Jason Carroll and the Smooth Jazz
Symphony have released their latest full-length record, “2 Smooth.”
The album contains 12 original tracks for an approximate total
listening time nearing a full hour. It has been proudly published on
the Titanium Note Records Inc. independent record label. A
contemporary jazz record showcasing the masterful playing of Jason
Carroll and his equally expert associates, the “2 Smooth” LP is
easily one of the best jazz records to be released in recent memory.
Jason Carroll and the Smooth Jazz
Symphony's “2 Smooth” is certainly rooted in the subgenre of
smooth jazz, but fans of jazz fusion are also certain to appreciate
this sparkling achievement of a release. To get an idea of what the
listener can expect, Carroll cites as personal influences such
legends as Norman Brown, Brian Culbertson, Wayman Tisdale, Lee
Ritenour, Pieces of a Dream, and Paul Hardcastle “to name a few.”
As one might glean from this
distinguished roster, Carroll is himself a jazz player of taste and
distinction, an attribute which is evident in the nuanced textures,
intuitive phrases and consistently natural flows in his songs. These
talents come not only from his classical training in music, but also
from his family background.
“My father would sit me on his lap
while he played drums when I was only two,” writes Carroll. “Later,
my parents started me early by buying me a keyboard when I was eight
years old. From there, I began to take lessons, play songs, and write
songs. I later picked up guitar and bass as I got older.”
Asked to enlarge upon the intended
goals and themes of his “2 Smooth” album with the Smooth Jazz
Symphony, Carroll answers in terms audiophiles don't hear often
enough:
“It's not simply about the notes played, the melodies, or the rhythm. Listeners should not simply hear the music, they should feel it. I hope that my music inspires people, brings some sort of emotion from them, and encourages them to be who they were truly meant to be.”

[The following comes directly from
Jason Carroll's current official bio.]
Jason Carroll is a contemporary jazz
producer and multi-instrumentalist who has worked with numerous
artists and musicians in many genres of music. Originating from
Wichita, Kansas, Carroll grew up in a musical home, beginning his
journey as a drummer at the ripe age of only two years old. He would
later take up piano under the instruction of his mother, the late
Barbara Carroll, a classical pianist and artist. Soon afterward, he
studied the bass and guitar and began experimenting with recording
and arranging compositions in his late teens.
Today, Carroll produces for and
collaborates with smooth jazz artists from around the country. Many
people mistake his solo work for collaborations as he is known to
play multiple instruments well. His style of production is commonly
held as versatile, being able to go from smooth and sultry to hip
with effortless ability. His versatility and trendiness are what make
him a sought-after, up-and-coming producer, songwriter, and artist
within the genre of smooth jazz.
