962 when there were Viet Cong snipers lurking around the perimeters of my concerts. Hope you enjoy this new video of my new single, 'Wanderin’.'”

Paula Punch releases new EP album 'Lost Horizon Sessions'

The songwriter and producer of alternative rock known as Paula Punch has released her latest official EP album, “Lost Horizon Sessions.” The EP contains four original Paula Punch tracks recorded live in the studio for a total listening time of about 15 minutes. It has been proudly published as an independent release on the Punch Park record label. The latest in her constantly updating repertoire and her official debut live release, “Lost Horizon Sessions” is the public's first glimpse of Punch + guitar without any additional accompaniment.

Sydney, Australia's Paula Punch cites as influences Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell, Chrissy Hind, Francoise Hardy, Bob Dylan, Ed Kuepper and Ron Sexsmith. Her own sound varies from release to release, generally falling within the broad margins of the alt-rock genre, but “Lost Horizon Sessions” finds her at her Annie Lennox-est, with welcome notes of Tori Amos and Jewel thrown in for good measure. Touching, human, and distinctly personal, “Lost Horizon Sessions” is Paula Punch's most naturally elegant record to date.

This is a live recording session Paula did some years ago,” writes the Punch Park label of their new album, “at Philip Punch's Electric Avenue Studios in Trafalgar Street Annandale.” The recordings feature some of the last engineering work of the legendary Wayne “Groove” Myers who passed away in 2016. “These recordings had been lost for a while as Electric Avenue had since moved its location,” says Punch Park. “They were rediscovered only recently. These tracks included 'Lost Horizon' which has appropriately become the EP title.” Punch Park describes the mix by Groove Myers as “perfectly riding” Paula Punch's emotional performances. The tracks were recorded after a period of solo gigs around Sydney including supporting spots with Ed Kuepper which Punch has called “intense.” The tracks on “Lost Horizon Sessions” are a window onto the sets Paula Punch played during that time. Paula Punch has risen to become a staple in the Australian indie music scene. She usually tours and plays with her Sydney band, the Fireflys. Her debut LP album, “Don't Look Down,” appeared in 2018. Punch has since toured California with Mark Punch and New Zealand-born Nashville artist Jackie Bristow. She won 2nd Place in the Australian Songwriting Awards' Indie Rock 2018 (she took 5th in 2017). She is the founder and leader of her regular singer-songwriter showcase, “The Punch Sessions,” promoting local artists.Lost Horizon Sessions” by Paula Punch on the Punch Park label is available from over 600 quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Tim St. Clair releases new EP album 'Slow Start'

The songwriter and producer of country music known as Tim St. Clair has released his latest official EP album, “Slow Start.” The EP album contains six original Tim St. Clair tracks for an approximate total listening time of 30 minutes. It has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. Genuine, heartfelt, and deeply evocative, “Slow Start” showcases Tim St. Clair as one of the most intriguing independent country artists of the year so far and promises that he has plenty more where that came from.

Tim St. Clair cites as main artistic influences Elvis Presley, T.G.Sheppard, John Conlee, Ronnie Milsap, Little Texas, Alabama, and the Oak Ridge Boys, as well as non-country artists such as Phil Collins, U2, Kiss, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Nickelback, Sammy Hagar, Kid Rock, and Buckcherry. Tim St. Clair's own sound takes elements from each of these and adds something fresh and unique for a result unlike anything today's country fans have heard before. With an emphasis on honesty, enthusiasm, and true love for the American country sound, “Slow Start” by Tim St. Clair has a little something for every fan of country music today.

Asked to describe the overall meaning of “Slow Start,” Tim St. Clair writes, “The title song was one of the last songs written because I thought it was a great title. Also, it described the feelings I had following my passion in being involved in making music and the lack of support I received. There are relationship songs which express the love and care of another. There is a song of deep loss and gratitude. There is a song about taking chances in others.”

Much of the palpable reality of music by Tim St. Clair comes from his steadfast faith in himself as an artist and as a person striving to create songs which speak his heart truthfully and earnestly.

Music has always been a passion since childhood,” St. Clair writes of this. “I devoted myself to learning music believing it's never too late.”

Tim St. Clair is the son of a Vietnam veteran, farmer and iron worker who, in St. Clair's words, “inspired me to take chances and risks that some may never take.” St. Clair himself is also a veteran of the US Army, and has worked in construction, firefighting, and as a medic. He enjoys weight training, wrestling, jiu jitsu, mixed martial arts, and spending time with his family.

Speaking of his plan for his music, Tim St. Clair says, “I hope the listeners find the simple messages of love, loss and understandings. These songs are expressions of emotions, feelings and life lessons captured and expressed.”
