Stark Sound Lab releases new EP 'Assembly Line'

The master of Moog known as Stark Sound Lab has released its final EP for 2016, "Assembly Line." This EP was first published November 8th and has been enhanced for this release. It has been published on the Stark Records independent label, making it the latest in a flurry of quality Singles, EPs and Albums from Stark Sound Lab that include "New Day," "Wally's Woes," "Haunting Memories" and two volumes of "Vintage Undercover Moog," all dropped in Q4 2016. Marked by mechanical melody lines and deliberately synthetic syncopation, "Assembly Line" is poised to become the new flagship EP from Stark Sound Lab for 2016. Two of the most popular tracks, Doug's Garage Band and Ant Farm were released as singles on September 17th and Oct 24th, respectively.

Canada's Stark Sound Lab has cited as influences the Residents, Bob Moog, Vangelis, Wendy Carlos, Dick Hyman, Brian Eno, and Holly Herndon. Its own style is founded on a vintage collection of Moog keyboards which would fill any aficionado of classic instruments with awe. Its series of records explore the possibilities of these Moogs with clever enthusiasm, but also create collections of original songs which have their own individual character apart from the others.

And "Assembly Line?"

Stark Sound Lab says, "It was inspired by working on the line." It is described as "a collection of electronic dance originals that keep things moving."

They have also alluded to Track 4 on the EP, giving "Special Thanks to Donald Trump for inspiring 'Electrical Votes,'" as well as "special thanks to Lamborghini Uptown Toronto for the sounds of the Lamborghini Huracán used on 'Doug's Garage Band.'"

Stark Sound Lab's current official bio describes the project as creating New Age, Minimalistic and Experimental Sound Designs that invoke impressionistic and expressionistic experiences.

"Each soundscape is crafted so what you hear becomes illusory, with some sounds appearing to be inches from you, several feet away or far in the distance, while others emanate from directions that are virtually inexplicable."

The Stark Sound Lab story begins in Marin County and San Francisco, California, 1968, when the Moog keyboard sound was all but ubiquitous and revolution was in the air. The late 1970s brought SSL to the North Bay. Stark Sound Lab now writes, performs and produces music in Oakville, Ontario.

"Assembly Line" from Stark Sound Lab, as well as the rest of the growing SSL repertoire, is available at over 700 quality digital music stores online worldwide now.

Experimental composer Josh Stewart releases new LP 'Proemial'

The experimental composer internationally known as Josh Stewart has released his new, epic LP album, “Proemial.” The record contains eight original tracks plus seven bonus commentary entries for an approximate total listening time of one hour. Sweeping, soaring, multifaceted and as complex as the listener's imagination allows it to be, “Proemial” is a record for hardcore aficionados and ambient music fans alike.

Josh Stewart cites as main artistic influences composers of soundtracks and soundscapes such as Olafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Hans Zimmer, and Thomas Newman, but also forward-thinking pop groups like Bon Iver.

His “Proemial” album differs from the rest of his repertoire, as well as from nearly everything else the music world has to offer, in having been written from the percussion upward, rather than the other way around. This puts the drums in a directorial role controlling the mode and tone of the music instead of relegating them to mere timekeepers.

“It's really this conversation piece between a drum kit and music around it,” writes Stewart. “The concept began with this idea: what happens when a drummer sits down behind a drum kit, and plays with no set tempo and no set grooves, no direction, just a blank canvas for him to say whatever he feels?”

Stewart then composed the rest of the piece around – not to say on top of – the drums, allowing them to keep a primary and prominent place in each of the eight selections.

“So it was this experiment of beginning a series of compositional pieces with a drum performance, and then seeing how that would inspire music that would later be written around it.”

The drummer in question is Atlanta, GA's rhythm machine, TJ Rodriguez. At 20 years old, Rodriguez has already made a career for himself after studying percussion at the Atlanta Institute of Music. A full-time drummer for various artists around the city, playing drums is his principle business. Stewart and Rodriguez have been friends for a little over two years. TJ Rodriguez delivers his own line of commentary about “Proemial” on Track 11, “The Heart of the Drummer.”

Josh Stewart's music career began from a bard's perspective – that music originates in the telling of tales. Asked to describe his start as a composer, he answers, “Out of my own curiosity of storytelling. I didn't grow up playing or writing music. But when I began college, that was when music and writing began to become an interest and byproduct of loving to tell stories and of having stories told to me.”

But Stewart is also known for making music from the perspective of the listener. “Proemial” (from the Greek for 'introductory') serves as a self-examination for him, but also of the music fan.

