'Chasin' the Sunbeams' single from Stephen Lantz released

The composer and performer of music known as Stephen Lantz has released his second official single for 2015, “Chasin' the Sunbeams.” The single comes on the heels of his popular, upbeat rock track, “High Sonority,” which introduced audiophiles around the world to this masterful virtuoso of instrumental music. Warm, invigorating, and easily accessible to listeners of all ages and genres, “Chasin' the Sunbeams” is a jubilant instrumental track that makes daylight seem all the brighter.

Stephen Lantz is known for writing songs which showcase the rich, clarion tones of particularly beautiful musical instruments. He plays these instruments in such a way as to blend them seamlessly into the composition, so seamlessly that the listener hears only the song itself, rather than its various parts.

“Chasin' the Sunbeams” is a piece fronted by a lively mandolin, one of a host of instruments at which Lantz is clearly adept. The single differs from Lantz's “High Sonority” by straying from classic-rock foundations in favor of the American bluegrass tradition. His straightforward, unpretentious mandolin playing combines with the intuitive natural flow which characterizes his songwriting to pull both performer and listener alike headfirst into the sound. Aficionados will agree that the overall experience of “Chasin' the Sunbeams” is reminiscent of Irish and British folk music in its tasteful, minimalist composition.

Stephen Lantz's artistic inspirations come from every point on the compass rose. He has cited the folk music of Peter, Paul and Mary and Pete Seeger, the classic rock of Cream and the Rolling Stones, the “light” rock of the Beatles, Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles, the bluegrass music of Front Range, Hot Rize and Lester Flatt, and the true country-music sounds of Merle Haggard and Jerry Jeff Walker. That his own sound demonstrates his familiarity with all of these so palpably is undeniable.

Speaking of his long history in music, Lantz writes, “My dad could sing western songs really well and could also play his own guitar accompaniment with skill. My mom was also a good singer and pianist. With such musical parents, I was hooked on music!”

It wasn't country which finally snared the artist, however. Lantz cut his teeth playing live rock music onstage for more than a decade.

“In my college and post-college years,” he writes, “I played in a great band with my good friends for about twelve years. We were a variety band and could do hard rock, rock, ballads, show tunes, country and western, blues and even bluegrass when my late brother played with us. Our vocals were truly superior and we could hold our own on the instruments, too.”

Like most musicians, however, he's had to leave the stage to make room for the rest of life, dedicating his talents to the music studio, instead.

“Then came job responsibilities, children, etc. and my music got relegated to the back burner for the most part. Now I've got more space and want to share my music with listeners to provide them with uplifting enjoyment.”

“Chasin' the Sunbeams” by Stephen Lantz is available online worldwide beginning 9 April 2015. Get in early, music fans. Be sure not to miss his previous official single, “High Sonority,” online for listening and download everywhere.

Rapper Young Ent releases new single 'K.m.a.n.'

Rapper and songwriter of hip hop Young Ent has released his latest single, “K.m.a.n.” The track has been proudly published on the Dirty M!d Entertainment independent music label entirely without interference or adulteration from the corporate music industry. Filled with beats, wit, and an endless supply of bass, “K.m.a.n.” is a hip-hop track unlike any other and kicks off Q2 2015 with a steady stream of boom-bap.

Young Ent has cited as main artistic influences Scarface, DMX, Tupac Shakur, the Notorious B.I.G., TI, and TRE. His own sound blends the music of each with a mix of beats that is all his own, finished off with the lyrics and delivery which form the most prominent aspects of his character. His “United We Stand” single, which appeared in January 2015 and was presented by Fight...Win...Survive, turned heads around the hip-hop world and continues to rack up listens and downloads well into its third month live online.

Speaking of the themes of his music, Young Ent himself writes, “[I aim] to be fun with music. Everything isn't as it seems. Good music does a lot of things. So I wanted to test my creativity and come up with something catchy, edgy but cool. It's all about getting your attention first. And once I have that, I can then lead you on my journey… And be a voice to our kids in the near future.”

