Randy MC releases new EP album '#StartAsianLove'

The songwriter and producer of modern pop music known as Randy MC has released his latest official EP album, “#StartAsianLove.” It contains six original Randy MC tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 mins. It has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. With undeniable hooks and a jazzy, RnB-laced style, “#StartAsianLove” showcases Randy MC as one of the most intriguing pop artists 2021 has seen.

Taiwan-born, SoCal-raised Randy MC cites as main artistic influences Jacob Collier, AndrĂ© Previn, Bruno Mars, Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, and Hiromi Uehara. As this roster may suggest, Randy MC (Martono-Chai) not only has a classical training at a top music conservatory, but also a background in alt-pop, r&b, rock, jazz-fusion, afrobeat and world music. Building on this with an emphasis on textbook-perfect songwriting and surgically precise vocal work and instrumentation, “#StartAsianLove” by Randy MC has a little something for everybody.

Randy MC's “#StartAsianLove” EP record kicks off with his sixth official single, “To Know You.” Asked to describe the overall theme of “#StartAsianLove,” Randy MC writes that as signified by the opening track, the album is “about getting to know a stranger and becoming that special friend they never had.”

The official website of Randy MC describes him as “an artist that epitomizes the very essence of the modern era,” and “a multitalented Pianist-Singer-Songwriter, Music Director, Arranger, and Teacher of Western Art and Contemporary Commercial Music.”

The artist spent seven years exploring the American South for musical inspiration, hence he proudly notes that “much of America's diverse Southern cultures influence Randy's compositional and playing style.” He has also said that he makes music “driven by his desire to motivate, inspire, comfort, and spread love and joy to all those that hear it,” and “believes we all have voices, and we should use it to better the world.”

Inspired by his mother, likewise an accomplished musician, Randy MC has been playing music since the age of three. Since that time, he has been performing, producing, music directing, teaching, and coaching other artists all over CA, WV, and the DMV (DC, MD, & VA) for over a decade. He offers online & in-home music lessons and coaching for artists at all levels. He has a knack for arranging and orchestrating music scores. Randy is available for solo and collaborative performances, such as weddings and concerts, as well as piano tuning and restringing. The rest of his official bio may be found at his official website (link provided below).

In New Orleans, especially,” says Randy MC, “I had the absolute honor to vibe and play alongside the drummers in their drum circles hosted by the Congo Square Preservation Society in Louis Armstrong Park every clear-weather Sunday afternoon. This was where I found the inspiration to produce a a great chunk of my album. I connected with all kinds of artists from different socioeconomic and musical backgrounds. Some have become my friends, students, and fans who love my music.”

Wolf Camp releases debut album 'Folklore'

The songwriter and producer of rap and hip-hop music known as Wolf Camp has released his official debut album, “Folklore.” It contains seven original Wolf Camp tracks for an approximate total listening time of half an hour. It includes his popular single, “The City,” which dropped winter 2020. Like the single, “Folklore” has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. Dark, smooth, and bringing some of the best urban poetry from the artist yet, “Folklore” proves Wolf Camp can bring high-impact hooks and rhymes across an entire record and solidifies him as one of Ohio's most interesting rappers on the mic today.

Cincinatti's Wolf Camp has cited as main artistic influences the East Coast scene of the early '90s, Southern rap, and a few select West Coast artists. The result is a clutch of tracks based largely on lines and beats with sparse, effective melodies and the additional talents of skilled musicians like Lauren Eylise and Adam Pleimen. Fans of the old school will find much to appreciate in “Folklore” and few reasons to complain.

Asked to describe the overall theme of “Folklore,” Wolf Camp says that “Hip hop is still alive.” He also expresses several directives for his audience in six short words with the kind of brevity which gives “Folklore” much of its power:

Think, grow, beware and enjoy life.”

Another key ingredient is Camp's use of hip hop's ability to use more aspects of music than most other genres.

What I've always loved about rap music,” writes Wolf Camp, “is the endless possibilities of expression. You take rock, country, classical, heavy metal etc... and make it a dope song.”

Camp previously discussed the album's single, “The City,” as being his own “unique take on the City” inspired largely by Stevie Wonder's own popular single, “Living for the City.” Camp said of the track when it dropped last December:

It's about the City at both ends of society, high and low. There are good times you can have in the City — but there's also a harsh reality in the streets.”

He also said he styled his sound on “The City” so audiences would come away feeling “that they just heard something fresh and original that resonates with them on some level.”

