Miguel Freiles, a singer and composer
of electronic dance music, has released his latest flagship
long-playing record album, “Driven to My Dream,” on the Riviera
Beat Music record label. The album contains 15 original dance tracks
for a full 55 minutes of listening time. “Driven...” is not a
record that can easily be listened to without moving to its beat,
however.
Freiles himself performs the vocals for
the album in his own, inimitable style that is not too unlike the
singing of Interpol's Paul Banks (see “Evil”). Nonetheless, his
insanely infectious tone and natural singing voice, although
startling at first in its originality, is in the end perhaps his
music's most gorgeous quality. A song on the album without Freiles
singing would be disappointing; it is good, therefore, that no such
track exists on his record. Freiles is also the artist responsible
for the extremely catchy arrangements of the electronic drums and
percussion, as well as all synthesized accompaniment on the record.
Of the album's 15 tracks, three have
remixes that follow immediately after them, being “Rock It Out,”
“10,000 Miles” and the title track, “Driven to My Dream.”
These remixes are entirely individual in their own right and sound
wonderful coming up right after their main iterations, particularly
in a dance hall situation, in which the music does not sound so much
remixed as it does enlarged upon.
Concerning the message Freiles has for
his listening public, he writes simply and in earnest, “Enjoy life.
Dance and have fun. Anything is possible.” This last comment is
certainly true for Freiles, himself, whose album is not so much a
creative title as it is an assertion of his artistic ambitions, the
same ambitions which are hereby realized in the high-quality
collection of songs known as “Driven to My Dream.”
“Driven to My Dream” by Miguel
Freiles is available online worldwide beginning March 1, 2013, on
