FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
The singer and songwriter from
California known as Valerie JanLois has re-released her two popular
albums, “No Drop of Love (Is Ever Wasted)” and “dos.” The LPs
each have an approximate listening time of 40 minutes and contain 12
and 13 original songs respectively. Categorized as pop and adult
contemporary music, these full-length records showcase Valerie
JanLois as a performer deserving much recognition.
JanLois cites as main artistic
influences such performers as the Beatles, Anita Baker, James Brown,
Pavarotti, Nat King Cole, Eileen Squillo, and birds. Elements of each
may be easily perceived in her
songwriting and vocal delivery.
One reviewer has described Valerie's
voice as a cross between Patsy Cline and Ella Fitzgerald. Although an
undertone of jazz runs through her albums, many other styles go into
making her sound. Attributes of East-Indian, Latin, folk, rock,
reggae, funk and even country music intertwine to make an amalgam
that has something for everyone and is chock-full of surprises.
“Music has always been like a straw
into the deepest part of me,” JanLois says of her musical
motivations. “Even as a child, when I was singing, I was floating
on waves of bliss. But when the music was cut off – I just wanted
to get that feeling back.”
Perhaps more prevalent than anything
else in her repertoire are themes of transcending. The artist
considers Transcendental Meditation one of the turning points in her
life as well as her music career.
When she learned to meditate, she
writes, “Everything changed. It was an 'a-ha!' moment. Here was a
way to find the bliss I felt when I was making music, to begin to
live it all the time. That straw into my soul just dissolved into the
ocean of life.”
When she isn't recording music with
some of the best instrumentalists the world has to offer, Valerie
JanLois teaches Transcendental Meditation to hundreds of budding
practitioners around the United
States. Collaborating with her on “No
Drop of Love” and “dos” are such master players as Dave Tweedie
(drums), Jon Evans (bass), Gawain Mathews (guitar, mandolin,
mandola), Julie Wolf (keyboards), Ellen Hoffman (piano), Rich
Armstrong and Marty Wehner (horns), Karl Perazzo (percussion), David
Balakrishnan (violin), Mark Summer (cello), and Paul McCandless
(oboe).
“No Drop of Love (Is Ever Wasted)”
and “dos” are available online worldwide. Get in early.
