The singer and songwriter known as
Justin Nathanielson has released two new EP albums, “Archive Box
EP” and “Jus' Brown Songs.” The two records have been proudly
published as independent releases. Each EP sports six original tracks
and approximately 25 minutes' worth of alternative rock. Three
singles from the records are also being released. Inventive,
well-written, and based on some of the most heartfelt vocal tones to
appear in 2016, “Archive Box EP” and “Jus' Brown Songs” from
Justin Nathanielson are notable alt-rock additions from the indie
world to kick off the fall season.
Originally from Freeport on Long
Island, New York, Justin Nathanielson cites as main artistic
influences such disparate legends as Portishead, David Bowie, the
Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Sade, Alice in Chains, Led Zeppelin,
Muddy Waters, U2, the Doors, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, John
Lee Hooker, the Police, Earth, Wind & Fire, Santana, the Black
Crowes, Stone Temple Pilots, Johnny Cash, and Genesis.
His own music borrows mostly from the
alternative rock movement of the early-mid nineties. The singing of
AIC's Jerry Cantrell and late front man Layne Staley can be heard in
Nathanielson's eerie, sharp harmonies, and his careful attention to
song structure and lyric poignancy also recall songwriting like that
of Scott Weiland's (Stone Temple Pilots) and Chris Robinson's (the
Black Crowes).
Asked to expound on the themes of his
new albums, Justin Nathanielson writes, “The message is about
everyday livelihood occurrences, getting to know someone and/or
experiences whether it's relationships, good, mediocre, personal or
bad.”
Currently residing in Georgia's
Milledgeville/Sparta area, vocalist Justin Nathanielson is also
multi-instrumentalist and professional musician playing rhythm and
lead guitar, auto-harp, keyboards, piano, bass guitar, drum
programming and percussion. A veteran of the armed forces, he is also
a veteran of many bands over the years. While he mainly operates now
as a solo act, he has said of himself that he has “always been
committed to maintain optimism and a collaborative chemistry, just as
other musicians should.”
He has written and recorded music in
many genres, often blending two or more, including grunge rock, blues
rock, spirituals, alternative, trip hop, electronica, Latin, reggae,
East Indian, Native American, and country.
“Archive Box EP” and “Jus' Brown
Songs” by Justin Nathanielson are available online at over 700
digital music stores worldwide beginning 23 September 2016.
