JLoyal releases new EP 'Trappin' in My Didas'

The songwriter, music producer and performer of hip hop known as JLoyal has released his latest EP record, “Trappin' in My Didas.” The EP is composed of three original tracks and a second mix of the album's title track, “Trappin' in My Didas,” edited specifically for play on public radio stations around the world. It has an approximate total listening time of 15 minutes, and has been proudly published on the RoadRunnaRecords independent music label entirely without support from the corporate music industry. Raw, rough, and packed with the legitimate, unmistakable style of rap and hip hop from the American south, “Trappin' in My Didas” by JLoyal is a surprise powerhouse coming late in the summer of 2014.

The various tracks included on JLoyal's new EP, “Trappin' in My Didas,” “Gas,” and “Wake Up,” show different facets of the artist's creativity and vocal delivery, as well as showcasing a range of talents on the studio production side of RoadRunnaRecords. The wide spread of skills offered in this single EP record hint that much more material from RRR is forthcoming. The label, which was founded 1 March 2014, speaks in few words on its official Soundcloud and Facebook pages.

“RoadRunnaRecords is an independent music label in Augusta, GA,” they write. “We take pride in our craft and only put out professional quality music.”

Their first artist and writer/performer of “Trappin' in My Didas,” JLoyal, began in music at 14 inside the closet of an apartment. He writes that his main artistic influences are “Wit, pure dedication, drive, hunger, humility, and a love for music and success... I kept at it, improving my craft.”

His journey as a musician hasn't been easy, but it seems the artist and the label have finally arrived.

“Trappin' in My Didas” by JLoyal is available online worldwide beginning 29 August 2014.

Street Addiction Muzik Group releases new LP 'U.S.A. (Undeniable Street Addiction)'

The performers of hip hop known as the Street Addiction Muzik Group have released their latest LP record, “U.S.A.,” which acronym stands for “Undeniable Street Addiction.” The long-playing album comprises 18 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of an hour and 15 minutes. This superlative length brings Street Addiction's new record closer to the average length of a double LP than to that of a typical long-playing album, which usually clocks in at 40-42 minutes. As might be inferred by the name of the artist, “U.S.A.” has been published on the Street Addiction Muzik Group independent record label. Aggressive, straight-up, and directly from the urban poets of America's inner cities, “U.S.A.” is a milestone of hip-hop music for the new millennium.

Street Addiction Muzik Group's “U.S.A.” record is a particularly momentous achievement for the rising rap label, which opened its doors in 2013 with such immediate successes as “REM” by the Young Moors, “Party x Bull---t” by Yum Pow, and “No Cut: the Red and Blue Tapes” by Hye Def. As a new show of cultural force, however, their new “U.S.A.” album features no fewer – and in fact more than – 15 individual hip-hop groups publishing music on the Street Addiction name.

SAMG writes of this: “'U.S.A.' is a music compilation featuring many artists under the S.A. Muzik Group umbrella. Each artist has their own message. Each artist has their own style and content. This is what makes the project unique. The bar of quality and lyricism has been set. Each artist has set out to raise the bar. Each song will give you a different feel. This album is like a movie. It will play to your every emotion.”

Speaking of how the label came to be and what brought its various artists to music in general, they write: “We come from different backgrounds, but music is our savior. Growing up, music was the light that guided us through the darkness. It kept us level when things appeared shaky. This is true to this day. We've come together through a common love and passion for the hip-hop culture. Our goal is to preserve the music while contributing to and advancing it.”

The idea that the hip hop genre is sorely in need of help is not unique to Street Addiction, but the label's genuine concern and determination to uphold and elevate the American-founded, urban music style is clear – and they have a plan of action.

“We're from an era when songs weren't written for radio,” they explain. “Songs were written from the soul. Today, everything on the radio sounds the same. There's no variety. This compilation is anti-radio. It exhibits an array of styles. It's from the heart. This is real hip-hop.”

“U.S.A. - Undeniable Street Addiction” from Street Addiction Muzik Group is available online worldwide beginning 29 August 2014.

Wirewalker releases new EP 'Jaw Wired Shut'

The rock and roll crew from Los Angeles known as Wirewalker have released their latest official EP, “Jaw Wired Shut.” The EP is composed of four original, previously unreleased tracks, “Shakedown,” “The Wise Child,” “Smithereens,” and the title track which opens the album, “Jaw Wired Shut.” Wirewalker's “Jaw Wired Shut” EP has been published on the independent Sanctum Records music label. Endlessly stylish, driving and with measured amounts of verve and aggression, “Jaw Wired Shut” is an album that proves these scions of the Los Angeles alt-rock scene are more than worth the price of admission.

Wirewalker cite as main artistic influences contemporary rock legends such as Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, and St. Vincent. Their sound blends the velvety, melodic groove of UK groups like Pulp and the Catherine Wheel with the more American, pop-infused style of the pre-2000 era of indie rockers such as Drive Like Jehu, Firehose and Pavement.

“Jaw Wired Shut” features stunningly effective keyboard accompaniment paired with subtly powerful bass lines, as well as guitar licks and vocal leads that ring out naturally, unpretentious and raw. Wirewalker's concrete-solid drums are both energetic and unassuming, the combination of which paints the entirety of the Wirewalker sound in vibrant, electrified tones and grows toward the foreground from track to track.

Speaking of the theme of their new EP, Wirewalker writes simply that “'Jaw Wired Shut' covers topics ranging from fear of the unknown to exploring human nature.”

