The rap artist from Toronto, Canada
known as The Marsonist has released his latest hip-hip single,
titled, “Get Em,” featuring Young Noble from Outlawz. The track
is available in both an explicit edition and a version edited for
radio. It represents the most capital official release from The
Marsonist since his 2012 single release, "Rockstar," which
featured fellow Canadian rapper, Choclair. “Get Em” is full of
the same brutal power and arresting energy that made “Rockstar”
an instant classic across North America and overseas via Internet
radio.
Although both “Get Em” and
“Rockstar” are true urban anthems, “Get Em” is the more
traditionally so. It utilizes digital instrumentation that is
reminiscent of artists like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Tupac Shakur,
and although it takes many creative twists and turns – like all
Marsonist music – its foundation is bare-bones hip hop through and
through, from start to finish.
Often hosted by popular hip-hop
kingpin, DJ Disspare (StreetKillaz, Coast2Coast DJs), The Marsonist's
music is expert poetry spat to viciously composed beats and melodies.
The production of his sound is perfect, with every level sounding as
if it were at volume 10, yet never feeling overwrought or
overproduced.
The Marsonist's lyrics pull no punches,
and his use of vernacular shows him to be a great proponent of
freedom of speech. His quick-witted lines are often crass, often
funny, and always show a great deal of forethought and intelligence.
He picks relevant themes to speak about, and wastes little time
talking about the tired, old hip hop cliches.
Regarding the themes of “Get Em,”
The Marsonist writes, “The song is based around the theme, 'Fight
for your money.' If you want something, you gotta work hard and make
it happen yourself. Success doesn't come easy. The song is
inspirational.”
“Get Em” by The Marsonist is
available online everywhere beginning spring 2013.
