Stefan Goreé releases new single 'To Live and Survive on 7 Mile'

The rapper and producer of hip hop known as Stefan Goreé has released his latest official single, “To Live and Survive on 7 Mile.” The track has been made available in both explicit and radio-friendly formats. It has been proudly published on the Nationwide Power Entertainment independent record label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Dark, genuine, and packed with intensity, “To Live and Survive on 7 Mile” is a hardcore rap track with true gangsta heart.

Detroit's Stefan Goreé cites as main artistic influences Royce da 5'9", Eminem, Big L, Ugly God, Rocaine, Sada Baby, Kendrick Lamar, Danny Brown, Big Sean, and Rick Ross, among others. His own style and sound are unique, however, even if some of his topics are familiar. No one who hears his “To Live and Survive on 7 Mile” is likely to insist they've heard something like it before.

“I want to show people that, yes, it is violence inside of Detroit,” writes Goreé, “and I have lived through some terrible times, but I want to do it in a different way. I may talk about the same subjects but I always try my best to find different ways to talk about them.”

Stefan Goreé would have had to, he's been making hip hop for so long. In fact, his music roots go all the way back to grade school.

“I used to get in trouble a lot in school,” he writes. “My mom told me to start putting my energy in something else, so I started off by making beats, originally back when I was 11.”

His beats are heavy and work to showcase the grit of his lines and rhymes. The themes of “To Live and Survive on 7 Mile” are more autobiographical than they are about a thug narrative.

Asked to describe the overall message of his new single, Goreé says, “I am hoping that my music can show people the story of my life, what I go through. I want them to know.”

“To Live and Survive on 7 Mile” by Stefan Goreé is available from over 600 quality music stores online worldwide now.

Rap artist Oblivion drops new twin singles release 'Fame and Struggles'

The rapper and producer of hip hop known as Oblivion has released his new single and B-side track collectively titled, “Fame and Struggles.” The tracks themselves are “Jump Rope” and “So Gone.” Both have been proudly published on the So Many Visions (S.M.V.) Promotions Records independent record label without the direction of the corporate music industry. True, gritty, and showcasing Oblivion's knack for making something new and unique from the mainstream hip-hop sound, “Fame and Struggles” stands as evidence that Oblivion has come into his own.

Selma, Alabama's Oblivion cites as main artistic influences Lil' Wayne, Drake, and Gucci Mane. Oblivion's own sound minimizes melody lines and utilizes plenty of space between beats, allowing his vocal phrases and lyric poetry to retain the spotlight. The result is an uncluttered style of hip hop which will attract fans of rap who appreciate wordplay over massive productions involving countless effects and tons of autotune. In other words, “Fame and Struggles” is a straight-up rap record.

Asked to describe the overall theme of his new album, Oblivion writes that it's about: “Life issues, how society sees you (stereotyping), relationships, women, flexing, turning up, making money, buying cars, houses, and jewelry.”

Oblivion is a 23-year-old man born and raised in Alabama, the third of four siblings. He has been crafting rap songs since the second grade. His older brother encouraged his music talent by promising to put him on a track if he kept up the good work. Informing his rap lyrics were difficulties at school including violence and trouble with authority figures.

“One day I decided to put all these bad experiences into my lyrics,” writes Oblivion, “to help me stay focused on the positive, not the negative things around me.”

The negative heaped on him regardless, though, with the unexpected passing of his beloved grandmother. Again, he turned to his music, but life wasn't through challenging him.

“Then my older brother passed away unexpectedly as well,” Oblivion says. “With all this going on in such a short time, I woke up one day and said, 'tomorrow is not promised to you so I need to do what needs to be done to make it happen.' I have put a lot of hard work into my music so I can make my grandmother, my brother, and my family proud.”

The upshot of this is “Fame and Struggles,” Oblivion's spearhead achievement. He makes it clear that these two singles will be the start of something much bigger.

“This is not just a dream for me,” says Oblivion. “I am going to make this a reality because my parents made so many sacrifices for their children to succeed in life, so failure is not an option. I am all-in, and I have my family behind me to make it happen.”

“Fame and Struggles” by Oblivion is available from S.M.V. Records at over 700 quality digital music retailers online worldwide now.