Wirewalker's official bio describes them as having been “formed in 2012 as Ryan Pressman and Bobby Thayer's musical project. Later, Sean Holt joined the group, cementing the group's lineup. Since then, Wirewalker's sound has evolved into an eclectic mix of electronic, rock, hip hop, and jazz styles.”

Cookie Cartel releases debut single 'Free Dive'

The composers of digital music known as Cookie Cartel have released their official debut single, “Free Dive.” The single has been bundled with three remixes of the definitive edition, including an extended play version, an extended dance version, and a version edited for play on public radio stations around the world. The single features vocals by acclaimed singer Stef Lang, whose popular LP record, “The Underdog” appeared in May of 2010. An irrefutably infectious digital pop song with elements of chillout, dubstep and house music, “Free Dive” by Cookie Cartel is a single which highlights the many qualities of this undeniable duo based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Cookie Cartel cite as main artistic influences such heroes of the digital scene as Zedd, BT, ATB, and Disclosure. As might be expected, their own sound mirrors many of the best qualities of the artists on this list, yet their overall style has its basis in their own music histories.

Cookie Cartel is the stage name of Mary Ancheta and Dan Kearley, who write and produce songs under the name Cookie Cartel which feature various guest vocalists on their tracks. They have been collaborating since 2013, when they began sending sound files to and from one another between Vancouver and the Maldives at that time. They have said that their new single, “Free Dive,” was first inspired by a trip to the Maldive Islands.

Keyboardist and lyricist Mary Ancheta was first part of the popular and jazzy electronica group, Transientworld, who placed as finalists for two consecutive years in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition for electronic music. Ancheta has licensed over 50 film and television placements for her music.

Multi-instrumentalist Dan Kearly is best known for his role in Sekoya, the sound of which the Victoria Jazz Society describes as an “iconoclastic blend of jazz, house, soul, spoken word, hip-hop, and bebop with a fresh touch of funk!” The Society goes on to note that “Sekoya’s debut album garnered rave reviews from Miami to London, resulting in a Canadian Juno nomination for Best Contemporary Jazz Artist.” Kearley has composed beats for heavy metal bands Strapping Young Lad and Lamb of God, and has completed remixes for BT.

The remixes of “Free Dive” have been orchestrated by DJ Hoàng Anh (Vietnam Producer), DJ Hunt (Producer, DJ on Queen Latifah Show), and Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas (Producer, Mute Math Bassist).

The Ultra Violets release new EP 'All the Noise in Your Head'

The Connecticut rock quartet known as the Ultra Violets have released their latest EP record, “All the Noise in Your Head.” The EP is composed of six original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 23 minutes. It has been published as an independent release without support from the corporate music infrastructure. Stylish, raw, and refreshingly unique at a time when rock 'n' roll perhaps needs something new more than ever, “All the Noise in Your Head” is a fresh tone from the state which brought Rivers Cuomo, Keith Richards and John Mayer to global acclaim.

The Ultra Violets cite as main artistic influences only four sources of inspiration, the Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Muse, and the White Stripes. Their official Facebook page has the crew describing their music with the following tongue-in-cheek list of genres and subgenres: “rock, indie, psychedelic, space rock, folk, garage, ummm...”

Their bio page describes them as “a band out of northwest CT who play songs about space, love, monsters, and whatever else is buzzing around in their brains.”

Speaking of the lyrical themes and overall tone of their new EP, the Ultra Violets write, “Our album says that there are many colorful moods and circumstances that make up all of us, and that there is a fitting feeling, sound, or song for all of them. 'All the Noises in your Head' was an attempt to bring together many of the various types of songs that we produce as a band and perform live. So all in all, this is the big picture of what we are as a band right now, encompassed in just a few songs, a glimpse of things to come, when these noises continue to work themselves out into whatever we make next.”

The Ultra Violets have been playing together in various incarnations for a little more than two years.

“We formed a couple years ago,” they write, “and have had many adventures playing shows all over CT. We have a fan base extending outwards from our home base of Torrington, and are looking forward to sharing our music from this EP and beyond with a wider audience.”

Music fans around the world can be part of this wider audience beginning August 23, 2014, when “All the Noise in Your Head” by the Ultra Violets becomes available globally online.

Da 1-Handed Bandit releases single 'Dis Me'

The performer, producer, and songwriter of hip hop music from the southern United States known as Da 1-Handed Bandit has released a head-turning single, “Dis Me.” The track was published on 2 June 2014 on the Burn'Em Up Productions independent record label, entirely without support from the corporate music industry's infrastructure. Considered by many to be the definitive and earliest of the singles to emerge from Da 1-Handed Bandit in 2014, an official video of the single was released in an introductory format on the 24th of May and received accolades worldwide. The video was directed by Harold Lyle Films. Like Da 1-Handed Bandit, herself, “Dis Me” is an earth shaking, riveting rap track which seizes the listener and doesn't let go.

“Dis Me” has given fans and denizens of the hip-hop underground their the first glimpse of Da 1-Handed Bandit, whose more-recently released “I Ain't Callin Ya” single has officially declared the upcoming publication of her debut LP record. This new album is slated to be released on the Burn'Em Up Productions music label titled, “God's New Breed.”

Da 1-Handed Bandit was born and raised in Jackson, MI. Her official Facebook page states that the heavy-handed performer now hails from Atlanta, GA, making her music a legitimate part of the urban music movement of the American south. Her aggressive and direct style of vocal delivery puts her in a class all her own today, a time when many female icons in rap music such as Queen Latifah have long-since turned their backs on their powerful identities in favor of softer images. In contrast, Da 1-Handed Bandit is one of the most outspoken and explosive lyricists and rappers in the hip-hop scene, and – like her fans – she takes her music seriously.