Young Ent was raised in East Saint Louis, IL, where he writes that he was surrounded at all times by music.

“I was raised in the church, where I was around music all my life. I wanted to play basketball and go to the pros … I never knew I was supposed to be an entertainer. Then I got shot June 29th, 2003. I was in the hospital for 12 days and I was only 20 yrs of age. Around that time I was promoting for an artist by the name of Tu Tu G, and he inspired me to write my thoughts down on paper cause he said anybody can do it.”

Young Ent's music career moved onward and upward, accelerating to a mad dash when he relocated to the hip-hop hotbed of Atlanta, GA.

“I moved from Minneapolis,” he says of this, “to pursue my dreams of not only being an entertainer, but also telling my life story, being a role model for kids and to be a voice for our streets.”

In time, Young Ent did more than make music and accomplish the first of his many goals. He started his own label, Dirty M!d Ent., with co- CEO Gatorbred Shawty.

“I've been writing and doing my own music for eight years now,” writes Young Ent. “I have been blessed to have a second chance at life but never did I think I was supposed to be in the limelight. It's about my kids, and representing for those in the struggle, like me.”

HQ releases official single 'Go Deeper'

The singer and songwriter of hip hop music known as HQ has released his latest single, “Go Deeper.” The track is the first single from his popular LP mixtape, “H for Hierarchy,” which appeared on the DatPiff website in July of 2014. HQ's “Go Deeper” single has been proudly published on the Still Young Records independent music label outside the reach of the corporate music infrastructure. Smooth, slick, and bringing dropped bass measurable in sheer tonnage, “Go Deeper” by HQ is a track for DJs, dancers and hip-hop fans alike.

HQ has cited as main artistic influences many of today's most popular legends of the scene, such as Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and Eminem, as well as titans of the old school like the Fugees, Tupac Shakur, and the Notorious B.I.G.. Additionally, HQ also cites reggae demigod Bob Marley and, in his own words, “hip-hop culture in general. I love it.”

As with most music from HQ, “Go Deeper” is a track with a solid theme and positive message. This extends throughout the “H for Hierarchy” LP mixtape, as well.

“The message of my album is be yourself,” HQ writes. “Appreciate and enjoy life. Also: stay hungry, even when your belly full.”

This last proverb is an excellent example of the kinds of wit with which the rapper laces his urban poetry. Every track on “H for Hierarchy,” and especially “Go Deeper,” is a song written with deliberation in its every rhyme and line. This comes as no surprise, however, considering HQ's long experience in sound.

“I was raised on music,” writes the rapper. “Music set the tone of my house growing up. I could always tell what kind of mood my parents were in based off the music they played. I used to watch the Video Music Box with my dad as a kid. I loved music videos. I used to sneak and rap all the songs in the mirror with a brush. I mean I knew every word to every song then. It became part of who I am.”

The brush was replaced by a mic before too long, but not before HQ cut his teeth in real competition. He writes of this, “I used to rap battle, then in high school I started a group called Lotto Family. That's when I knew that I was born to travel the world performing my music.”

HQ (High Quality) is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur from Brooklyn, New York. He is the CEO of Still Young Records, which he started in February 2010. His “H for Hierarchy” LP, which is hosted by Coast2CoastMixtapes, has been downloaded more than 500,000 times and still counting. HQ currently lives in Atlanta, GA.

“Go Deeper” by HQ is available online worldwide.

The Michael Wood Band releases new LP 'Rubble Town'

Canadian rock crew the Michael Wood Band have released their long-awaited LP album, “Rubble Town.” The album contains eight original tracks and represents the definitive Michael Wood Band experience so far. It has been proudly published on the eponymous Michael Wood Band independent music label outside the influence of the corporate music industry. Part pop, part alternative rock, part contemporary rock and distinguished by the raw, genuine character of the band's sound and style, “Rubble Town” by the Michael Wood Band is a record rock fans of all ages will agree on.