“[Making the album] was a process of deconstructing how I write music. Hopefully, this gives listeners a fresh way of listening to a song. But even deeper, how a drum kit can talk to music, and command it. It was less about genre or song structure but focused more on color and conversation within music. It was an organic experience in seeing what music can come from. It was a true representation of what the drummer was feeling and thinking while playing. The music personifies his feeling and emotions.”

“Proemial” by Josh Stewart is available online worldwide beginning late 20 January 2016 and may be sampled at the official Josh Stewart website now (link provided below). Get in early, fans of ambient and experimental music. Very early.

Vicci Flame releases new hip hop single 'We Already Did'

The up-and-coming hip hop artist known as Vicci Flame has released his latest single, “We Already Did.” The track has been published as an independent release without the direction of the corporate music industry. Unique, creative, and bringing a sound never before heard in the West Coast, East Coast, or Dirty South underground scenes, “We Already Did” by Vicci Flame is a single rap fans everywhere in the world should hear.

Vicci Flame cites as main artistic influences Lil Wayne, Future, Tupac Shakur, Generation X, Dr. Dre, and Will I Am. His own sound on “We Already Did” might be most likened to Dre in the deepness of its groove, but the tone is something all his own and can't be compared. In fact, it is the single's originality which led Flame to producing the song on his own to begin with.

“I went to a studio and they couldn't reproduce the beat I heard in my head,” Vicci Flame says, “so I bought equipment and made it myself.”

The result is a track which immediately stands out on its own. Imagining studio professionals having a hard time reproducing “We Already Did” as Vicci Flame has created it is easy.

The track has a message, too. Flame describes it, “We are already having fun. We already did what others are trying to do – so let's just have a good time.”

While “We Already Did” may be the most outstanding release by Vicci Flame to date, it doesn't represent his absolute beginning in music.

“Ever since I first heard Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean,'” he says, “I knew what I wanted to do with my life – learn how to record and produce music.”

Since those days Vicci Flame has produced for many industry and upcoming artists and has been called “something like an urban legend in the streets and in recording studios.” He has drawn comparisons to the Weeknd and Young Thug. He is currently writing his first screenplay, “Get Yo Bandz Up,” and has a clothing line called VICCI.

“We Already Did” by Vicci Flame is available online worldwide beginning Christmas, 2016. Get in early, hip hop fans.

The DJ and music producer known as Conal Flood has released his latest EDM single, “Playing Me.” The track has been proudly published on the Resident Records independent music label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Classy, soulful and built on a foundation of rhythm 'n' blues and contemporary digital dance music, “Playing Me” is evidence that Conal Flood is a name to watch in 2017.

Ireland's Conal Flood cites as main artistic influences Above & Beyond, Anjunabeats, and Anjunadeep. Conal Flood has spent most of his life creating music. His own Resident Records label is dedicated to giving back to the music community.

“All I want to do is share with the world what I love doing,” says Flood. “After years of production I started Resident Records to help other artists like myself get forward in an already tough industry. Experimental Moog mastermind Stark Sound Lab releases 'Wally's Woes' single

Stark Sound Lab has released his newest electronica single, “Wally's Woes.” The track is the tenth official release to come from Canada's Stark Records independent music label. Marked by driving percussion, fugue-like chord progressions and SSL's inimitable Moog melodies, “Wally's Woes” proves Stark Sound Lab to be among the most inventive electronica artists for 2017.

In the past Stark Sound Lab has cited as inspirations such legends as Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Hans Zimmer, Brian Eno, and Keith Emerson – Emerson being ever-present in “Wally's Woes” – but SSL insists that music artists are not the source from which their latest track has sprung.

“In the case of 'Wally's Woes,' there were no outside musical influences, just a gut-wrenching emotional reaction,” writes Stark Sound Lab. “Wally's Woes is a very emotional song that was written, performed and recorded while our mascot, Wally (four-year-old Boston Terrier) was in hospital fighting for his life after being poisoned.”

The track was recorded live using vintage, highly prized Moog keyboards: a System 55, a Voyager and a Model 15, each of which instruments boasts its own fan club around the world. It was dedicated to Wally the dog at Stark Records' website while he was still suffering from his illness.

“Wally is a shining star at Stark Sound Lab, barking at delivery vans and welcoming visitors,” writes Stark Sound Lab. “Our hearts sank knowing he might not return to us. So we did everything we could, got him the best veterinarian, prayed, and wrote music in his honour.”

It has been surmised that poisoned dog treats had been left on the sidewalk in a random act of malice. Thanks to Stark Sound Lab – and an excellent vet – this black intent has had the opposite effect of giving enjoyment to music lovers everywhere in the form of this raw, powerfully evocative, electronic prog-pop single, “Wally's Woes.”

And after all, there is a happy ending.

“Our prayers were answered when Wally was able to leave hospital and join us once again. It was truly a Christmas Miracle that Wally survived and is now with us again watching over Stark Sound Lab.”