“I am not an entertainer!” states her official Facebook page, clearly.

Farrell, Moran, Barnett release new single 'Cell Phone'

The trio of musicians known as Farrell, Moran, Barnett have released their new single, “Cell Phone.” The track is the most significant official single to be published and digitally distributed by the group under the Farrell, Moran, Barnett name, though each member clearly has a long history in music. The single has been proudly published on the FMB Records independent music label without support from the corporate music industry. Cool, groovy, and closely adhering to the classic rock and American pop traditions of songwriting, “Cell Phone” is a timely addition to the pop and adult contemporary music genres.

Farrell, Moran, Barnett cite as main artistic influences Simon and Garfunkle, Bob Dylan, and swiftly rising pop star, Ed Sheeran. Of these, Farrell, Moran, Barnett share most of the best qualities of Simon and Garfunkle and Bob Dylan, particularly in the area of songwriting. “Cell Phone” manages to be deceptively simple, pared down to its acoustic root and powerfully evocative at the same time. Vocals are tastefully unadorned and clearly earnest in their warm, raw delivery. Fittingly, all accompanying instrumentation is straightforward, solid, and unobtrusive, building on the effectiveness of the song without frills or gaudy playing.

At the heart of “Cell Phone”'s potency in terms of romantic tone are the song's theme and lyric content. Like the best of the singer-songwriters pop music has to offer, the track has a central idea and clearly describes it through an infectious chord progression and matching verses and choruses.

“It's time to say 'Good night' to our cell phones,” the chorus runs. “I just wanna be with you alone / There's nothin' that can't wait un-til tomorrow / there's romance in the air to-night.”

The song is relevant to romantics both young and old and makes a fine addition to any mellow music compilation. Music fans everywhere are likely to hope for more from Farrell, Moran, Barnett before too long.

Malazan releases new LP album 'Shango'

The composer of digital music known as Malazan has released his latest LP album, “Shango.” The LP comprises 18 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 75 minutes. This length makes “Shango” not only Malazan's most significant full-length record to date, but also his most significant double LP. It has been published on the up-and-coming independent music label, the Gods of Dance and War. Earthy, raw, and primal in its feel, tone, and warm grooves, “Shango” is a return to the savannas of Africa and the rainforests of Central America with Malazan as your dubstep guide.

Malazan, a DJ from Canada's Victoria in British Columbia, has purposefully made his record with the idea of bringing listeners back to their roots in mind. This concept of returning home seems (and sounds) to be both musical and cultural in nature.

“This is tribal dubstep,” writes Malazan on his official Soundcloud page. “Let me take you back to the jungle. Because humans are monkeys.”

While it's certain that tribal drum sounds resonate with every known group of people on Earth, and that this is partly what Malazan means by taking people back to the jungle, “Shango” is also somewhat of a return to jungle music, a smaller branch of early electronica from the 1990s which later came to be known as drum and bass.

Malazan explains, “The name Malazan comes from a book series, the Malazan Books of the Fallen, written by Steven Erikson. [For me,] Malazan is a metaphor for the roots of dubstep and the roots of humanity combined into one music journey. Dubstep comes from dub reggae and 2x4 garage, and what you hear today is far removed from the roots.”

Still, Malazan is no puritan calling out for a return to the traditions of old.

“It is not necessarily a bad thing. Because both [music styles] now exist simultaneously.”

Released to the public partially on his Soundcloud channel and officially around the world on 20 August 2014, “Shango” is already turning heads in the digital music underground.

DJ Umb of GenerationBass.com writes of “Shango,” “Haven’t posted much Dubstep in quite a while, but stumbled upon this and really enjoying it’s Tribal Dub elements. Listening to this is a bit like traversing through an amazonian jungle in Cinemasound, it’s hypnotic and visually stimulating! Great stuff man!”

Rapper WalKat releases eight singles on Think Tank Ent. LLC

The vocalist and songwriter of hip hop known as WalKat (often stylized WALKAT) has released eight single tracks on the Think Tank Entertainment LLC music label. The tracks, “Can't Cope,” “Boomboombap,” “Swaggup,” “Murdaman,” “Chinese Store,” “Cold Street Speech,” “Jason Mask,” and “Jewelry Game” have been published in the period spanning late 2013 to early summer 2014. This octet of singles represents the largest body of material to be officially released by WalKat since his most recent duo of LP albums.

These full-length records, “Da Now” and “Now On,” appeared on digital music shelves around the world in December of 2013, featuring a combined approximate listening time of over two hours across 36 original tracks. Both LPs were published on the Think Tank Ent. music label, formed in 1997. Being both part of the cutting edge and part of the old school, WalKat has returned with more of his distinctive, heavy-hitting hip-hop style and masterful urban poetry.

WalKat hails from north Philadelphia. His official MTV artist profile states that he began rapping in 1988. He cut his hip-hop teeth by freestyling verses to beats from Lady B on Philadelphia's W.H.A.T. AM radio (currently at 100.3 FM) which he recorded on cassette tapes at the age of 13. Since that time, WalKat has been an avid connoisseur of hip-hop music and an important personage of the urban underground, performing live onstage for over fifteen years. He has been known for loudly voicing his contempt for “the current state of hip hop,” and founded Think Tank Ent. in part to help raise the quality of rap and urban music everywhere. His songs have been labeled “new-school classics” by fans on the East Coast and West Coast of America alike.

WalKat has cited as main artistic influences such legendary performers as Public Enemy, Rakim, KRS-One, Gang Starr, Geto Boyz, Scarface, Compton's Most Wanted, Wu-Tang Clan, and the Juice Crew. His music is available in over 750 online music outlets worldwide, including iTunes, Amazon and more. His singles and albums can be found on Pandora, the Music Genome Project.