Bandleader Michael Wood cites as main artistic influences a spread of indie-pop and rock bands such as Hey Rosetta, Kings of Leon, the Killers, Tragically Hip, Arctic Monkeys, and Foster the People. Like the music of these mainstream heroes, Wood's songs are catchy, evocative, and written with an unfailing good taste which endears audiences to his music instantly.

However, beneath the surface of what at first listen sounds like simple pop runs an audible undercurrent of punk-rock principle and emotional power. This emerges in the naked honesty of Wood's lyrics, the minimalist approach to his rock composition, and especially in the one-two punch of songs like “Cowards a Question,” which opens their new record, and their extremely popular single and music video, “End of the World.”

The combined impact of these attributes is undeniable, as one can easily tell from their calendar of scheduled appearances (viewable on their official website, link provided below). In the earnest tradition of hardworking professional rockers everywhere, the Michael Wood Band manages to play live at pubs, festivals, charity gigs etc. twice and thrice weekly, sometimes all on the same weekend. Clearly, the MWB are in quite some demand.

Asked to describe his start in music, Wood muses over humble beginnings.

“As a 10-year old, we had a crappy neighbourhood guitar that we shared. Thomas Bobbin taught me how to play 'Smoke on the Water' and I was hooked.”

Consistent with the direct voice he uses to speak through his songs, the themes of his songs are also plain to see (hear).

“I write mostly about real life experiences,” he explains. “They may or may not have been mine. They could have happened to you.”

This last may be the key quality of the Michael Wood Band's “Rubble Town.” A room full of persons listening to this music together listens together, by God, drawn inward and forward toward a sound and sensation they all understand. This music has a social effect as well as a personal one – and the feeling is warm, alive, thriving and true.

“Rubble Town” by the Michael Wood Band is available online worldwide. Get in early, rock and pop fans. Very early.

Musician Rob Simmons releases new EP 'Recuerdos de Sa Calobra'

The composer and performer known as Rob Simmons has released his new EP record, “Recuerdos de Sa Calobra.” The EP has been proudly published on the TTM Records independent music label. The album is largely instrumental, boasts a broad variety of moods, tones and tempos, and has been cataloged most frequently as progressive rock at online music stores around the world. Inventive, majestic, painted in dazzling sonic color and expressing a palpable, personal narrative, “Recuerdos de Sa Calobra” by Rob Simmons is a fascinating and accessible wonder of modern music for fans of any genre.

Rob Simmons cites as main artistic influences the ingenious UK prog- rock band, Sky, Dire Straits mastermind Mark Knopfler, and the classical music genre. His own record, “Recuerdos de Sa Calobra,” (“Memories of Sa Calobra,” a village on the isle of Majorca) boasts many of the best qualities of Sky and of Knopfler, and of classical compositions, too. Perhaps most of all, it showcases Simmons' knack for making every song a kind of musical book, each complete with individual chapters, characters, storylines and styles. That said, “Recuerdos de Sa Calobra” belongs wholly to rock music and not to classical or jazz, and rock fans are perhaps most likely to enjoy Simmons' music though it has many attributes which will endear it to fans of other music styles, also.

Simmons' start in music came earlier than it does for many artists, thanks to relatives who likely saw the potential in him and helped nurture the skills which bear fruit such as his “Recuerdos...” EP.

“I come from a very musical family,” Simmons writes. “I was taught Piano at five by Grandmother, and from the age of six was fascinated by recording.”

Simmons penned his first compositions at the age of seven after receiving his first keyboard, a Bontempi. He was trained in drums and percussion at 12. He didn't arrive at the guitar until the age of 14, on which instrument he is an autodidact.

Asked to describe the overall theme and inspiration of his new EP record, Simmons writes, “My love for beautiful music, coming from within; my personal demons and experiences put to the rhythm of life.”

Rob Simmons has written music commercially and for short films. He has a degree in music composition for media and spends most of his time writing and composing in his music studio. All the instruments in his music are played by himself, with vocals by friends and associates. His collection of guitars and keyboards is considerable. His prize instrument is the same 1930s-era upright piano on which his first lessons were practiced.

“Recuerdos de Sa Calobra” by Rob Simmons is available online worldwide.