“Wally's Woes” is available online worldwide from over 700 quality digital music outlets now. Get in early.

Mark de Monoloq releases new LP album 'Icosahedron'

The composer and producer of music known as Mark de Monoloq has released his newest LP album, “Icosahedron.” The record includes 20 original tracks for an approximate listening time approaching two hours. It has been proudly published as an independent release without the direction of the corporate music industry. Eclectic, ambient, experimental and exploratory, “Icosahedron” is Mark de Monoloq's crowning achievement to date and a great reason for music fans to experience his repertoire right away.

Canada's Mark de Monoloq cites as main artistic influences Boards Of Canada, Tycho, Flying Lotus, Justice, Brian Eno, Howard Shore, Jon Hopkins, Hans Zimmer, David Bowie, deadmau5, Björk, Aphex Twin, Imogen Heap, Moby, and James Newton Howard. This illustrious list proves Monoloq to be an artist with great music taste, and there are similarities between his work and elements from some of the above, but in the end his music is singular to his own creativity.

“I was introduced to the world of music around the age of 10 when I began taking piano lessons,” he writes. “I learned everything from theory to practice, which I was able to apply at the Royal Conservatory of Music.”

Though the result of classical training, Mark de Monoloq's music remains surprising and hard to pin down. Asked to elucidate the intended themes and meanings of his rather expansive record, he suggests a natural, sonic subjectivity guiding the process.

“The truth is that there really is no message other than what you make it to be. Everything is completely abstract. Of course, there is the underlying tone that the 'Icosahedron' brings. Its association with the Sacral Chakra, and the element of water helps to add definition to texture and flow, along with passion and pleasure. But as far as images and messages go, you tell me!”

An icosahedron is a polygon with 20 sides. It's no accident that Monoloq's record contains the same number of tracks, each with its own style and character. His current official bio colors him as a personable, curious adventurer in sound:

“My name is Mark de Monoloq. I compose electronic music, or rather, electronically treated acoustic music. One of my favorite tools is my Zoom H4N [a specialized handheld microphone] which at times, makes me feel that the world around me is the true musician at play. I love experimenting with sound design and pushing the tools I own to their limits. Even then, those limitations can be broken with the right amount of creativity. My only true goal with my music is to experiment. Not everyone will have the same experience as I do when listening to my music, but I suppose that's the point. It's all completely abstract. There is no message or images other than what you make it to be. The way I see it, the more rules I break, the better!”

Stark Sound Lab releases new EP 'New Day'

The electronica music project known as Stark Sound Lab (SSL) has released its latest EP album, “New Day.” The record contains five original tracks for a total listening time of about 15 minutes. It has been proudly published on the Stark Records independent music label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Postmodern, imaginative and pulsing with sonic color, “New Day” from Stark Sound Lab is a strikingly inventive release to round out Q4 2016.

Stark Sound Lab, which began recording its brand of far-out sound exploration in San Francisco in 1968, cites as main artistic influences the Residents, Bob Moog, Walter (Wendy) Carlos, Vangelis, Dick Hyman, and Hans Zimmer. This illustrious roster gives an idea of the high-caliber musical taste of Stark Sound Lab, but the general style and groove of SSL remains unique, even by the standards of the unbounded experimental-electronic genre.

Much of Stark Sound's singular tone comes from the specific selection of instruments involved.

Of this Stark Sound Lab writes, “With each new day comes new challenges. 'New Day' is a collection of experimental recordings inspired by these challenges. [It was] recorded using a variety of Moog synthesizers from Minimoog Voyager and Model D to Modular.”

Stark Sound Lab has been described as “creating New Age, minimalist and experimental sound designs that invoke impressionistic and expressionistic experiences. Each soundscape is crafted so what you hear becomes illusory, with some sounds appearing to be inches from you, several feet away or far in the distance, while others emanate from directions that are virtually inexplicable.”

The true effect of SSL is in the experience of listening to “New Day” firsthand. Luckily, the “New Day” EP from Stark Sound Lab is already available from its official website (link provided below) or from over 700 quality digital music stores online worldwide beginning 10 December 2016. Nobodies release LP album 'Nobodies'

The hip hop duo from Florida known as Nobodies have released their self-titled full-length record, “Nobodies.” The album contains nine original tracks for a total listening time of half an hour. It has been proudly published on the Blackhouse Records independent music label without the direction or support of the corporate music industry. Intelligent, iconoclastic, and aggressively shouting down the ills of modern society, “Nobodies” by Nobodies is a rap record fans of hip hop from every walk can get behind.

The official music video for the record's popular single, “Zero Tolerance/Inaction,” is here: An official video for its opening track, “Hermes Trismegistus,” has also been made available for listening and viewing online.

