The songwriter and
producer of hip hop and modern RnB known as Vanguard the Blacklight
has released his latest official EP album, “Mind Flight Part 1.”
The EP album contains four original Blacklight tracks for an
approximate total listening time of 20 mins. It has been proudly
published on the Sound Rage Records independent label without the
involvement of the corporate music industry. Narrative,
kaleidoscopic, and based on multifaceted beats even more than the
carefully penned urban poetry, “Mind Flight Part 1” showcases
Vanguard the Blacklight as one of the most intriguing hip-hop and
modern RnB artists of the year so far and promises that he has plenty
more where that came from.
In addition to the skills
of Vanguard, himself, “Mind Flight Part 1” also features a
performance by Defrantz Forrest.
Los Angeles's Vanguard the
Blacklight cites as main artistic influences Quincy Jones, Jimmy Jam
& Terry Luis, Kraftwerk, O'Bryan Burnette II, and Herbie Hancock.
Vanguard the Blacklight's own sound takes elements from each of these
and adds veteran MC vox to slick, top-shelf production for a style
all his own. Colored with shadowy overtones and featuring both
old-school synth and contemporary studio frills, “Mind Flight Part
1” by Vanguard the Blacklight is a sound to behold.
Asked to describe the
overall meaning of “Mind Flight Part 1,” Vanguard the Blacklight
writes simply: “It doesn’t matter where you came from – it only
matters where you end up.”
Vanguard the Blacklight's
current official bio describes him as an LA native who “developed a
passion and ear for music growing up in an industry that continues to
thrive on creativity and diversity.” It goes on to note that he
“honed his craft behind the scenes working alongside music
visionaries as a
musician, DJ, and music
producer.” Today, Vanguard the Blacklight also works in his studio
as a sought-after sound designer and music composer for motion
pictures.
