Polly Baker releases new single 'Good at Goodbyes'

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

The singer and songwriter known as Polly Baker has released her debut pop single, titled, “Good at Goodbyes.” The track has been released along with an official lyric video available for viewing by the public at the artist's own official website (link provided below). A rocking, rolling, upbeat and passionate song with roots in the modern pop-country style, “Good at Goodbyes” stands as a sure sign that Polly Baker belongs on the same top shelf as some of the most popular American pop music artists today.

Baker cites as main artistic influences such songsmiths as Taylor Swift, Kate Voegele, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Thomas Rhett, Dan+Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, Cassadee Pope, and Maroon 5. Though some of these inspirations ring out more obviously than others in the major-scale chord progressions of “Good at Goodbyes,” elements of each are easy to discern therein. One of the more obvious attributes is the prominent storytelling aspect of her lyrics.

I love telling stories,” she writes, “and I love translating conversations into song lyrics. I hope that my listeners love hearing about my experiences in relationships and life, and I hope that they can relate to the songs.”

While a running narrative has long been the mainstay of folk and country music, romantic themes mainly provide lyrical force behind titanic pop performers such as Katy Perry and Selena Gomez.

I have learned a lot about love this past year, and all I can conclude is that love is crazy,” Baker says, “and unpredictable and beautiful. That’s why I write my songs. I am amazed at how a song can take a listener back to an exact moment in time. Melodies do sound just like memories. I hope my music can do that for each listener.”

With thousands of views on her YouTube channel and an increasingly enthusiastic throng of fans, Baker's early success is somewhat surprising to her. Still, she's taking it in stride.

I just didn’t really expect any of this to happen with my songs,” she comments. “I wanted it to, but I just didn’t think I would ever have the opportunity to pursue my music full time. I was originally going to settle for 'Plans B-through-E,' but now I’m going for 'Plan A.'”

Good at Goodbyes” by Polly Baker is available online worldwide beginning November 19th, 2013.

Stanley Progman releases new LP 'Journey One'

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

The DJ and composer of digital music known as Stanley Progman has released his latest LP album, titled, “Journey One.” The album has been specifically arranged and released as a continuous mix, providing a flow and emotional spectrum that is otherwise hindered by punctuated song tracks. The album is comprised of 11 original EDM compositions written and produced by Progman, himself.

Progman cites as main artistic influences a pantheon of EDM musicians familiar to all fans of the genre: DJ Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, and Tiesto. His own compositions envelop most of the core principles agreed upon by these titanic DJs, but only as a foundation upon which he builds his own sonic structure.

Progman's music is more spacious and less cluttered than the largest portion of available EDM, utilizing clean, precise phrasing and innovative melody structures. Some of his songs recall many of the best elements of traditional trance music. He describes his style as, “trance-minded, progressive electronic dance music,” a term that suits his sound very well.

Stanley Progman is one of very few classically trained EDM writers. He attended both music school and DJ school. He is both a champion and critic of the contemporary do-it-yourself atmosphere of music making.

“I believe it’s a really exciting time for music,” he writes. “Artists have got powerful tools in their hands to present their music the way they want to. And this is absolutely great, because most labels are not so flexible when it comes to discovering and developing unique talents. That’s why I go my own way with this album.”

Progman has been outspoken in his distaste for the big, corporate music industry, and has made his music widely available to casual listeners and professional DJs in appropriate formats for both.

“There’s no need to give away the rights to labels to see your music buried in tons of other releases,” he writes. “It’s much better to really try doing something your own, unique way!”

The album has been released on the up-and-coming Jojam music records label. New Movement of Sounds songs included on the record are “Change,” “Acid Rain,” “Blue Soul,” “Revolution,” “Blind Fold,” “Lost,” “Time and Space,” “Kathmandu Bazaar,” “Hold On,” “Among Clouds,” and “Jindhage.” In addition to the remarkable skills of Movement of Sounds, the “Time and Space” LP features the added talents of such artists as Meghan Mckown, Cosmos Ray, and Heather Rose.

Intuitively, the Movement of Sounds repertoire is full of parallels and sonic likenesses with which their own signature style can be easily compared.

“Movement of Sounds is musical journey from East to West and everything in between,” writes Movement of Sounds with regard to their mode of EDM composition. In music by Movement of Sounds, they write, “the diverse spectrum of sound is glued together with a sprinkle of 'dub' elements to paint a sonic collage.”

Movement of Sounds began music very young. “I started playing guitar when I was 12 years old,” he writes. “I played all kinds of music until the day, back in the '90s, when I got influenced by all the acid jazz bands form England.”

Thus began the trip into a broader, EDM-hightened consciousness. As a result of the endless possibilities offered by the genre and a personal set of principles that add complexity and intellect to the music, Movement of Sounds' new record revolves around themes of “Positivity, social awareness, environmental consciousness, dreams, and the wonders of the world.”

They conclude their dedication of the record by saying, “This album is a tribute to all the revolutionaries: musicians, artists, scientists, etc., from the last century.”

Sara Kerr and Chris Connor release new singles 'He’ll Be There' and 'When You Smile'

The singing and songwriting team of Sara Kerr and Chris Connor have released two official singles, “He'll be There” and “When You Smile.” Both of the tracks are gorgeously, impeccably performed by Sara Kerr, and written with the uncanny flow and grace which fans of Chris Connor have come to expect from him. They have been co-written by Andy Haldane. These songs are stylized in the earnest, sonorous overtones of '60s-era soul, and each is easily excellent enough to stand beside the very best songs of the genre. In addition to being remarkable music for audiophiles everywhere, “He'll Be There” and “When You Smile” are being released as benefits, with all proceeds being shared equally between the Parkinson's UK and Shelter Scotland charities.