Jacopo Gianninoto releases new LP 'Herometic'

The composer and songwriter known as Jacopo Gianninoto has released his latest LP album, “Herometic.” The record comprises eight original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. A contemporary, experimental, highly imaginative classical record with a modern heart and an ancient soul, “Herometic” is an album no fan or student of international music should miss.

Jacopo Gianninoto cites as main artistic influences J.S. Bach, Monteverdi, Jordi Savall, Egberto Gismonti, Keith Jarrett, K. Stockhausen, John Cage, and Josquin Desprez. His compositions on “Herometic” are built on traditional underpinnings supported by familiar conceptual infrastructures, but gilt with wildly creative melodies which seem to spin naturally from his instruments without interference from the musician, himself. A live element to his recordings which make up “Herometic” is ever present, adding a jazz-like atmosphere not commonly found in the classical music genre.

Speaking of his start in music, Gianninoto writes, “The moment I started breathing, this is one thing I used to write: 'When we are born, all of us human beings, the first thing that we do is something that is usually misunderstood as crying, but in a real sense is singing... It is the sign that we are alive, the manifestation of our real nature. We are all musicians, we are all music, but just a few people keep on singing forever. So if they ask me when I started playing music, I always answer that I simply never stopped!”

Asked to describe the overall theme or message of “Herometic,” Gianninoto replies, “My music is part of my spiritual path, something that comes out of my deepest feelings and experiences. I think when someone listens to it they can experience their own things. My dream is that my music could be a sort of a mirror where each can find some little thing about themselves…but, well, it's just music that comes from me and from my heart.”

Like the rest of Gianninoto's music to date, “Herometic” focuses on the idea of creating 21st-Century music with ancient instruments, such as the lute and baroque guitar. He seeks to accomplish this with an improvisational spirit which connects to his renaissance and baroque musical studies. He often involves the works of visual artists, dancers, actors and writers for original collaborations developing like concepts from different artistic perspectives.

Jacopo Gianninoto's official bio describes him as a guitarist, lutenist and composer from Italy now based in Bangkok. He is the creator and director of several artistic multidisciplinary projects such as “Baroque Me Baby,” “Renaissance Redux,” “The Praise of Folly,” “Romance Is a Hoax,” “One/One Performance,” “The Giordano Bruno Project,” “Lux in Tenebris,” “Please Don't Entertain Me,” “Chiaroscuro,” his recent “Herometic,” and many more.

Sahe releases new rock EP 'Psycological Repair'

The rock crew based in Tampa Bay, FL known as Sahe (often stylized SAHE) have released their latest official EP, “Psycological Repair.” The EP is composed of five original hard-rock tracks for an approximate total listening time of 18 minutes. It is the sophomore record from Sahe, preceded only by a six-song EP recorded at Hitmaker Studios in 2013. Sporting the more aggressive and explosive elements of hard rock, alt- rock and heavy metal respectively, Sahe's “Psycological Repair” is an album all fans of hard rock music deserve to hear.

Sahe cite as main artistic influences such rock legends as the Queens of the Stone Age, AFI, AC/DC, Lamb of Gog, Deftones, and Led Zeppelin. Attributes of each can be easily noted in the five offerings on “Psycological Repair,” as well as shared characteristics with bands of the late 20th century like Metallica, D.R.I. and Pantera. Audiophiles with a penchant for any of these bands or the categories and subcategories thereof are likely to find something they're enthusiastic about in this latest EP by Florida's Sahe.

Speaking of the themes of their new record, Sahe write, “[Our new album is] one of aggression and storied point of views. The first track, 'Outcast' is about a bullied child who lashes out at his attackers. 'Judgement' is a song that goes a lot of places musically and is about a group decision regarding a fellow human who has been bitten by a zombie during the apocalypse. 'Apocalypse Now' is a song
about the end of days which starts off as a slow, heavy rock song and changes into a full-on, fast punk song. 'Wild Woman' is a fun song about a sexy woman and how she makes you feel. The EP's closer is 'Ed,' a song about the famous serial killer, Ed Gein, and his impulses. 'Ed' is most commonly played live as SAHE's signature closing song.”

Sahe was started in 2011 by brothers Pat Ehas (bass) and Nick Ehas (guitar/vocals). They were joined soon after by their close friend, (rhythm guitar) and Eric Rossmeisl (drums), after which time they have enjoyed an avid fan base and powerful momentum since. They have described their style as a mix of classic rock, punk, metal and blues.

The movie stars Lisa Livesay, Nolan Livesay and John Schimke. It features cinematography by John Heppe and is written, directed and produced by John Schimke. The film's background score, “Plan Perfect: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” by Julian Scherle is prominently showcased and acts as an active part of the movie's emotional draw.

Composer Julian Scherle was raised in Germany and is currently based in Los Angeles. He describes himself variously as a composer, DJ, music producer, and “all-around sound addict.” He has a degree in sound engineering and more than two decades of experience in piano, singing, jazz guitar, and saxophone. He has worked alongside and collaborated with such legendary modern composers as Klaus Badelt (“Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Time Machine,” “Constantine”), Stewart Copeland (the Police) and Mac Quayle (“Drive,” “Spring Breakers,” “Only God Forgives”).

Scherle's current professional bio closes with a quip from the artist which colors him as a sonic sharpshooter and avid fan of the Pacific Ocean: “If I am not in the studio, you can probably find me sneaking around with my recorder, hunting for new sounds, or in the water attempting to find the perfect wave to surf.”

