The DJ, composer and producer of
digital music known as Rico “The Politician” Sanchez has released
his latest single, “Thunderbird.” The track has been published in
two versions, edited for radio and an extended-play edition. Both
have been proudly released independent of support from the corporate
music industry on the Last Nights DJ music label. A spacious, titanic
electronic dance song with elements of both old-school house music
and contemporary, cutting-edge styles, “Thunderbird” stands as
proof that the Politician has finally arrived.
Rico Sanchez describes his
“Thunderbird” single as “a big-room, festival track inspired by
Native American folklore regarding the menacing legends of the
so-called Thunder Bird, and its thunderous sound when it flew through
the skies. I imagined this bird terrorizing any major city in today’s
world and tried to make this sound come alive through my production,
gathering inspiration not only from the hard, pounding synths but the
momentum of it owning the skies.”
A veteran of the DJ underground for
more than 17 years, Sanchez is no newcomer. He cites as main artistic
influences such legends of the turntables as David Guetta, Justice,
Steve Aoki, Knife Party, Bad Boy Bill, Designer Drugs, Benny Benassi,
UTKU, Dave Spoon, Axwell, and Calvin Harris. His own sound takes
enough cues from these to make his new single “Thunderbird” very
attractive to fans of the above, but retains also a unique flavor all
his own.
Sanchez has performed all over the
world, including locales like New York, India, Australia, and
Florida. His professional name, “the Politician,” comes from his
reputation for welcoming celebrities and high-profile socialites to
performances on his guest list, and for his knack for leading
party-goers through the roof. When he's not composing his own music,
he spins for dance parties everywhere there is music.