Sara Kerr is perhaps best known for heading the soul and mod music band, Button Up, since 2011.
She is well respected in the Glasgow, Scotland area for her stunning vocal clarity and powerful natural timbre. Her knack for classy articulation combined with passionate intonation are reminiscent of chanteuses such as Nancy Sinatra and Francoise Hardy.

Songwriter Chris Connor describes her: “She is also very much in demand as an accomplished session singer. This unassuming singer-songwriter delivers a powerful and soulful vocal performance, but prefers to stay out of the limelight.”

Connor himself, who is the creative force behind “He'll Be There” and “When You Smile,” cites as main artistic influences Bobby Womack, Luther Vandross and Bruno Mars. Singer Kerr lists Aretha Franklin, Soul to Soul and Elvis Presley. Intuitively, their music bears hallmarks of each of these legendary performers. A distinct and beautiful gospel thread runs through these singles, backed by a Stax and Motown ambiance in the studio production that polishes their finish to a high shine.

“'He’ll Be There' is an uplifting gospel song which features an amazing, soulful vocal performance from Sara Kerr,” Connor writes. “I wrote this song for anyone who is afraid, in pain or feels like giving up. 'When You Smile' is a cheerful, upbeat love-song with an infectious chorus, which I wrote for someone special in my life.”

“He'll Be There” and “When You Smile,” by Chris Connor and Sara Kerr, are available online worldwide beginning 18 November 2013.

Pirate Signal release new EP 'The War of Art'

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

The rock ensemble from St. Louis, Missouri known as Pirate Signal have released their latest EP record album, titled, “The War of Art.” The album is comprised of four original tracks, “Kiss Me Like You Like It,” “We Don't Care,” “Salt on Wound,” and “Blood and Guns.” The album is their debut EP record and the most significant official release from Pirate Signal to date.

Pirate Signal have made several live appearances in the Chicago and St. Louis area to celebrate and publicize “The War of Art,” with more to come. A raw, rocking, bluesy, and indie-flavored album with aggression in its nerves and a ton of soul, “The War of Art” stands as an exclamation to the world that these musicians aren't here to play yesterday's rehashes.

Pirate Signal cite as main artistic influences legendary rock crews such as the Beatles, Foo Fighters, Black Keys, Led Zepplin, Radiohead, and Sigur Ros. Elements of each can be distinguished in Pirate Signal's own sound, but the end result is unique to them, alone.

Their official bio opens with the a-propos description, “With a name like Pirate Signal, many are left wondering what kind of music these four might play. Whereas 'alternative' was once used to describe every band, artist or group under the moon, this would be a good place to start.”

They write of the themes of their new album that there are several inherent messages for listeners to glean from it.

“Life is hard,” they write, “but you can make it. Take responsibility for yourself. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Love carelessly.”

Pirate Signal (not be confused with the alternative hip-hop outfit from Denver, CO) began with singer-guitarist Josh Halbower in 2008. Years of developing a strong lineup lead to his being joined by Keith Kettmann on guitar and keyboard, Nick Stergos on bass guitar, and AJ Martka on drums/percussion.

“The War of Art” by Pirate Signal is available online worldwide beginning 16 November 2013.

Kim Therkildsen releases new EP 'Salary Man Live' and single 'Suitcase By The Door'

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

The singer and songwriter known as Kim Therkildsen has released his new EP, “Salary Man Live” and concurrent single, “Suitcase By The Door.” The EP is comprised of three original Therkildsen songs, “Broken Circle,” “Soldier of Fortune,” and two renditions of the title track, “Salary Man,” all of which cuts have been recorded live for an approximate total listening time of 15 minutes. Both the extended-play album and the single have been released on the FoCo Music records label. Collectively a set of folk, country and traditional rock 'n' roll acoustic tracks loaded with groove and soul, “Salary Man Live” and “Suitcase by the Door” are destined to place this musician from Norway on the global map.

Kim Therkildsen's style is rooted in many American music styles, rock, blues, and country most predominantly, with also a dash of boogie and ballads. His voice is rich and natural in tone and timbre, with a drawl that often sounds reminiscent of Elvis Presley crossed with Waylon Jennings. He cites as main artistic influences such legends as Ry Cooder, James Taylor, Little Feat, and Willie Nelson, but notes also that, “The list goes on forever.”

Upon being asked to expand on the themes inherent in these new releases, Therkildsen writes that the overall message is to, “Enjoy life, be happy, but beware of hard times ahead.” His single, “Suitcase by the Door” is his personal testament of life and playing music on tour.

Therkildsen has been playing music since the 1970s, making him one of the old-school professionals with experience running bone deep. Having begun guitar playing at 17, his name is now well-known in Norway, where he has been playing for many years. He gained popularity with both his trio, the Harmophones, and his quintet, Get Rhythm! The last decade has seen him playing with P.G. Roness in their popular duo, Løse Jakker (Loose Jackets).

He entered his first official music contest at 55 with his autobiographical single, “Suitcase by the Door.” He was selected by Bandwagon over 12 other bands in their regional finals.

The EP, “Salary Man Live,” and the single, “Suitcase by the Door,” by Kim Therkildsen are available online worldwide beginning 15 November 2013.