Polly Baker's new single 'Leaving it Up to You' wins MondoTunes songwriting contest

The singer and songwriter known as Polly Baker has won second place in MondoTunes' Pop/Rock Songwriting Contest with her latest single, “Leaving it Up to You.” The online music distribution company's three judges selected Baker's single from hundreds of entrants in July of 2014. Participating judges included producer Warren Huart (The Fray, Korn, Matisyahu), Interscope A&R rep. James Mormile, and Pussycat Dolls lead vocalist Kaya Jones. “Leaving it Up to You” is the most recent official release from Baker since her November 2013 single, “Good at Goodbyes.”

Polly Baker has cited as main artistic influences Taylor Swift, Kate Voegele, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, and Maroon 5. Her sound is rooted in the country branch of pop music and blends the two genres without leaving an obvious line of demarcation between them. Her easy, natural singing style and traditional manner of songwriting make her accessible to listeners of both categories with room to spare for fans of rock and dance music.

Speaking of the themes of “Leaving it Up to You,” Baker writes, “Well, by now you all know that I write songs about boys. This latest single was written about this guy I had the biggest crush on, and he was vegan. And he didn't want to date me because I wasn't vegan and what-not. We were really good friends and our everyday talks would be like the chorus of the song: 'You like me, like me, but I'm still not really your type…' Honestly, when it comes down to it, I was set on becoming vegan to go out with him.”

Unsurprisingly, Baker's tenacious character and independent tone of voice, for which fans have come to admire her, win out in the end. She explains, “I think I ate a piece of cheese one day – my favorite cheese, actually – and, well, it didn't happen. Also, no disrespect to vegans/vegetarians/fruitarians everywhere is intended in this little story.”

Polly Baker is a pianist, singer and songwriter from northern Virginia currently living in Los Angeles. She has been singing since the age of four.

Sound Konstruction Ent. releases new LP 'Retribution'

The hip-hop music label known as Sound Konstruction Entertainment has published their latest compilation LP, “Retribution.” The record has proudly been released as an independent rap record without support from the corporate music infrastructure. Packed with the modern tones of the American urban underground, “Retribution” is composed of eight original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 35 minutes. It has been presented by the up-and-coming rap crew, B.M.B.

In addition to the skills of Sound Konstruction Ent.'s spearheading rap artist, Komplicated, “Retribution” also features the talents of B.M.B rappers et cetera such as Thee UnKnown, Marcus Royal, Emoji, and Lady T. The combined efforts of these masters of verse on “Retribution” result in a cavalcade of rhymes and lines which have a total tonnage that can only be measured on the Richter scale.

Speaking of the themes on “Retribution,” B.M.B's Komplicated (AKA Alex Fortune) writes, “['Retribution''s main message is] that life is not always a sweet bed of roses, and that in most cases, you are a product of your environment and only the determined mind can escape. That mind that can see past the clouds and stare into the sun. Now that's a man that's ready for change.”

That the music of “Retribution” is a direct result of hard living can hardly be denied. Asked to cite some main artistic influences, Komplicated replies with the following, harrowing list: “Growing up in the hood, watching my mother struggle with five children, and having a dad who you barely know and see.”

The first review of the new record at Amazon gives it five out of five stars. “This album is off the chain,” it acclaims, calling the album 'straight hardcore-gangsta rap.' The review concludes, “Haven't heard anything like this since Tupac [Shakur].”

“Retribution” by Komplicated and the rest of the minds at B.M.B and Sound Konstruction Ent. is available online worldwide.

Nishay Fisher releases new EP 'Gravity Point'

The singer and songwriter known as Nishay Fisher has released her latest EP record, “Gravity Point.” The extended-play record contains six original tracks from the artist for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. It has been proudly published on the GoldStruck Entertainment independent music label without support from the corporate music industry. Upbeat, highly danceable, and well-suited for today's public radio listeners, “Gravity Point” is an excellent example of contemporary pop in 2014.

Nishay Fisher, who goes only by Nishay on her new record, hails from the capital city of Nassau in the Bahamas. Asked to cite some of her most important artistic influences, she meekly balks, saying only, “Honest in my heart, too many artistic influences to name.” While her new album certainly does belong primarily to the category of pop music, certain nuances can be noted which set her apart from the rest. These elements hint at the cultural underpinnings that guide her unique musical character.

“I grew up going to my father's live shows and listening to different types of music,” Nishay writes, “including a local sound called 'rake and scrape,' which is a Bahamian cultural art form surrounding a Bahamian festival called 'Junkanoo.'”

Neither was Nishay herself an island of music born to uncreative parents. “Growing up, I was a child prodigy of a musical family,” she writes. “My father is a lead guitarist in a band, one of my brothers plays the saxophone, my sister sings, and my great grandfather played the bass. We're just really involved in music and art.”

With song titles like “Kiss Kiss” and “You Little Devil You,” contrasting with others such as “Murder” and “Don't Give A...,” it's easy to tell that “Gravity Point” has more to say than mere sugar and spice.

Of this Nishay says, “I named my first release 'Gravity Point' because as much as I have been held down by a strong weight in some areas of my life, I have never stopped; I have kept moving. Now I am at the point where I feel as if there is only up from here and nothing to hold me back.”

Far from a work of fiction, “Gravity Point” is an autobiographical musical work.

“Each song on my EP represents a part of my life I have been through,” says Nishay. “Every song on this EP album is a true story. In the long run, I hope my fans and listeners can somehow relate – and if it helps them positively to know they're not alone, that's ultimately the goal I would love to accomplish.”

