Rapper King Shabazz releases new single 'My Day'

The rapper and performer of hip hop known as King Shabazz has released his latest official single, “My Day.” The single has been produced by Chill and released as an independent track outside the influence of the corporate music industry. Inspirational, heavy-hitting, and performed to a laid-back back beat that's full of groove and bass, “My Day” is the King Shabazz single his fans have been clamoring for.

Asked to cite some main artistic influences, King Shabazz lays down a personal Top 10.

He writes, “My active artist influences are 50 Cent, Drake, Lecrae, Talib Kweli, Trip Lee, Aloe Blacc, Usher, Chris Brown, Lupe Fiasco, and Mega Ran.”

Shabazz's own sound takes cues from each of these and mixes them into a new style of hip hop, one which has a uniquely East-Coast sound. Of particular importance to “My Day” are King Shabazz's lyrics, which the artist meticulously crafts into his signature brand of urban poetry.

“My song is meant to inspire and motivate those who listen to it to get up, believe in themselves, and go get what they want,” writes King Shabazz. “I want those who listen to learn not to waste any day because life is too short and we all have the power to make our day as great or as horrible as we choose.”

King Shabazz hails from Laurens, SC, and has been called “The Hip-Hop Traveler.” Shabazz penned his first song at the age of 12 and has previously performed under the “Soull Tha Phenom” alias as well as his real name, Rassoull Shabazz. Shabazz published his first unofficial album, “A.U.E. Presents… Arts & Dreams” in 2013, followed by a second unofficial album, “C.A.S.H.” in 2014. Several mixtapes have also been released from the artist over the years.

Shabazz has been featured on the PBS Kids network (Ball State University's Electronic Field Trip, “Going Going Faster”), in Makin' It Magazine, and on Wolfpack Ent. Blogtalk Radio. His latest mixtape, “Take the Throne” stems from the same principles which inform his new “My Day” single. His current official bio places him in Okinawa, Japan, “grinding hard, traveling, and performing for the local citizens of the Island,” explaining that “Shabazz aims to empower listeners with the ability to believe in themselves, help others, have fun, and never give up.”

“My aim is to travel the world doing what I love and to inspire as many people as possible to do the same,” writes King Shabazz.

Since 2013 Shabazz has traveled to six countries and is planning to perform in the United Kingdom next.
