The Euro-Canadian singer and songwriter
known as Dianca Denay has released her new LP record, “Halo the
Painkiller, No. 2.” The album contains 14 original Dianca Denay
tracks for an approximate total listening time of one hour. The LP
has been proudly published on the Panther Records independent music
label outside the influence of the corporate music industry.
Colorfully creative, full of bass-driven back beats and characterized
by an overarching feminine mystique, “Halo the Painkiller, No. 2”
is a clear sign that Dianca Denay has arrived.
Dianca Denay cites as main artistic
influences a surprising array of various sounds, including music by
Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Lil' Kim, Tupac Shakur, Jay-Z, Abba,
Liona Boyd and others. Her “Halo the Painkiller, No. 2” record is
the followup to her debut EP album, “Halo the Painkiller,” which
appeared in 2010. “Halo the Painkiller, No. 2” is therefore her
debut full-length release and the most significant musical milestone
of Denay's repertoire to date.
Dianca Denay's LP is best described as
electronica or euro-house music, but its main feature is the singing
of Denay, herself. Each of the record's songs sports plenty of vocals
with the exception of its closing instrumental. These are wrapped
around carefully constructed lyrics concerning a broad variety of
topics. Some songs are socially conscientious, others more intimate,
while still others seem deeply personal in nature.
Asked to comment on the themes of her
new LP, Denay writes, “Some of my songs such as 'Painkiller,'
'Pulse' and 'Addictions' provide a metaphor of surviving against all
odds and overcoming adversity. I would like to help raise
understanding and awareness around life challenges that are so
prevalent, such as bullying, addictions and other types of struggles.
I want to help show how people can get the supports they need to cope
and to spread the message that there is hope.”
Denay's current official bio describes
her music as weaving “elements of inspiration, tragedy, pain and
perseverance into original songs with sounds of pop, hip hop, dance
and European world flavours.”
A second full-length Dianca Denay album
is already in the works under the title, “Uno.” Her online fan
base is burgeoning with over 75K followers as of today, her album
having only just been released. She has a cluster of official music
videos on her YouTube channel, also, each of which has been played
thousands of times.
She is often quoted as saying, “All
it takes is just one person to believe in you even if that one person
is yourself.”