Asked to cite some main influences, Florida's Nobodies say their music is for “fans of Denzel Curry, Vince Staples, Awful Records, Miami, punk rock, trap, and hip hop.” Their sound is a mixture of contemporary dirty south and New York styles, with artistic principles drawn from social activism and subcultures such as the punk movement and late 19th-century occultism. The result is a smart, heavy-hitting collection of songs that recalls acts like Dead Prez and the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy.

Speaking of the themes of their new record, Nobodies write, “Nobodies are about bringing home the idea that we are all here to serve a greater purpose than to cycle through the mundane day-to-day tasks, and that we should all embrace our greatness. Music that pushes boundaries, in a sonic sense, as well as lyrically, and spreading the message to masses to do the same.”

Nobodies are a duo comprised of longtime pals MTFR (Matt the F'n Rapper) and Jah (usually stylized 'JAH'). They have distinguished themselves in rap circles by eschewing the shameless self-aggrandizing and ostentation practiced by many hip hop artists today, choosing instead to “be prolific and release nothing but precedent-setting, groundbreaking new material.”

Music videos by Nobodies have been directed by the recent underground favorite, FXRBES.

Blackhouse Records have described Nobodies saying, “This addition to the Blackhouse Records lineup is unlike anything we have ever taken on in 15 years of operation. In this partnership, the future will see not only an upcoming full length by NOBODIES, but also solo releases from MTFR and JAH separately. We couldn't be more elated to have these guys aboard and absolutely cannot wait to present to you what they have coming your way.”

Asked to cite some of his main artistic influences, Wilx writes: “A lot of Atlanta, Outkast to Future, Jay Z and a plethora of producers.” His own “Trap Nasty” is no mashup of existing music, however. “Trap Nasty” is trap music with a new spin and style which are unique to Wilx, himself.

“How did I get involved? Just loved the feeling certain songs evoked,” he writes. “After being a fan for so long, I decided to try my hand at it.”

Sin Leche releases new single 'El Baño'

The international rock artist known as Sin Leche has released his latest culture-crossing single, “El Baño.” The track has been proudly released on the American Values Latin independent record label without direction from the corporate music industry. It is the most prominent official release from Sin Leche since his 2015 track, “Cielo Azul.” Aggressive, grooving, and striking in its social conscientiousness, “El Baño” stands as the latest reason for rock fans to take note of this exciting Panamanian artist from New York.

As can be seen in the single's cover art, “El Baño” is a song about tolerance which has themes of gender equality at its heart.

Sin Leche says of this, “'El Baño' is about having tolerance and remembering that we can all experience things that seem far fetched. It's about being honest with ourselves and with others to avoid hurting the ones we love.”

Asked to describe his influences for “El Baño,” Sin Leche names only James Brown and AC/DC. While the heavy guitars in “El Baño” are more reminiscent of AC/DC than James Brown, there's plenty of rhythm in Leche's new single which denotes his deep love for the Godfather of Soul. This affinity runs so powerfully in Sin Leche, in fact, that when asked about his start in music, he states that it was at the age of 11 after attending a James Brown concert that he decided to start making his own.

Panama-born Sin Leche's current official bio describes him as also known as Septimus (usually stylized SEPTIMUS). Both Sin Leche and Septimus blend various musical genres and cultures to achieve a worldly, international sound which reflects Sin Leche's multicultural roots, himself.

Chrysta Bell & BellaSun release singles 'In My Life' and 'Swing Low, Sweet Chariot'

The chanteuse Chrysta Bell and BellaSun have released their dual singles, “In My Life” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.” Both prominently feature the work of Chrysta Bell's mother, Sunny Markham, and that of Austin producer and guitarist David Rosenblad. The tracks have been published on the Thirteenth Moon Studio independent record label. Sonorous, heartfelt and remarkably performed, “In My Life” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” by Chrysta Bell and BellaSun are singles any fan of great music can get behind.

Asked to give some artistic influences for “In My Life” and “Swing Low...,” they cite the Beatles, Goldfrapp, RadioHead, Kate Bush, Miles Davis, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Brian Eno among others. That the Beatles appear first makes sense, as “In My Life” was originally penned by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The rest of the short roster gives a clear view on the overall tone and feel for the production of both songs, which is subtly blue, yet uplifting in its unmistakable humanity.

The result is a chimera of feeling which manages to be full of joy and suggestive of sorrow at once, giving access to most of the emotional spectrum in just under seven minutes of music – a singular achievement in any art medium.

