Axel Wayn releases new single 'Step by Step (feat. Anthya)'

The multi-talented musician and producer known as Axel Wayn has released his latest single, an electronic dance track titled, “Step by Step (feat. Anthya).” The track has been published on the TuneAxademy music label. “Step by Step” has been made available in its original, seven-minute mix for DJs and fans as well as in a truncated five-minute edition edited for radio. Both versions feature singing and lyrics by Anthya. An upbeat, energetic and vivifying song, Wayn's “Step by Step” is one of the most exciting additions to the EDM repertoire in recent months.

Axel Wayn cites as main artistic influences such artists as Miles Davis, Jerry Mulligan, Bach, and Carl Cox. If this list seems counter-intuitive, it is because Wayn has himself taken a long and interesting journey to reach his current place in the modern electronic music scene.

Italian-born Axel Wayn's introduction to music began with his parents, who sang in a choir. A famous musicologist inspired him to begin studying, and he began with classical music, attending conservatory. After years of private tutoring with renowned teachers, Wayn found himself performing for the Pope in Vatican City (among a great many other places).

Classical led him to study jazz, which gave him a soloist's chops and trained him in experimental music. Having been invited to collaborate with some DJs and digital music composers as a soloist, Axel Wayn finally came to love house, trance, and EDM, the style of music showcased in his new track, “Step by Step.”

There are similarities, of course, and Wayn is quick to point out that his past training often comes in handy.

“Every track in the DJ's set or at concerts is rearranged and also uses jazz techniques for improvisation,” he explains.

Speaking of the themes of the single he created with singer Anthya, who penned the lyrics, Wayn writes, “I prefer don’t speak about a specific message, because I think the listeners have to be free to feel their own emotions, or perhaps more messages that they are able to sense by listening to the song.”

Jose Uceda releases new single 'Lala Song'

The producer and composer of digital music known as Jose Uceda has released his latest electronic dance music single, “Lala Song.” The song is the most significant worldwide release from Uceda since his September 2013 single with Funtastik Legacy, “Juntastic (The Rise).” “Lala Song” has a playing time of nearly seven minutes and has been published on the Unconventional Records music label.

Spanish composer Jose Uceda cites as main artistic influences Eddie Amador, Deep Swing, Roger Sanchez, and Junior Jack. As one might suspect, elements of each of these can be found in subtle tones and nuances throughout his music. This latest single, “Lala Song,” represents his revisiting of the origins of EDM, back to its roots in the 1990s when it was called alternative music and techno.

“I wanna return with this track to the classical house music grooves,” he writes, “but giving it the powerful sound that new technologies bring us today.”

As such, fans of European house and contemporary nightclub fare will both very exceptionally pleased. Fans of artists such as LA Style and KLF will also find familiar excellence in “Lala Song.”

Uceda began his musical career somewhat differently than his fans might suspect.

“I began when I was 10 years old,” writes Uceda, “studying classical piano in professional conservatory for 6 years. When I was 18 I joined university to study my graduate [work] in computer engineering, and at the same time began to work as a DJ and producing my own tracks for different labels worldwide: USA, Spain, Portugal…”

Uceda, who has more than 17 releases available online everywhere, has worked with such talents as Sampleking and Junior D’Acosta (Privilege Ibiza 2011 residents), Katrina Q, IreneB, DJ Frisco, Lily Day, Groove Garcia (today known as UNER), Adrian Rey, Ruben de Lis, Sophia Sans, and Fran Ramirez and Mich Golden (Groove Ministers).

IB Odd releases new single 'Coconut Rum'

The singer and songwriter known as IB Odd has released his latest dance single, titled, “Coconut Rum.” The track is the newest in a growing repertoire from IB Odd which includes his popular 2013 tracks, “Sprezzatura” and “Solen,” as well as earlier titles such as 2010's “Nordic Jam.” All of the songs released by IB Odd has been published on the Nuzzai music records label.