Ripe Red Apple releases new LP 'Ripe Red Apple'

The blues group called Ripe Red Apple has released their new LP record, “Ripe Red Apple.” The self-titled album comprises 10 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of half an hour. It has been proudly released independent of support from the corporate music industry. Soulful, sonorous, groovy and heartfelt, “Ripe Red Apple” by Ripe Red Apple is easily one of the most ensnaring original blues records to be published in recent memory.

Ripe Red Apple cite as main artistic influences such legends as Charlie Patton, Billie Holiday, Big Mama Thornton, and Lead Belly, as well as rock groups like Velvet Underground, Neil Young, the Band and PJ Harvey. Their sound is gilded with nuances of contemporary folk and classic rock, yet with a bulletproof loyalty to genuine blues music. This faithfulness to the musical traditions of the American South is the prevailing overtone of “Ripe Red Apple,” making it a natural counterpart to records by foundational artists like Son House, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and Robert Johnson. Fans of blues music from the Mississippi Delta region are especially likely to appreciate Ripe Red Apple's new LP.

Speaking of the themes of their new record, Ripe Red Apple writes, “When Eve ate the apple in the Garden of Eden, she was doing something beautiful. With her knowledge and possibilities no longer limited, she gave us the passionate will we have today and the spectrum of emotions that make life worth living. Our music is about the struggles that come from this freedom.”

At the heart of Ripe Red Apple are singer Gaia Lyle and lead guitarist Gonzalo Villa. The duo began more than five years ago on the streets of Valparaiso, Chile, where the two popular performers teamed up to make a more powerful whole. Having since relocated to Portland, OR in search of “something more,” Ripe Red Apple now boasts the talents of Alexandra Geffel on drums and Chris Benson on second guitar, whose performances are also featured on the full-length album.

Otto Lugger releases new EP 'Recombining'

The music composer known as Otto Lugger has released his latest EP record, “Recombining.” The EP comprises five original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. It has been released on the United Studios Multimedia Collective independent music label. Ambient, spacious and thronged with subtle complexities interwoven throughout, “Recombining” by Otto Lugger is a work of sonic art that expresses the inborn connectivity of all things.

Otto Lugger is the stage name of digital musician Luis Marques. For “Recombining,” Marques has enlisted the instrumental talents of Ricardo Gordo. Gordo plays Portugese guitar against and intertwined with variously textured layers of electronic music composed by Marques. Marques calls the process by which he braids Gordo's guitar with these digital patterns 'recombination;' hence, the title of the EP.

“Listeners will be transported from the acoustic and traditional to the modern and electronic,” says Marques of Otto Lugger. “This is the combination that I want them to perceive, the mix between the old and the new. The [style of] Portuguese guitar recorded in this EP is very popular and is used nowadays in all kinds of genres besides Fado (a very traditional genre in Portugal). I made these songs to mix this traditional approach to the modern and electronic field, a new way to 'look' at the Portuguese guitar.”

Otto Lugger's new EP also boasts cover artwork by Soraia Claro. Her image makes a clear representation of underlying patterns in material and organic space, much like the songs of “Recombining,” themselves.

Otto Lugger cites as main artistic influences Aes Dana, Alva Noto, Brian Eno, Diamond Versions, Ryoji Ikeda, and Amon Tobin. Luis Marques learned piano first at the age of nine, after which he trained in acoustic and bass guitar. He earned his Electronic Music Degree in 2005 and his Interactive Music Master's in 2009. He has developed software for real-time performances, generative music composition, graphic environments for electronic-music performance, and more. His current work for Contemporary Music is on granular audio software, which aims to create sounds in real time based on a sequencer. He last worked on generating drum patterns using artificial-intelligence algorithms.

“Recombining” by Otto Lugger is available online worldwide. Fans of ambient music and Portugese guitar should get in early.

Roll 4 Self releases new single 'City Lights'

The rap crew known around the world as Roll 4 Self have released their new single, “City Lights.” In addition to the talents of Roll 4 Self (Georgia hip-hop artists Big C and Tee) the track features additional skills and performances by Jasmine Rhey and Loose Bills. It has been published proudly on the Roll 4 Self Productions independent music label, entirely without support from the mainstream corporate music industry. With style, rhythm and urban groove deeper and more smooth than anything from the underground rap genre in months, “City Lights” is a single all fans of the scene can get behind.

Roll 4 Self cite as main artistic influences such legends of the mic as Tupac Shakur, Outkast, T.I., and Jay-Z. Elements of each of these are easily noted in “City Lights,” but their own inimitable sound is one that marks them as one of the best contemporary hip-hop bands to come from Georgia. This unmistakable character, joined on “City Lights” by Jasmine Rhey's clarion, crystalline vocals and by the heavy-hitting lines and rhymes of Florida's own rapper, Loose Bills, is not an easy combination to match with anything else.

Roll 4 Self have been performing since the early 2000s. Their official band bio describes their usual subgenres as including street, dance, and smooth hip hop, the latter to which “City Lights” specifically belongs. Roll 4 Self have performed a great many live shows over the years and sold albums both in the United States of America and overseas.

Asked to describe any inherent message their new track might have in store for fans and new listeners, Roll 4 Self write simply, “'City Lights' is smooth hip hop capturing the thoughts of the night life under the city lights with a feature from Florida rapper Loose Bills, along with the angelic vocals of Jasmine Rhey.” They cap off this description: “Just ride and enjoy.”