Chrysta Bell has been described as a “vocal enchantress, actress and lover of all things moody, sensual and sophisticated.” She is internationally noted for her music collabs with legendary filmmaker David Lynch. Chrysta Bell is expected to reach millions of new eyes and ears with her upcoming appearance in the new, anxiously awaited season of Lynch's “Twin Peaks.”

Sunny Markham, Chrysta Bell's mother, provides stunning vocal accompaniment on both tracks and proves herself a star in her own right by giving a tender, genuine performance reminiscent of the folk titan, Joan Baez.

David Rosenblad is a music producer, multi-instrumentalist and sound designer. His company is Sir Reel Sound and he spends most of his time when not on the road working out of his south-Austin studio, Thirteenth Moon. Rosenblad has worked and/or played with artists ranging from David Newman to Sara Hickman, from Cheap Trick to Bad Company, and a great many more.

“In My Life” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” by Chrysta Bell and BellaSun is available online worldwide at over 700 digital music stores now. Get in early, fans of great singers everywhere.

DJ Pad releases new album 'Let's Bounce'

The French producer of EDM known as DJ Pad has released his newest LP, “Let's Bounce.” This is (only) the latest in a long line of full-length releases from Pad stretching back to 2008, all of which have been published on his own 4000 Records independent music label. “Let's Bounce” is one of the giants in his repertoire, containing 30 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of more than two and one half hours. Danceable, energetic and colorful, yet having spacious moments of chillout and ambient, “Let's Bounce” is DJ Pad's offering of Melbourne-bounce songs for EDM lovers Down Under and up top.

France's DJ Pad has cited as main artistic influences artists from all over the stylistic spectrum. At different times these have included Afrojack, Sebastian, Swedish House Mafia, Infected Mushrooms, Psycraft, Hallucinogen, ATB, Cosmic Gate, Atomic Cat, Angerfist, Hanz Zimmer, Mike Oldfield and many more. However, when asked to mention inspirations for his “Let's Bounce” LP, Pad remarks, “This album is Melbourne Bounce and Big Room oriented, so it's difficult to cite just a few because my inspiration came from mixes on Mixcloud and YouTube.”

It is incorrect to say the entire “Let's Bounce” album is Melbourne-style, though, when in fact it is much more.

“This album contains four genres of music,” writes DJ Pad: “Melbourne bounce (one of my favorite styles of electro), big room / electro house, progressive house, and electronica. But the first two take most of the space on this very big album simply because I have so much fun producing them.”

Many of these Pad songs are uncommon additions to his enormous collection of original music – more than 700 songs and constantly growing. Tracks such as “Johnny's Guitar” and “Funk Me” will turn heads of both new listeners and longtime DJ Pad fans.

He comments on this, “Another point to stress is that in almost all tracks there are some orchestral instruments (more or less epic). It's my manner to evacuate my frustration of not really being able to produce full symphonic tracks.”

“Let's Bounce” from DJ Pad is available from hundreds of quality digital music stores online worldwide beginning 14 November 2016. Get in early, EDM fans.

Grooving with the original reggae and roots sound and produced with public radio and global sensations in mind, “Trumuzic” and “Luv 4 U” are evidence that Diana Thompson is a true voice of the island tone today.

Diana Thompson / DD Rose cites as main artistic influences Tarrus Riley, Marcia Griffiths, Tessanne Chin, Queen Ifrica, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston. DD Rose's own sound takes elements from the roots and reggae traditions and adds to this her own, updated style which will appeal to fans of pop music, reggae and dancehall alike. This sound is warm, welcoming, and elegant, making for uplifting, toe-tapping music anyone can lose themselves in.

Speaking of the themes of her music, Mind Music Productions writes that, “DD Rose really wants her fans to get the true feelings found in every musical note and word she sings. She has performed at such popular Jamaican venues and events as the Ocean Palms Night Club in St Thomas, the Independent show in Long Bay, Portland, the Rebel Salute 2012, the Reggae Show at Emancipation Park 2012, Charity at Hectors River for Survivors/Victims of Fire, the Red Bones Club, the Allshmar Jerk Center, Portland Jerk Festival Show in 2013, Rebel Salute 2016, Hotel Round Hill, and a great many more.

I will always keep you in my heart and prayers... I will remain committed to you all in making feel-good music. Most important, in all of your life endeavors, put God first and remember to show love to all of God's children. One Love – DD Rose.”

Sitar player Paul Best releases new album 'Sounds of Adventure'

The sitarist and producer of world music and kirtan known as Paul Best has released his latest LP record, “Sounds of Adventure.” Like the rest of his most recent repertoire, the album has been proudly published on the Yatte Yattah Beat independent music label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Kaleidoscopic, highly imaginative, and elegantly blending sounds from east and west with invention and aplomb, “Sounds of Adventure” is both aptly named and perfect for the modern era.