Music by IB Odd (also previously referred to as IB Odd Vegger) is warm, tropical, danceable and fun with tons of style and zero pretense. Sha-D and DC release new single 'I'm Gone'

The rap team of Sha-D and DC have released their latest official single track, “I'm Gone.” The single comes from the larger official LP mixtape, “State of Mind.” Both bodies of music have been released on the What If Y Not Entertainment record label (often stylized WiYnE) one of the hip-hop genre's most remarkable and creative rising-star companies. “I'm Gone” by Sha-D and DC represents the most prominent publication from the duo and What If Y Not Ent. in recent months, and is slated to become available from online outlets soon after 20 March 2014.

DC and Sha-D (short for Derrick Carl Onuoha and Shakeem Durden, respectively) are urban poets from the New Jersey area, one of the world's oldest hotbeds of underground hip-hop music. DC has been described by WIYNE as having been led to music via an arduous and gritty youth in Newark.

“He remembers growing up and not always having the luxury of certain things that his peers around him had,” writes the New Jersey label on his behalf. “Making music is his passion. CMG Bosses release new singles 'Russell' and 'Play Harder'

The rap crew known as the CMG Bosses have released two new singles, titled “Russell” and “Play Harder,” respectively. The poets based in the Maryland and Washington, DC area have released these tracks on the Catch My Game Entertainment LLC music label. Each single has been concurrently released with both a version edited for radio play and a version tagged with the “Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics” sticker. In addition to the considerable talents of the CMG Bosses, themselves, “Russell” also features the skills of Skinny A. Gritty, hard, ground-level and real as rusty nails, “Russell” and “Play Harder” are two singles which will challenge the underground hip-hop scene of today and place the CMG Bosses at the forefront of the East Coast urban music movement.

The official Facebook page of CMG Bosses describes them largely through the display of a large image banner at the top which reads, “Military Issue; the tools and situations survived only by the grace of God which are given in life to aid in your walk toward success.” This quote derives from their most recent LP album, also published on the Catch My Game Entertainment LLC music label, “Military Issue.” The album was released in a format labeled “street mix” containing 13 original tracks. It served to garner attention for CMG Bosses late in 2012 and again throughout 2013, and to set the stage for this new audio assault in “Russell” and “Play Harder.”

Both “Russell” and “Play Harder” focus on back beats and sly rhymes, with an emphasis on aggressive delivery and danceable grooves. They continue the CMG Bosses' tradition of making rap music for hardcore fans of hip hop, and seem to promise that CMG Bosses and Catch My Game Ent. will be active in the scene for many years to come.

DJ Vagif releases new EP 'In Dreaming'

The composer of electronic music known as DJ Vagif has released his debut EP record, “In Dreaming.” The album is comprised of six original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. It has been proudly published as an independent music release. A rolling electronica record based on a variety of grooves and contemporary digital music styles, “In Dreaming” stands as proof that DJ Vagif is one of America's most creative artists in the digital genre and outside of it.

Finding artists with whom to compare DJ Vagif's “In Dreaming” is difficult. The digital composer's official ReverbNation page cites such popular fellow DJs as Bonobo, 9th Wonder, Pretty Lights, RJD2 and Ratatat as similar in style or sound. Still, Vagif's work on “In Dreaming” isn't like anything else. It's a record full of character and subtle innovations.

“I love Flume and his bouncy vocals and kick snare,” comments DJ Vagif. “I would say for this album Flume influenced me the most.”

Further discussing the raw ingredients that go into his music, DJ Vagif writes, “I produce all of the songs from the ground up. I had the chance to work with a young singer [Alms] from outside of the U.S. on track 2 from my album called 'Over You.' She did great, and wrote the lyrics herself.”

Vagif's sounds are spacious and ambient without at all belonging to the ambient subgenre of electronic music. His official bio calls him a Salt Lake City DJ, “releasing versatile mixes, singles, EPs, anything from electro, hip hop, mash-up, instrumental to dubstep and classic, all that consist of his own personality and different genres that surge through his headphones.”

In the end, his turntables prove to be one of his most important sonic weapons.

“I started getting involved [with music] after high school,” he writes, “with buying my first set of turntables. I loved the experimental style of turntablism, and making something your own unique sound. After a year I started spinning at local hip-hop shows and have not stopped. Producing has always been in my heart, and the turntables brought that out in me.”

Speaking of the themes in “In Dreaming,” DJ Vagif says, “I think my albums message generates everyday life with my listeners. From the ups and downs of the day and moods we go in through sound, and beats.”
