The up and coming rapper
from Baltimore known as Young Fortune has released his latest
official single, “Young & Reckless.” The track has been
proudly published on the Fortune Empire Records independent music
label without the involvement of the corporate music industry.
Classy, flashy, and bringing more boom-bap than much this season has
had in store, “Young & Reckless” is a loud sign that Young
Fortune is a name to watch in 2018 and beyond.
Young Fortune cites as
main artistic influences Nas, 50 Cent, Jay Z, and Fabulous. His own
sound takes the strongest elements of each of these, blends them into
a new style, and adds his own embellishments for a result which will
please fans of the old-school, the new underground movement, and
everything in-between.
Asked to describe the
general themes and aims of his latest single, Young Fortune replies
only, “Better music.”
While “Young &
Reckless” represents the most prominent release from Young Fortune
in recent memory, it is far from his first appearance in hip hop.
“I started out
freestyling in siphers and smoking blunts,” writes Young Fortune.
“We called it getting lifted. Then I began actually writing my
lyrics. Also, I would hear beats in my head of oldies and beat box
with my mouth and then hear used by Puffy or Master P.”
Young Fortune's current
official bio describes what happened next with clarity:
“The music offered a freedom that couldn't be found elsewhere. It wasn't long before Young Fortune had discovered a passion and some hidden talents for making rap music. He then began releasing mixtapes to his peers, straight from the studio to the streets. It was even more rewarding do gain fans and people who appreciated his music. Young Fortune went back to school and got his GED and went to college to study Business Management & Administration.”

With his newfound
knowledge, Fortune opened the doors of a new label, Fortune Empire
Records (FER). His first success came in 2008 with a debut record,
“Recession Proof.” Next came First Lady Jae's album, “Street
Royalty New Millennium,” and a sequel, “Recession Proof 2
Diamond” (both 2013). They have since toured in the USA and
continue to make music.
“Young &
Reckless” by Young Fortune from Fortune Empire Records is available