Australia's Paul Best has cited as main artistic influences Cream, Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, John Lennon, the Cure, the Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Tina Turner and the kirtan genre. His own “Sounds of Adventure” is no less diverse a record than this varied roster, being a cross between electronica and traditional sitar music – a tone nearly impossible to imagine but one which is surprisingly intuitive and pleasant from start to finish. Fans of kirtan and of electronica both will be well pleased with Best's new LP.

Paul Best is an autodidact of the rarest caliber. Having purchased his first sitar four decades ago on the banks of the Ganges, Hinduism's most sacred river, Best taught himself to play and immediately began fashioning his own tone, style, and manner of songwriting. His first album, “Still Waiting,” appeared in 1997. Since then he has amassed eight solo albums and been featured in numerous collaborations.

“Sounds of Adventure” contains nine original tracks for an approximate total listening time of a full hour. While based on Best's inimitable sitar playing, it also features the artist playing sitar with a bow, on keyboards, and even a vocal track about the harms and dangers of the gas fracking industry.

“Sounds of Adventure” by Paul Best is available online worldwide at over 700 excellent digital music stores now. Fans of world music, music for yoga, electronica and fusion in general should get in early.

Pop singer Barking Fire releases new single 'High Heels On'

The pop singer and fashionista known as Barking Fire has released her latest flagship single, “High Heels On.” The track has been proudly published as an independent single without the direction of the corporate music industry. Booming with bass, decked with sonic details, and graced with the clarion vocals of Barking Fire, herself, “High Heels On” is one of the most creative and cutting-edge dance tracks to appear in 2016 so far.

“High Heels On” is a thumping, pulsing, deep house track well-suited to the 21st century, thrumming with the verve and energy of the youth of today. Its beat is a perfect match to nearly any DJ play list at popular venues stretching from Los Angeles, Calif. to Ibiza, Spain, from Milan, Italy to Istanbul, Turkey, and beyond. “High Heels On” by Barking Fire is already turning heads around the music-listening world, and especially in locales where lovers of dance rule the night.

An excellent sign of the momentum of Barking Fire's “High Heels On” is the concurrent release of a sister single by DJ Birkan Basar, “High Heels On (DJ Birkan Basar Remix).” While the original track is most-often billed as a pop single, Basar's version can be found under the categories of techno and electronica, and listed on Beatport at 128 beats per minute.

Barking Fire is also notable for her outrageous, highly inventive and superlatively creative stage presence, marked by postmodern fashion designs which would be reminiscent of Lady Gaga's kaleidoscopic wardrobe if Barking Fire's own accoutrements were not unique in their own distinct way. These outfits may be viewed on the covers of “High Heels On” and “High Heels On (DJ Birkan Basar Remix)” as well as in photos taken of Barking Fire at the Grammy Music Awards Nominee Party at the world-famous Whisky a Go-Go on Hollywood's Sunset Strip.

“High Heels On” by Barking Fire was written by Sjoerd de Vries and Patricia Adams, produced by Sjoerd de Vries, engineered by Steven Felix, and mastered by Rob Burrell. It was recorded at Paramount Recording Studios in Hollywood, Calif.

“High Heels On” by Barking Fire and “High Heels On (DJ Birkan Basar Remix)” are available online at over 700 quality digital music outlets worldwide now.

Singer-songwriter Elizabeth Cuite releases new EP 'With You'

The rocker known as Elizabeth Cuite has released her new EP record album, “With You.” The record has been proudly published as an independent release without the direction of the corporate music industry. Free, fun, powerful and full of pop magic, “With You” is evidence that Elizabeth Cuite and her band of young artists are musicians to watch in 2016 and beyond.

“With You” is a rock record in the truest vein. It is direct, jamming, and danceable sing-along music which will appeal to fans of musicians such as Sheryl Crow, Fleetwood Mac, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Regina Spektor, and Whitney Duncan. It's friendly, warm rock music that stretches its arms to the listener and invites music fans to come in and hang out a while. But that doesn't mean it doesn't have an edge. The record's opening track, “I Like the Sound of That” has a grungy production and a one-two groove which hits the ground running and carries the audience away.

From Elizabeth Cuite's constantly growing repertoire, “With You” also includes such popular songs as “Too Bad” and the title track, “With You.”

Joining New York's Cuite on the “With You” EP are 16-year-old Ben Patsalos (drums) and 15-year-old Aidan Cuite (violin/piano/sax/bass), her brother. Ben began drumming at seven on congas and bongos. Having been playing since 11, he is entirely self-taught. He loves rap music but most enjoys playing percussion to funk and hip hop. Aidan began in music on violin. A player of classical and contemporary music, he is an award-winning violinist. He cites as inspirations players and songwriters from nearly every era and genre.

