The Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist known as Rick Ivanoff has released his latest LP record, “Rick Ivanoff – a Collection.” The self-titled record comprises eight original tracks for an approximate total listening time of half an hour. It has been proudly published on the Dog Star Music independent record label without support from the corporate music industry. Full of unstoppable hooks and widely varied pop songwriting, “Rick Ivanoff – a Collection” is the definitive Ivanoff music experience.
Rick Ivanoff cites as main artistic influences such classic rock and pop groups as the Byrds, the Eagles, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Blue Rodeo, Poco, CSNY, Pure Prairie League, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Garth Brooks, Dan Fogelberg, Joni Mitchell, and Rob Thomas. As a natural result, Ivanoff's own music is written with a surprisingly broad array of textures, styles and tones. His new “Collection” LP showcases him in many such forms, sometimes more rock, other times tinged with a hint of folk or country, and occasionally founded on rolling piano accompaniment that rings reminiscently of Billy Joel.
Speaking of the themes of his songs on “Rick Ivanoff – a Collection,” he writes:
“My album contains songs that are fun, serious and intelligent. They touch different subjects from UFOs and aliens to finding love, losing love and not giving up on your dreams.
“I believe that we all need to help and nurture each other so that we can realize our own potential both individually and as a whole. Even though we are all different, we are all humans will feelings. We all came into the world the same way. We all laugh, cry, hurt, rejoice, celebrate and love. Love is the answer!”
Ivanoff is a veteran guitar player and natural songwriting talent. He publishes original instrumental tracks for various production music libraries, and his tracks are licensed by music supervisors and producers on a regular basis. He has performed live on “Breakfast Television” in Toronto and “Global News at Noon,” a nationally broadcast program, and his official music videos have been shown on CMT. His songs have been recorded by both Canadian and United-States artists, and have been used in television.
He has worked and recorded with such music titans as Michael Fonfara (Foreigner, Electric Flag, Rhinoceros), Joe Mavety (Maryanne Faithful, Joe Cocker), Rick Gratton (Rough Trade, Ian Thomas), Joe Agnello (Cameo Blues Band, David Wilcox), Tony Lester (Boys Brigade, Arson) and many others.
