Tooda has spoken before about the themes in his music. His current official bio quotes him as saying, “The meaning of the music I create is to bring back courage, reality, love, and emotion right along with my image because I choose to look dark and urban, yet also to inspire those who are different that being different is OK – to be whoever you wanna be. We all are unique with personalities. I myself, I look at myself as a fallen angel who's living on earth until it's my time to fly again for the king, God himself.”

“Siko” by Tooda Smooth on the I'm a Winner Ent. label is available from over 600 quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early, hip-hop fans.

Big Flame Thrower releases new rap single 'I Be Working'

The hip hop performer known as Big Flame Thrower has released his latest rap single, “I Be Working.” The track has been proudly published on the Flamed Up Records independent music label without the control of the corporate music industry. Booming with bass and flexing with healthy aggression, “I Be Working” by Big Flame Thrower proves that hip hop in 2016 is stronger than ever.

New Orleans' Big Flame Thrower cites as main artistic influences Jay-Z, D.M.X, Soulja Slim, Jadakiss, the Notorious BIG, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent and Birdman.

“Really everyone who's making a living doing music,” writes Big Flame. “Successful artists influence me. Young Thug, Future, 2 Chains, Drake, and Yo Gotti are the artists of this era that I look to for influence.”

Big Flame Thrower's name hints at his style of hip hop production. “I Be Working” brings big, big sound and intelligent, even inspiring lyrics. Flame raps from the heart with drum and bass to back him in a solid, sonic wall. Synth melody lines are clever and surprising, unique and effective. While it's a positive, empowering hip hop track, the sound of “...Working” is ominous and dark.

“I Be Working” is the first single from his upcoming project, “Real Talk Vol II.” It's also a personal track.

“My album will tell my story,” Flame writes. “How I live, how I came from nothing and against all odds – I still do this. It will display pain, raw talent, strong sexual music, and also songs that's thought provoking, just something a little different from the normal. It will give you a look into my life.”

Big Flame Thrower broke into the scene with his debut solo project, “My Time to Shine.” He has been called by fans and friends by several names: Black Sheep, World Wide, and simply, “Rap.” He has been freestyle rapping since 12. He has shared the stage with popular Louisiana artists such as Lil Josh & Lil Earnest, Sam I Am, U.N.L.V, Outlaw Music Group, 5th Ward Weebie, Webbie, Asia Sky, Lil Boosie, Hot Boy Ronald, U.T.P, BDMG, Mr. Magic (No Limit), Lava House Records, and more. He has opened for acts as well-known as the Party Boys, B.G., Huey, Canibus, and U.G.K. Records.

The rapper is a humble man but one with plenty of ambition.

“Though very few people outside of Louisiana and Mississippi have heard of Big Flame Thrower,” he says, “make no mistake that my drive, persistence, humility, and talent will take me just where I'm destined to go – to stardom.”

“I Be Working” by Big Flame Thrower is available online worldwide at over 700 digital music stores beginning 19 July 2016.

Frhetoric & Rawiri James release new rap album 'D:T:F'

The hip-hop duo known as Frhetoric and Rawiri James have released their latest EP record, “D:T:F.” Coming loaded with six original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes, the album has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. Blasting with bass, thumping with beats and boasting some of the tightest turns of phrase ever to strike a mic, “D:T:F” is clearly one of the best rap records to appear in 2015 so far.

Frhetoric and Rawiri James cite as main artistic influences Ludacris, Tech N9ne, Lupe Fiasco, and Kendrick Lamar. While elements of each of these can be heard on “D:T:F,” their intelligence and creativity have most in common with Lamar, whose music has been helping to reclaim the hip-hop underground from long-tired stereotypes and overused tropes.

Fans of rap looking for something upbeat and new will find more than they can hope to expect in “D:T:F” from Frhetoric and Rawiri James. Regardless of where the listener may be on the globe, these six clever tracks represent a much more engaging hip hop than what's on the mainstream radio anywhere.

In fact, attacking the mainstream is part of what this volatile crew is about. Their current official bio reads, “While the resulting earworms [on D:T:F] are aimed at a mainstream hip-hop audience, the tongue-in-cheek lyrics deliver blows to a music industry that takes itself too seriously.”

The record has also been described as “a journey into a world of braggadocio and innuendo, where mundane objects are turned into lecherous metaphors.”

Asked to describe the themes of their new album, Frhetoric and Rawiri James recite a short list: “Existentialism, intellectualism, delusions of grandeur, and fun.”

If any or all of the above sounds too good to be true, the music fan is encouraged to taste the proof firsthand. This strong little record suggests that the era of bottom-shelf hip hop is finally coming to a close.

“D:T:F” by Frhetoric and Rawiri James is available online worldwide beginning September 18, 2015. Get in early, rap fans. Very, very early.