At 12 years old, Elizabeth Cuite is the youngest of the band, its guitarist, front-person, and sole songwriter. She has been singing longer than she can remember. She began playing on ukulele at six because full-sized guitars were too difficult for her hands. She has always sung while playing. She has been writing songs since the age of nine. She has been quoted as saying, “When singers tell a story, those are the best songs.”

“With You” by Elizabeth Cuite and company is available at over 700 quality music stores online worldwide now.

The singer and songwriter known as Zuri has released her latest contemporary music single, “Joy (Send Them Prayers).” The sonic message of goodwill has been proudly published on the Ayaba Records independent music label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Heartfelt, sonorous, and beautiful in both tone and intent, “Joy” showcases Zuri as a born entertainer and true humanitarian.

Chicago's Zuri has cited as main artistic influences a broad array of legends, including Sarah Vaughn, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Rachelle Ferrell, R. Kelly, and Celine Dion. Her own music shows a songwriting intuition similar to Stevie Wonder's, a clarion singing voice like Celine Dion's, and a natural studio production style akin to that of Sarah Vaughn's.

Zuri is a genuine artist in her own right, having been singing and practicing music since the age of three. All her music is written by Zuri, herself. The themes of her songs are clearly very important to her, and “Joy (Send Them Prayers)” is a strong example of this.

Zuri writes of her new track, “My desire is that listeners feel the lyrics and that the message inspires them to reach out to those who may not feel the joy others may feel during Christmas season due to various situations in these turbulent times.”

An official music video for “Joy” is also expected to appear online in coming weeks.

“The lyrics will tell the story,” writes Zuri. “The upcoming video will paint the picture.”

A well-rounded artist, Zuri has worked in music, television, commercials, and stage plays. She is also a writer, having penned poetry, spoken word, a novel, a screenplay and a series of short children's stories. Zuri has worked for and with various artists including Michael Bolton, Chaka Khan, Brenton Wood, Vesta, Shirley Caesar (Lou Rawls Telethon), Brenda Holloway, Ramsey Lewis, DJ Rogers, Etta James, Solomon Burke, Mable John and Jennifer Holiday, as well as others. She has also worked alongside musicians from Jamaica, Africa, and Haiti. She has written songs for veterans of soul such as Johnnie Taylor, Shirley Brown, Lattimore, and King Floyd.

Zuri sang all background harmonies on the classic soul record, “Soul Heaven,” by Johnnie Taylor, and wrote “Too close for comfort” for his Grammy-nominated album, “Gotta get the groove back.” She shared a No. 1 duet on southern-soul charts with Taylor's son, Floyd Taylor, “Baby I've Changed.” She has opened for Bon Jovi, Jermaine Jackson, Howard Hewett, and Kevin Nash, among others.

Catherine Goldwyn and Phil Lewis release jazz album 'Shadow and Light'

The jazz duo of Catherine Goldwyn and Phil Lewis have released their latest LP record, “Shadow and Light.” The album contains 11 tracks for an approximate total listening time of one hour. It has been proudly published on the Continuum independent music label without direction from the corporate music industry. Sharp, classy, and showcasing the sonic imagination of two of the most veteran players in contemporary jazz, “Shadow and Light” stands as one of the best examples of piano and guitar pairings in recent memory.

Catherine Goldwyn and Phil Lewis have been playing together since 2002 when they met at a Los Angeles jam session. They cite as main artistic influences legends like Louis Armstrong, and the genres of world music and classical music. The Armstrong shows in their use of phrasing, the classical in their use of melodic narration.

“Our goal is to create jazz that tells a story,” they write. “We want to take the listener on a journey.”

Goldwyn and Lewis both have decades of experience in jazz, but “Shadow and Light” is their debut LP together. After 11 years of music together, they married in 2013. They want their first album to be more than business-as-usual jazz for jazz aficionados.

“We really wanted this music to resonate with a wide range of listeners, not just a jazz audience,” they write, “so we chose to put our focus on strong melodies. What's really important in music is emotion. That's the currency of music. And we both felt that jazz has, in many cases, come to be defined too much by technical theories and virtuosic spectacle. We wanted to bring the direct, emotive element back to the music.”

This reactive, pliable feeling is palpable on “Shadow and Light.” Audiophiles who can't get into by-the-numbers jazz and don't think highly of anything but improv and hotseat sessions will find plenty to enjoy on Goldwyn and Lewis' debut LP. Their current official bio remarks that, “Although the duo spent a year composing and refining new material, it was important that the recording not lose the spontaneity of the jazz idiom.”

Goldwyn writes, “Plan to improvise – that's my credo in music and in life. So we leave lots of room for improvisation. In fact we can't ever seem to play a tune the same way twice.”

