Rapper Glitch Arsonist G5 releases new EP 'Holy Trinity'

The rapper and producer from Queens, NYC has released his latest EP record, “Holy Trinity.” The album comprises five original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. It is the newest addition to Glitch Arsonist G5's growing repertoire which popularly began with 2013's “Ten Years of Writing,” to be followed by “The Great Tribulation,” released on Sept. 11th one year later. All three albums have been proudly published on the Establishment Records independent music label, outside the scope and influence of the corporate music industry.

Gritty, real, and written in the truest tradition of the borough that first brought hip hop to the world at large, “Holy Trinity” by Glitch Arsonist G5 is urban poetry with a gospel heart and a New York soul.

Glitch Arsonist G5 has repeatedly cited Nas as his chief influence, in addition to the work of legends like the Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Jay-Z, the Lox, Cormega, Big Pun, Beanie Sigel, and others. His own sound cleaves mostly to the darker, heavy-hitting tones of Nas than to the others, but overall Glitch's sound is his own.

“I used to always try to top [Nas's] album lyrically after every time he dropped,” writes Glitch Arsonist. “He used to put me in the real lyrical mood and state of mind. He would have me rapping about that similar content and mind-state for days.”

Bringing razor-sharp lines which alternate between social commentary and spiritual inspiration, his “Holy Trinity” is only the latest reason for rap fans to pay close attention to this rising star from the East Coast.

Asked to describe the general theme and message of his “Holy Trinity” EP, Glitch Arsonist writes, “Just be yourself and anything is possible – and to also have faith in God.”

Glitch Arsonist G5 grew up in the Woodside Houses and was exposed to violence, robberies, blackouts, and other harsh realities of the urban landscape. Though he had always dreamed of a life in the NBA, Glitch began rapping at the young age of 13 and before long had spent time in a Manhattan recording studio. He has been described as “humble and consistent, regardless of surrounding circumstances and the current climate of the hip-hop industry.”

“Everything you do is a stepping stone to the next stone,” Glitch Arsonist G5 has said. “Take everything as a grain of sand and put your own sense into it. If people ain't hating on you then there's something you're not doing right, so don't let hate fold you. Always remain humble, because that ego sh-t is no good. It might be good for recording purposes, but it's no good for networking purposes.”

Glitch Arsonist G5 releases new LP 'The Great Tribulation'

The East Coast rapper known as Glitch Arsonist G5 has released his latest LP album, “The Great Tribulation.” The record is composed of 9 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 30 minutes. It is the most recent official release from Glitch Arsonist since his spring 2013 album, “Ten Years of Writing.” Both LPs are produced and distributed on New York's independent music label, the Establishment Records. Backed with unstoppable beats, bass, rhymes and lines, “The Great Tribulation” is the latest in what is sure to be a long series of titanic records from Glitch Arsonist G5.

Glitch Arsonist cites as main artistic influences only one legendary rapper, Nas.

“I used to always try to top Nas' album lyrically after every [album] he dropped,” writes Glitch Arsonist. “He used to put me in the real lyrical mood and mental state and would have me rapping about similar content.”

Intuitively, “The Great Tribulation” is packed with many of the same attributes and qualities which have made Nas' music so integral to the lasting power of the hip-hop movement. Glitch Arsonist's thought-provoking lyrics, aggressive vocal delivery and pounding, thumping back beats drive his record from start to finish like a steam engine gone off the rails. His long-standing promise to restore the rap scene to its former glory by bringing back the “REAL hip hop” sound was partially fulfilled by “Ten Years of Writing,” and “The Great Tribulation” brings his goal even closer.

Glitch Arsonist G5 got his start by recording “dis” records during the Nas / Jay-Z feud in the early 2000s.

“During that era my 'hood was split up into record labels (cliques, groups),” writes Glitch, “and we were all making dis records at each other at my niggaz crib on his karaoke machine. We used to go outside with a radio playing our songs to get a response for it, to see how good it was and for bragging rights and competition.”

The response, as it turned out, was strong. By the time he was 15, Glitch had attracted the attention of a manager.

“He pushed me to record my first album and make songs. He got me the beats and I used to rap my songs to him in his car when he came through to see if it was good enough to record in the studio. They were always good enough to record, but that helped me keep my skills sharp and to try to produce my best work, as well as using his guidance to learn how to perfect and master the recording process.”

Glitch Arsonist printed 1000 CDs and sold them on the street. 700 albums deep, everything started to fall into place. His latest record is undoubtedly his greatest work to date, founded on more than ten years of writing, rapping, and putting everything he's got into making straight-up, heavy-hitting hip-hop records.

Glitch Arsonist releases new LP 'Ten Years of Writing'

The rap artist from Queens, NY known as Glitch Arsonist has released his long-awaited LP album, “Ten Years of Writing,” to rave reviews. The album is comprised of 13 original tracks for a total playing time of approximately 40 minutes. Its themes vary from the deep and meaningful to the carefree and musing, each track but one marked with the explicit lyrics tag for Glitch's proud and poetic expressions of free speech.

The record is packed wall-to-wall with heavy, old-school back beats, but at no time does the music outshine Glitch Arsonist, himself. His backing music is truly awe-inspiring at times, however, as in his powerful and gorgeous anthem, “It's So Lovely,” which features a spooky, pretty piano melody that the Arsonist paints with rhymes and lines so clever and intuitive, it's almost as if he were quoting them. Glitch is a rapper from the old tradition, a true Shakespeare of the streets. His words are quick, sure, and honest, cutting right to the bone of whatever topic on which he happens to be philosophizing. Like Glitch himself, his lyrics are smart, fearless, and boldly aggressive.

“Everything you do is a stepping stone,” he writes openly. “If people ain’t hating on you, then there’s something you're not doing right – so don’t let hate fold you.”

This prizefighter's temperament is balanced with Glitch's good sense and calm demeanor. He has the patience and discerning mind of a chess player. “Always remain humble,” he continues. “That ego s*** is no good. It might be good for recording purposes, but it’s no good for networking purposes.”

Truer words were never spoken. “Ten Years of Writing” is full of proverbs from Glitch such as this, and the beats that go with them are basic, bass-driven, and nothing but good. The only demand the music listening world must make of Glitch Arsonist following this phenomenal record is, “Please, Glitch, don't take ten years to give us another.”

“Ten Years of Writing” by Glitch Arsonist is available online worldwide beginning 14 April 2013.
