Hip hop label G.L.O.A.T. Ent. releases new album 'Item 9'

The independent hip-hop label known as G.L.O.A.T. Ent. has released its latest album, “Item 9.” The record comes hot on the heels of G.L.O.A.T. Ent.'s recent LP album, “War of Words: Extended Clip,” which dropped in July 2018 and continues to pick up critical steam. Varied, textured, and bringing the same creativity and aggressive urban poetry heard by fans new and old in that release, “Item 9” stands as further evidence that hip-hop listeners have every reason to take note of this heavy-hitting duo from the American south.

G.L.O.A.T. Ent. have cited as main artistic influences a broad variety of sounds and styles, including such names as Tupac Shakur, Led Zeppelin, Kanye West, Tom Petty, Green Day, Eminem, and Tech N9NE. Their own sound on “Item 9” continues to deliver what founders Michael Heathen and G. Champion do best, top-notch urban poetry set to brightly polished production, beats and samples.

Asked to describe the overall theme of “Item 9,” G.L.O.A.T. Ent. writes back simply, “End Marijuana Prohibition, NOW!” 'Item 9' may refer to a slang term for marijuana featured in the 2008 comedy, “Pineapple Express.”

Growing up loving the sounds of classic rock's most influential bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Doors, Michael Heathen later came to be inspired by hip-hop titans such as Rage Against the Machine, Tupac, and Tech N9ne. seemed to usher in a new dimension to Heathen's musical mind frame. Michael Heathen has previously released several mixtapes and two full-length albums. His music can be heard on Pandora, YouTube, Spotify, and more.

G. Champion is a rapper and songwriter with mounting fame in the Dallas Metroplex. He credits his current popularity to his dedication to music writing, studio time and giving back the same support he is shown. His current official bio describes his music as “diverse with depth into real-life situations that many people can relate to. His music is inspired by Kanye West, Tupac, Andre 3000, Nas and Eminem.”

Asked to comment on the start of their collaboration, G.L.O.A.T. Ent. write, “Started with falling in love with the frequency of what we heard. We wanted to create more things to love!”