In addition to the considerable talents of Goldwyn and Lewis on “Shadow and Light” are drummer Jake Reed, bassist John Belzaguy, and percussionist Pete Korpela.

Session vibraphonist Gary Burton writes of the album, “[T]he guitar and piano weave together, evenly matched, always complementary. I’m reminded of how longtime friends complete each other's sentences.”

“This record is our 'love child,'” writes Lewis. “The opportunity to record with Catherine was like a
dream come true for me. She is not only one of the best composers I know but she is the love of my life, my muse, my inspiration.”

“Shadow and Light” by Catherine Goldwyn and Phil Lewis is available at over 700 online music outlets worldwide now.

Joseph Freije releases new LP record 'If Light Had Emotions'

The composer of fusion music known as Joseph P. Freije has released his sixth LP album for 2016, “If Light Had Emotions.” The record contains 12 original Freije electronica tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. It has been published by Phrygian Music, as have all the Joseph Freije albums available today. At once a mixture of postmodern jazz and experimental electronica music, “If Light Had Emotions” is more than just another reason to become acquainted with the work of Joseph P. Freije – it's an example of what the indie music movement can do for music lovers everywhere right now.

Joseph P. Freije has become known in music circles for composing in an array of popular genres. To date, he has written, performed and produced records in the alternative rock, electronic dance, and postmodern jazz arenas, with other categories thrown in for good measure. As a result, Freije's music is more fusion than anything else, with “If Light Had Emotions” being a collection of contemporary electronic jazz fusion songs.

“This album has four dance tunes,” writes Freije, “two chillers, three electronica, two psychedelic, two groovy trance dance, one piece I call jazz, and one for-sure experimental. There is one piece that fits four of the categories listed. I like it all.”

Even so, there's one thing he doesn't like about the album.

“The album is too short. Twelve songs total.”

“If Light Had Emotions” is one of his most accessible records, having warm tones and mellow grooves, as well as the searching, exploring creativity his fans have come to expect from him. Many of the tracks on “If Light...” would work well in a nightclub playlist, while others sound fitting for film and video game soundtracks, and still others reflect the experimental side of Freije which most interest audiophiles and fans of music theory. In short, there's something for nearly everyone.

Asked to describe the message of his new album, Joseph Freije writes, “Music makes the world go 'round. All the new sounds are tied to the old sounds and the yet-to-be-heard sounds. Our highest high and our deepest low are only boundaries between frequencies in our audible range. Sometimes the weave of the vibrations creates a haze that blurs the message in the sound.”

To feel the vibrations of strings plucked thousands of years ago and hear the echoes of songs which won't be sung for millennia to come, enter the head space of Joseph P. Freije and enjoy the cosmic ride.

“If Light Had Emotions” by Joseph P. Freije is available online worldwide at over 700 music stores now. Don't miss the rest of Phrygian Music's catalog, also available anywhere great music is digitally sold.

Hip hop artist BK releases new single 'No Pain'

The hip hop performer known as BK has released his latest official single, “No Pain.” The track has been proudly published on the Paystyle Records Inc. independent music label, entirely outside the control of the corporate music industry. Punchy, catchy, aggressive and inspiring, “No Pain” is the latest reason for music fans to sit up and take notice of this forward-thinking rapper and hip hop producer, BK.

BK cites as main artistic influences Jada Kiss, Young Jeezy, Tupac Shakur, Drake, and Proof. His own sound shares elements of each of these but has its own individual flavor which sets him apart from many other up-and-coming hip hop artists of today. Part of the unique draw of “No Pain” in particular comes from the stand-and-deliver philosophy that is its primary theme.

“Anything is possible,” writes BK of this. “If you fall down, get back up to fight another day – and never give up on your dreams.”

That one of the chief strengths of “No Pain” is in its lyrics should come as no surprise to BK's fans. The rapper's first successes in the music field were as a ghostwriter for his sister's successful music crew, who shared the stage with names such as Rah Digga, Redman, Method Man, Trina and Jay Z. Now BK is not only writing and performing for himself, but also heads the same Paystyle Records label on which “No Pain...” is being released.

Since then, Paystyle has dropped two nationally distributed mixtapes and secured an audio licensing and publishing deal with MTV.

“Sure the accomplishments make it worthwhile,” writes BK, humbly. “But perhaps even more importantly than all of that, it’s you, the listener, who makes all of it matter.”

BK's current official bio closes saying that he “looks forward to many more (sometimes hard, sometimes ugly, but always worthwhile) experiences along his musical journey. Here’s to hoping that you are part of that journey.”

“Thanks for being a listener and making it all matter,” BK says.

“No Pain” by BK is available for purchase and download now from the official Paystyle website (link provided below).
