GrooveShine releases debut self-titled album

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

The funk-flavored reggae band from California known as GrooveShine have released their debut self-titled LP record, “GrooveShine.” The album is comprised of 15 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 45 minutes. The crew have proudly published the record independent of support from major music labels. An upbeat, celebratory feel-good album with hooks galore and rhythm to spare, “GrooveShine” is perfectly named and a sonic delight from start to finish.

GrooveShine cite as main artistic influences Jimmy Page, Dr. Dre, J Dilla, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, A Tribe Called Quest, James Brown, and Ernest Ranglin. The list reads like a recipe for their sound, which is rich in roots reggae with a healthy portion of funk and a dash of hip hop. An acoustic singer-songwriter's sound is overlain throughout, with the result that “GrooveShine” works equally well as background music, singalong music, or as a subject for attentive listening by the true audiophile.

In addition to the (rather large) band's regular and numerous talents, the “GrooveShine” LP also features the skills of Michelle Williams, who sings on four of the album's songs. It also features a cameo appearance by Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters, the Wallflowers) playing keyboard on the record's closing track, “All the Ways of Love.”

“The song is different from the rest of the album, as it is not beat-based,” writes GrooveShine of Jaffee's performance. “However, Jaffee’s melodic keyboards and synth strings move the message of the song beautifully.”

GrooveShine hails from the sunny seaside town of Santa Barbara. It was assembled by producer and songwriter, Mike Mchugh (not to be confused with Mike McHugh of the Distillery music studio in Costa Mesa). Lyrical themes on “GrooveShine” are sometimes introspective, often humorous, and occasionally socially conscientious. GrooveShine also stands out for being one of the remarkably few music groups to sport their own software application, the GrooveShine App, available free from Apple and Google Play stores. The GrooveShine App provides fans with music, videos, and an updated show schedule.

“GrooveShine” by GrooveShine is available online worldwide.