Hesohi releases fifth LP album 'Conversation'

The digital music artist known as Hesohi has released his fifth studio album, “Conversation.” The record contains six original Hesohi tracks and a bonus single for a total of an hour and fifteen minutes of listening. Five of these are available only with the entire record while tracks Two and Seven may be purchased as singles. The album has been proudly published on the LovethangBoomin'System independent record label without the involvement of the corporate music industry. An eclectic, post-modern take on trip-hop blended with ambient and classical composition methods, “Conversation” proves that Hesohi is an artist for the new millennium.

Hesohi cites as main artistic influences Art of Noise, Cinematic Orchestra, Towa Tei, Avalanches, Todd Rundgren, Kraftwerk, the Late Night Tales Series, and All Good Funk Alliance. But he's not alone on “Conversation.” Joining Hesohi in the studio for his fifth full-length album are Douglas T. Martin, Derek Sibert, and Steve Fernandez.

Hesohi himself describes his new record as “downtempo,” but admits that “The first term that comes to mind is trip hop.”

“This music doesn’t contain the obligatory sample-based sounds that usually accompany the beats in this genre,” writes Hesohi. “The sound is synth-oriented, with live guitar and bass performances that sound like conversations between the instruments.”

This principle comes from classical music, where it is known as call-and-response, or antiphony. Also similar to classical composition forms is Hesohi's carrying of themes throughout tracks 10 and even 20 minutes long, as well as across the entire record – or as the artist himself puts it: “The idea of the 'track' is expanded and transformed into the idea of the 'composition,' in the way that one might paint a picture onto a large canvas and later paint a mural onto a wall.”

“Conversation” is digital music for the connoisseur of sounds. To steal a phrase from one of Hesohi's cited inspirations, Towa Tei, it is a sound museum.

Hesohi's label, LovethangBoomin'System, says of the record that “There is a feel of a producer exploring the sensibility of techno at a much slower pace, and without the constraint of fitting the end result into kind some kind of format. The songs take their time to get where they are going. The attention to detail provides dynamics that move the listener through the arrangement effortlessly. The time passes in a comfortable manner. The mix is lush but unquiet with a good amount of animation.”

Speaking to his fans, friends and cohorts, Hesohi writes:

“Thanks to the people who have introduced me to so many beautiful songs. I am forever on a quest to listen and learn about the world and it's inhabitants through culture and express myself with music. Thanks to the artists who inspire and energize my spirit. Thanks for the Family love and support. I appreciate very much the people of this planet. Partypeople, hold tight. We are gonna make it. Everything is gonna be alright. Stay positive. Spread love. Be kind to yourself.”

Irish R&B singer Sarah O Gorman releases debut EP 'Concrete Rain'

The singer and songwriter of rhythm-and-blues known as Sarah O Gorman has released her debut EP album, “Concrete Rain.” The record contains four original tracks for a listening time of 17 minutes. It has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. Blending elements of soul, R-'n'-B, and even folk music, “Concrete Rain” signals that Sarah O Gorman has plenty of evocative music to share with the world.

Carlow, Ireland's Sarah O Gorman cites as main artistic influences Tracy Chapman, Van Morrison, Nina Simone, Curtis Mayfield, and Joan Armatrading. Music fans will quickly note common threads running through this selection of legends, and as might be surmised, many of these threads lead to O Gorman, herself, and to her new record.

“It feels on a few levels like coming home,” says O Gorman of her debut album. “But that's the story of all human adventure, isn't it?”

This idea of a circuitous journey seems to lie at the heart of “Concrete Rain,” and appropriately also in the artistic process of its creator.

“Making 'Concrete Rain' happened very naturally,” O Gorman says. “I'd written the songs and had been playing them with a loop machine. Then, during a visit home, by happy accident David [Ayers, producer] and I arranged to go in the studio, initially for one day – which quickly turned into a week. I thought, wow, this is really beautiful. We found a flow.”

Sarah O Gorman's current official bio concludes with the statement, “Everything about how we made this EP reflects what I find beautiful in songwriting: the seeming anarchy but perfect fluency of the process.”

The story of human adventure, coming home, loops, perfect fluency – these themes describe the experience of hearing “Concrete Rain” very well, the title of which is also a circular kind of paradox. Sarah O Gorman's songs, studio performances and actual personality coalesce in a way that endears the listener to her as if a relationship were actually being formed. And why not?

