The rapper, songwriter and producer of
hip hop known as Chris Wisdom has released his latest LP album,
“Sick-0-cell.” The record comprises 15 original tracks for an
approximate total listening time of 40 minutes. It has been proudly
published on the SpeakToMyFuture Inc. independent music label without
the financial or managerial support of the corporate music industry.
In addition to the talents of Chris Wisdom, himself, “Sick-0-cell”
also features appearances by such heavy hitters in the hip-hop
underground as Nikki Kemp and Joel Marcellus. Groundbreaking,
dynamic, written with razor-sharp wit and holding true to the best
principles of the old-school sound, “Sick-0-cell” by Chris Wisdom
is a surefire rap record for spring 2015.
Chris Wisdom cites as main artistic
influences such giants as Outkast, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem,
Tupac Shakur, the Notorious B.I.G., T.I., Goodie Mob, Nas, Trick
Daddy, Rick Ross, Linkin Park, Big Sean, Hillsong, and the Vous. His
own sound and style come from a cross reference of these, with lyrics
born of urban poetry not unlike those of Tupac, Eminem and Kendrick
Lamar, yet with a unique spin not before heard from the Miami, FL
area from which Wisdom comes.
A veteran of the hip-hop scene, Chris
Wisdom can't see himself apart from it, so much has his life grown
braided with rhymes and lines.
“I been writing since I was 11 years
old,” says Wisdom of this. “Started touring different Miami Dade
County high schools at 14. I've been writing poetry and raps ever
since. Music has always been a part of my life. It's my air.”
Asked to describe the overall theme of
his new record, “Sick-0-cell,” Wisdom doesn't have to think
twice.
“Nothing is impossible,” he says. “Regardless of where or how you were born, you can stand strong and fight whatever comes your way.”
“Nothing is impossible,” he says. “Regardless of where or how you were born, you can stand strong and fight whatever comes your way.”
This sort of empowerment is indicative
of the uplifting messages with which Chris Wisdom often infuses his
music.
“We are all royalty,” he says. “If
you fight long enough, others will be inspired and fight alongside of
you. Your stand becomes a movement when you move with those that are
standing. It's all love.”
Chris Wisdom is a two-time champion of
the Assembly of God State of Florida Fine Arts Kappa Tau Spoken Word
Championship, as well as the Assembly's National Champion and the
coach of no fewer
than four individual Assembly of God
State of Florida Fine Arts Youth Spoken Word champions.
“Sick-0-cell” by Chris Wisdom
becomes available to the public online worldwide beginning 21 May
