Rap artist D.C. releases new single, “Guap-A-Mole”

The hip-hop artist known as D.C. (and also known as Money ScorseZe) has released his newest single, titled, “Guap-A-Mole.” The track is an homage to enjoying life in light of the human need for money, which the song symbolizes as a mound of green guacamole, stylized as “Guap-A-Mole.” The song's instrumentation relies heavily on percussion and does not implement sounds or effects that might obscure its real feature, the rapping of D.C., himself. D.C.'s writing is erudite and careful, his delivery aggressive, confident and musing. The track stands as the best contemporary example of his music to date.

Derrick “D.C.,” who was born in Columbus, OH, considers the eighties to be one of his primary musical influences. This is because the 1980s period originally infused him with his addiction to hip-hop music. “The culture had its own way of voicing its likes and dislikes,” writes D.C. “I was drawn in by the wordplay and the witty use of metaphors, and before long I was a stone-cold hip-hop junkie, an addict to what many people said at the time was 'just a fad.'” The artist names, among his other main influences, legends of the urban subculture such as Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Cold Play, Scarface, and Wale.

D.C.'s main themes can be highly contrasted against one another, which can cause some listeners to wonder about his intentions. This is easily seen in the following lines taken from his bio, which directly discuss his lyrical content: “While D.C. wants to address the beauty of music, and artistry and how it relates to the world, Money ScorseZe would oftentimes rather be drowning in bottles and women, and inundated with mind-altering herb.”

Regarding this duality of character, D.C. writes, “My music resonates with my fans because, like them, it shows that people are complex individuals who are never one thing all of the time.”

D.C.'s single “Guap-A-Mole” is available online everywhere beginning March 13, 2013.