The artist's current official bio reads:

Wolf Camp, born Ralph Camp, is a hip-hop artist from Cincinnati, Ohio. His smooth delivery of double entendres blend with lyrical criticism paints vivid pictures. Wolf Camp spent several years with a local Cincinnati rap group before going solo.

Synthpop favorite Vaughty releases official video 'Bottle'

Prominent synthpop scene favorite Vaughty has dropped his latest official single and video, “Bottle.” The track takes Vaughty's sound to new heights of intensity while the video explores new depths of profundity. The UK's synth mogul has previously proven himself capable of studio-level production and major-label audience reach, yet “Bottle” showcases Vaughty's video chops in a similarly striking light arguably for the first time.

Bottle” is the second single from Vaughty's imminent “Dark Society” album slated for Q1 2022. Vaughty indie label Aggro Monkey Records says the Orwellian LP will deal with “the shadowy elements of humanity, the negative effects of technology, and the like.”

Much can be said of the songwriting and execution of “Bottle” both in and out of the studio, but longtime fans of Vaughty used to his dependable taste and high sonic standards may find themselves taken aback by the visual showmanship exhibited in this present release.

Taken together with the theatrical prelude, the video tops out around the seven-minute mark, making it the new centerpiece of Vaughty's decade-long catalog. It features several easter eggs for fans of Vaughty and fans of synthpop alike, such as the standout appearance of Depeche Mode photographer Brian Griffin, and a momentary shot of DM keyboardist Alan Wilder being called on Vaughty's cell.

In addition to the considerable talents of Vaughty, himself, “Bottle” also features production work from Andy Marlow (Marc Almond, Tracey Ullman) and Kevin Paul (Depeche Mode, Nick Cave, Sr. Mix Engineer Mute Records), as well as the visual artistry of director Szenasi Akos.

Born Vaughn Eunson in South Africa, today Vaughty writes, records, produces and lives in London as he has for twenty-some years. He also runs the popular Vaughn George synth music YouTube channel which has become a global hub of synth and piano enthusiasts, experts, teachers, students and professional musicians over the last five years. It boasts many remarkable interviews with legendary record producers, musicians and artists in general, and currently services circa 21,000 subscribers.

I want to thank my loyal fans for supporting me throughout the years and I can promise you that 'Dark Society'' is going to be Vaughty as you've never heard him before,” Vaughty says. “I am very excited about this album — I feel that this album best represents who I am as an artist as well as my personal music taste.”

Bottle” by Vaughty on the Aggro Monkey Records label is available from quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early, synthpop fans. Very early.

Funk and R&B veteran Barry Wilkins releases second 2021 single 'Do It Like This'

Funk and R&B veteran Barry Wilkins has dropped his second official single for 2021, “Do It Like This.” Like his surprise drop of popular single “202” which startled the funk community last spring, “Do It Like This” has been proudly published as an independent release recorded, mixed, and produced at his own B. Creative Imagery Design and Recording Studio (link provided below). Featuring the classic funk and R&B sound which can never be imitated, “Do It Like This” proves Barry Wilkins has much more in store for fans than just a comeback single.

Tyrone, Georgia's Barry Wilkins can make funk the way it's supposed to be done because he has roots playing in legitimate Stax Records artists such as Art Jerry Miller, the Mad-Lads, and the Bar-Kays. He has cited as influences Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Hazel, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Prince, as well as the legendary Funkadelics and Earth, Wind and Fire, with whom he shares many sonic traits.

'Do It Like This' is a funky groove that is relaxed and in the pocket,” says Wilkins of the new track. “By that I mean the tempo creates the relaxed groove, and pushing the '1' keeps it in the pocket.”

As fanatics of funk know, “The 1” refers to James Brown's steadfast principle that funk music be concretely founded on the first beat of each measure of a song. It's a bulletproof way to ensure a track has a tight danceability from start to finish. “Do It Like This” has more than that, though. It's also built on an irresistible hook.

“The original guitar line felt good and made it easy to build around it,” Wilkins says. “I love energy and dynamics and even at that tempo, I was able to lift the song up.”

Lifting songs up, and lifting people up with songs, too, are activities with which Barry Wilkins is all too familiar.

I want the feeling and groove of the track to strike a nerve,” he writes. “'Do It Like This' means to open your eyes and realize what gift you have been blessed with and 'Do It.' Express yourself. Just as an example, whether you play blues, funk, rock or classical guitar, reach to do the best and whatever is best for you.”

Asked to describe the overall theme of “Do It Like This,” Barry Wilkins writes:

There is no specific way to do something. You can reach your accomplishments in so many different ways and from so many different roads.”

Do It Like This” by Barry Wilkins is available from quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early, funk and R&B music fans.
