The songwriter and
producer of alt-rock known as Paula Punch has released her latest
official single, “Tonight.” Like Punch's other popular recent
releases, the single has been proudly published as an independent
release without the involvement of the corporate music industry on
the Punch Park record label. Coming on the tails of her popular “Holy
Water” single and “Don't Look Down” LP album, “Tonight”
evidences yet again that the world has much music in store from Paula
Punch.
For this, her fifth
official release of 2018 (!) Sydney, Australia's Paula Punch cites as
main artistic influences The Pretenders, The Eurythmics, Blondie,
Joni Mitchell, I'm with Her, LP, Sigrid, David Bowie, Elton John,
John Lennon, Ron Sexsmith, and Lucinda Williams.
Built with all the
trappings for which Punch's fans have come to love her, “Tonight”
stands out for having a cosmic tone which ripples out from it like
the rings of Saturn.
“With 'Tonight' we
have tried to create a sense of interplanetary wonder,” writes the
Punch Park label of the track. “Being in love is a 'colliding of
hearts' and a celebration of being truly alive.”
Paula Punch is fresh off
her Californian “Don't Look Down” tour with Jackie Bristow and
Mark Punch, yet already plugging tracks into another record planned
for release in 2019. Her live band in Sydney includes the talents of
guitarist Rob Gist (Girl Overboard) and keyboardist Marko Simec
(Waiting for Guinness, Soul Movers), plus other players from the
“Punch Sessions” show curated by Phil Punch of Electric Avenue
Studios which showcases local songwriting talent.
The music of Paula Punch
began with her performing in the Philharmonic Motet Choir and
fronting several bands at her university. Soon after, she began
working as a session singer, and quickly graduated to providing
backing vocals for Ed Kuepper. Her solo career proved inevitable.
“Tonight” was
recorded at Sydney's Electric Avenue Studios and Tone Master
Productions, produced, mixed and mastered by Robin Gist, and recorded
by Robin Gist with Philip Punch.
“Tonight” by
Paula Punch on the Punch Park label is available from over 600
quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early,
alt-rock fans.