Rapper Da 1 Handed Bandit releases new single 'I Ain't Callin Ya'

The rapper and performer of hip hop known as Da 1 Handed Bandit has released her latest official single, “I Ain't Callin Ya.” The track has been released as a spearhead and preview of her upcoming, highly awaited album, “God's New Breed,” both of which are being proudly published on the independent Burn'Em Up Productions record label without support from the corporate music industry. Heavy hitting, direct, and more aggressive than a platoon of angry marines, “I Ain't Callin Ya” by Da 1 Handed Bandit is a must-hear for fans of rap music everywhere.

“I Ain't Callin Ya,” like other tracks from Da 1 Handed Bandit, is variously cataloged as rap, hip hop, gangsta and hardcore rap, and her unabashed rhymes and lines can stand strong with any of the material by such artists as DMX, Snoop Lion, or the Notorious B.I.G.. Nevertheless, she cites as main artistic influences no specific artists.

“I listen to any artist that speaks about realistic things of life,” she writes, noting that for inspiration she looks to both her late brother and the Christian God.

“I watched my older brother growing up. He loved raps, and he wrote a lot. R.I.P. Ra-Ra Clincy! But then again, I think it's in the blood; my younger brother raps, also.” Speaking of the themes of her soon-to-be-released record, she relates, “My album is about my life. I just want people to know that you can do all things through our Heavenly Father. When you are in the streets, there is another choice than hell or jail.”

Asked whether she writes her music alone or collaborates with other rappers, Da 1 Handed Bandit says, “I write all my music. The way I look at it is, how can a two-handed person write for a one-handed person? … LOL.”

Da 1 Handed Bandit's official bio from Burn'Em Up Productions describes her as “courageous and lyrically inclined in music,” with much “accrued street credibility” and nothing to prove. “She has earned every inch of her success and respect in the music business,” the bio continues, declaring that “Tycie Burns (AKA 'Da 1 Handed Bandit') has become a business woman, owning a record label, writing an influential book, and being known as the top female rapper out of Jackson, MS.”

Further setting her apart from other rappers, the bio specifies, is her official motto: “I am not an entertainer.”

“I Ain't Callin Ya” by Da 1 Handed Bandit is available online worldwide beginning 8 August 2014.

TJ Thompson releases new single 'Out of Dreams'

Independent singer and songwriter TJ Thompson has released his latest single, “Out of Dreams.” The track has been proudly published on the WFD Records independent music label without support from the corporate music industry. It has been released concurrently with an accompanying B-side track, “Floodgates.” Together the tracks have an approximate listening time of 10 minutes. Heartfelt, passionate, rich in tonal complexity and written with an ear for both Brit-pop sonorousness and lyric poetry, “Out of Dreams” stands as a fine example of how songwriting and solo rock projects may be perfectly married.

Asked to cite a few main artistic influences, TJ Thompson replies with tongue firmly in cheek: “Radiohead, Radiohead, Radiohead, Neil Young, Radiohead.” But despite his modest nod to what he considers the most obvious of his stylistic underpinnings, still there remain a great many attributes in “Out of Dreams” and “Floodgates” which are Thompson's own and his own only.

Perhaps most notably, both tracks are more earnest and less dependent on studio production. A raw, natural talent shines through the careful and expert mixing of TJ Thompson's music which pairs properly with the clarity of his instrumental performances and purity of vocal deliveries. His songwriting, couched in the modern mode of alternative rock, mixes the best elements of traditional folk songwriting with those of British pop music. The result is a blend far less pretentious, potentially much more effective for lasting power and greater re-playability.

Writing candidly of the themes of his new single(s), TJ Thompson writes, “I try to write songs that allow the listener to apply it to whatever they want. So hopefully they can connect to the music, then apply the lyrics to whatever makes them feel better, or whatever they wish to imagine.”

TJ Thompson, 28, is a native of Madison, WI and has been playing music for most of his life.

“I always loved it since I was a kid,” he writes. “My brother and cousins were in a band, and I wanted to do that too. The minute I picked up a guitar, I knew I wanted to write and record music the rest of my life.”

He describes an inborn urge to create with the same acuity with which he crafts his songs and words.

“Being able to create something in the form of sound, something that did not exist five minutes before you wrote it, is a great feeling. Sound is easiest thing to invent but it's the hardest thing to make good. That's why I love making music – the challenge. Once I write a song, I wanna write one that's even better. I strive for the perfect song. Once I get that, I'll stop writing music. Good thing I'm not perfect.”

Almadrava releases new EP '13 Years Remixed Part 1'

The composers of digital music known in Europe and abroad as Almadrava have released their latest EP record, “13 Years Remixed Part 1.” The record contains four original tracks and a bonus radio mix of “Land of Eternal Sunset” for an approximate total listening time of half an hour. “13 Years Remixed Part 1” has been published on the popular independent music label, The Jump Records. In addition to the copious talents of Almadrava, the EP also features remixes by artists Sergi Domene, Deep State of Mind, Cesar Loreshhh, and Cesar de Melero Duendeando. Part chillout, part progressive house, part traditional EDM, “13 Years Remixed Part 1” by Almadrava is some of the most culturally textured, intriguing digital music to be produced in recent years.

Almadrava cites such main artistic influences as Afterlife, Mandalay, Morcheeba, Goldfrapp, Dido, and Chicane. The crew is actually a duo who have been collaborating since the turn of the millennium, Europe's Patricia Leidig and Pedro Toro. Toro, who shares the task of writing music with lead singer and songwriter Leidig, also lists musicians outside the EDM spectrum like '80s pop music, Depeche Mode, Waterboys, Alan Parsons, and Supertramp.

Asked to give a short rundown of the band's history, Toro replies, “Patricia is playing the piano since she was three years old. I'm a video director, and we needed soundtracks for some documentaries.”