Asked to describe the intended themes of her debut EP, O Gorman writes, “You are most beautiful, most real and vital when you stand on / come from your soul ground.”

Art like “Concrete Rain” is one of few ways to stand on and come from one's soul ground at the same time.

“Concrete Rain” by Sarah O Gorman and produced by Red Snapper founding member David Ayers is available beginning 11 June 2017 from over 700 quality digital music stores online worldwide. Get in early, soul fans. Very early.

Jazz-fusion artist Person Natalie releases LP 'Gypsy Dance'

The eclectic saxophonist and composer known as Person Natalie has released her latest full-length album, “Gypsy Dance.” The record contains eight original tracks for about 40 minutes of listening. It has been proudly published on the Person Natalie independent record label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Blending elements of jazz, country, R 'n' B and even world music, “Gypsy Dance” may be one of the most stylistically inclusive jazz-fusion records ever recorded.

For her 2014 EP record, Person Natalie listed such artistic influences as Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Merle Haggard and Motown. For this new, flagship LP release, however, she cites only one: Miles Davis. This is both telling and appropriate of her album, considering the titanic bridges both records build between seemingly disparate music categories.

“This album is intended to be a cross-genre delight,” writes Person Natalie of her record. “It's definitely about enjoying the journey and the positive escape of music, and just letting it develop naturally.”

In addition to the considerable skills of Person Natalie, herself, “Gypsy Dance” also features the talents of players Kye Palmer, Aisha Ewell, and Ron Sanchez. It is her second self-produced album.

“It’s exciting to work with others and I feel very privileged and grateful, especially to David Lewis Luong [producer of her “Dreamy Lullaby” and “Deep as Ocean” releases],” she says. The decision to self-produce her “Gypsy Dance” LP with the aid of her father, a bassist, is a matter of creative expression.

“It feel it's most rewarding to produce on your own (though not easy)” writes Natalie, “when the party you’ve got going on in your head comes to life and translates onto a recording exactly how you intended it – and beyond, really.”

The intuitive sax performer has called “Gypsy Dance” her best studio work to date, but is also quick to reassure, “Oh, I have more up my sleeve,” hinting that her future projects may delve even further into realms outside jazz.

“I have a deep enjoyment of and respect for jazz and those that can play it, as the requirements are very
challenging and keep you thinking,” says Person Natalie, “but I feel more at home and down-to-earth, more relatable, with rock, country and R 'n' B.”

“Gypsy Dance” by Person Natalie becomes available online worldwide 9 June 2017. Get in early, jazz fans. Don't miss her official music video at her official website, link provided below.

Electro-goth musician Viii releases singles “Witchlust” and “Rev 22:20”

The music artist of gothic electronica known as Viii has released his second pair of singles for 2017, titled, “Witchlust / Rev 22:20.” The tracks have been proudly published on the Voodoo Creation Records independent music label, along with the rest of the Viii catalog. Bringing the dark, suave sound fans of Viii have come to expect in spades, “Witchlust / Rev 22:20” is the latest reason fans of goth and electronica have to sit up and take notice of this shadowy studio project in 2017.

Viii (pronounced 'Vee') cites as main artistic influences Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle) Crosses, Banks, Nine Inch Nails, Portishead, Massive Attack, and Prince. In fact, the single's B-side, “Rev 22:20,” is a cover tune of an original track by Puscifer, headed by the legendary Maynard Keenan. This is the second such arrangment for Viii, whose recent “Lovedecay” single came bundled with a B-side cover of “Lovesong” by the Cure.

Asked to describe the themes of his latest single, “Witchlust,” Viii writes, “Witchlust is a song where the protagonist is seduced and manipulated by a girl, going against his morals and becoming a person he hates. After falling and committing to the relationship completely, he is then discarded and left unable to fully connect with future romantic partners – becoming as cold and heartless as the girl that transformed him was.”

The Puscifer cover, “Rev 22:20” makes an erotic play on the prominent Bible verse which begins, “I am coming quickly.” It moves from here to describe a sexual obsession with a beautiful woman who is damaging to the narrator, who implores the listener to refrain from falling under her spell. In this way, the track braids seamlessly with the situation described in “Witchlust.”
