The singer and songwriter known as
Gedina has released her debut album, “Tell 'Em.” The record
contains 12 original Gedina tracks for an approximate total listening
time of 40 minutes. It has been proudly published as an independent
release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. A
seamless blend of pop, blues, R&B and soul music, “Tell 'Em”
stands as evidence that Gedina has plenty in store for music fans in
2018 and beyond.
Gedina is perhaps most famous for her
appearance on the popular television program, “The Voice,” in
which she competed against other singers as a vocalist, but her debut
LP record, “Tell 'Em,” proves she doesn't need game show exposure
to make waves as a musician.
“I haven’t been able to put 'Tell
'Em' into words,” she writes of her new record. “Ironic, I know.
Even my bio feels a bit forced on the subject, but when I sat down
just now, the connection from my heart to my head to my hands was
flawless, and I knew exactly what to write. Thank God!”
Gedina has described her debut LP as
having been written by “the 5-year-old kindergartener, 15-year-old
diva, and the 25-year-old woman curious about how to find calm after
many storms that exist within me.”
An extremely deliberate record in terms
of songwriting, Gedina hasn't mucked about with her lyrics, melodies
or harmonies.
“Every song has an intention,” she
writes, “a principle motivating its purpose for coming to fruition.
I think people will draw their own conclusions or connection when
listening but every note, every word, every musical choice is
specific and necessary.”
Asked to describe her creative process,
Gedina takes herself out of the equation.
“I just had to get my ego outta the
way … This ultimately led me to a place of real power – not
all-consuming, omnipotent power, but tapped in, turned on and
creating from my highest self.”
Nevertheless, “Tell 'Em” remains a
very personal record.
“I’ve definitely written my fair share of angry, bitter, revenge songs because of the burden of trauma, fear of rejection or abandonment,” Gedina says. “'Tell 'Em' is my first response to those songs with pure accountability. It’s not a wagging of a finger with a hand on a hip anthem of look what you did to me, but rather here is my story, my part, my truth.”

She's also quick to note that, “It’s
just chapter one.”