Almadrava began writing music in earnest in 2001. Their original sound is steeped in the ambient subculture and this is the character they give to audiences with their first record, “Blanco y Negro.” Their official band bio describes this early offering as “Combining classic instruments with synthesizers, tradition with modernity, the beautiful with the strange, Almadrava brings the listener to a chill-out world, where every single song is important.”

The band began remixing songs for well-known and respected composers like Transfer, Jask, Information Society, Tukan, M-Black, Sunblind and De-Nuit.
Around this time, Almadrava also wrote the first musical of the air, “Dreamings.” The musical was presented in November 2002 in Motegi, Japan, to an audience of more than 55,000.

2003 saw the publication of their second album, “All You Left Us.” The record met with vast critical and fan acclaim. Their songs came to be included in more than 60 compilation CDs, such as “Café del Mar,” “Hed Kandi,” “Buddha Bar,” “Winterchill,” and “Chillout Sessions.”

There was a lull in record production for Almadrava following these hits, until they released 2010's “Spectrum” record. Also, another year later saw the re-release of “All You Left Us,” the popularity of which had not waned in nearly a decade.

Speaking directly of their new, proud release of “13 Years Remixed Part 1,” Almadrava's label writes, “13 years after [Almadrava's beginning], four albums, and with their music on many main chillout compilations, they wanted to celebrate this anniversary opening their music to a selected group of friends and DJs. The result has been a group of EPs, '13 Years Remixed' which will be released during the second half of 2014.”

“Why celebrate 13 years?” writes Almadrava. “Why not? We are happy to be here and we hope to reach further away. It's our will to make things good. Thirteen is an important part of the count, the one NOW. And our celebration starts with this 'Remixed Part 1.'”

UFODJs release new LP 'Space Sound'

The composers and purveyors of digital music known as UFODJs have released their latest full-length album, “Space Sound.” The LP record is composed of 10 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of one full hour. It has been published on the Sunday Makes Records independent music label. With elements of ambient, electro house, progressive house and other genres from the popular front of digital music, “Space Sound” by UFODJs is one of today's best examples of the contemporary studio sound, and a record by one of the few bands claiming a home other than earth.

UFODJs cite as main artistic influences Armin Van Buuren, Fatboy Slim, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Ben Liebrand, Prince, and the Prodigy. Yet this is where their familiarity with other DJs and musicians allegedly ends.

Upon being asked, “How did you start getting involved in music?” the UFODJs respond succinctly, “We learn from Human.” When questioned regarding the overall theme and message their new LP record might have in store for fans and new listeners, UFODJs reply, “We landed. We are aliens not robot.”

Their official website maintains this as the literal truth, also (link provided below). Even when lengthened from the acronym, UFODJs, their name is consistent with this background. These disc jockeys are from Ultra Funky Origins. The duo comprises musicians U.V and U.I [sic], who are described in their official bio as having come to Earth in the 1960s during the popularity of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and David Bowie.

“Bringing with them sounds from a distant future,” their bio reads, “the peculiar visitors UV and UI went on a mission to prepare the world for the music that's to come. Disguised in human suits, they assimilated themselves as one of us, traversing the world to inoculate people with their strange gift of music. And through the untold number of lives they crossed, they had inevitably influenced popular culture in an alternative history we were never taught in class.

“In their latest exploit, they are aliens pretending to be humans pretending to be aliens, a clever scheme to finally walk the earth in their own skins while sharing their music to everyone.”

Polar Echo releases new LP 'One'

The alternative rock artist known as Polar Echo has released his definitive new LP, “One.” The album is composed of ten original tracks, plus an acoustic version of “Fire in Your Eyes” and a bonus track, “Touch the Sky,” for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. It has been released on the Timlin Records independent music label. Smooth and groovy, both pleasantly casual and deeply striking, “One” is an album with something for listeners of every genre all over the world.

Polar Echo (born Mikhail Mikhailov) cites as main artistic influences such legendary musicians as Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, Muse, Snow Patrol, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, and Bob Dylan. Of these, Polar Echo's “One” LP has most in common with Coldplay and Snow Patrol, sharing the emotional intensity of both, as well as the inclusion of widely varied tones and tempos. Showcasing Polar Echo's naturally impeccable vocals and tastefully subtle singing style, “One” also brings some of the best songwriting on or off the airwaves.

Speaking of the sound of his record, Polar Echo writes, “My music was written in many moods at different times and under various musical influences. It is rock, sometimes with implementation of electronic, sometimes folk- or country-sounding with a tinge of post-Britpop (thanks to Coldplay).”

Many of the songs on “One” have Polar Echo's personal thoughts for major themes.

“A lot of the songs talk about love and passion, like most of today's artists,” he writes. “However some of what I write is about me seeking power to keep going, disregarding discouragement from people around me to keep trying. Particularly the songs 'Off Course' and 'Fire in Your Eyes.' Hope it helps listeners too. 'Home' talks about the concept of 'home' that disappears in one's head over time, if one moves around quite a bit like I did myself.”

Polar Echo recorded and produced “One” as a solo project, playing all the instruments himself: guitars, bass, drums, piano, and harmonica. He is involved with the Corvallis Guitar Collective (CGC) band in Oregon, and is currently collaborating with local musicians such as Ta Rungrojanaluck, Nathan Mayers, and Cornelius Wona.

Belarus-born singer-songwriter Mikhail began his musical journey on piano, attending music school at the age of six. He won first place in a jazz competition at Minsk, Belarus at 11. He earned his International Baccalaureate in music by 19, and moved to Oregon to complete his first album by the age of 22. He is currently a student of Oregon State University.
