The artist known as Tripple Los has released his newest LP album, titled, “Off the Rock,” on the Pinky N Thumb Entertainment record label. The record consists of seven all new and original Tripple Los tracks, including a radio remix of the single, “That Way,” which closes the record. Besides the artist, himself, “Off the Rock” also features the talents of Kahnma, Sister Lubei, Billy Blue, and longtime Los friend and collaborator, Tha Happ. It has an approximate playing time of 25 minutes' worth of excellent, island-inspired rap music of a kind no one at all could have produced on the mainland.
Tripple Los is a rapper based in Hawaii, giving his music a powerful undercurrent of good vibrations beneath a layer of urban poetry that could otherwise have come from Chicago or Detroit. In fact, Los was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, but has been on the Pacific islands for quite some time. His personal history is reflected in the themes of his record.
“My message is simple,” he writes. “[My album is about] real life, and good-feeling music coming from out the middle of the Pacific . I live in Oahu, so for my album I wanted to give out a positive, yet edgy vibe and feeling!”
In these goals Tripple Los has surpassed himself. The heavy-hitting rap lines and back beats are decorated with optimism that only islanders experience on a daily basis. Even the name of the album's record label, “Pinky N Thumb,” may be derived from a local island tradition called the “shaka” or “hang loose” hand signal, which Wikipedia states is commonly used to communicate the “aloha spirit.”
Los, who writes all of his own music, first released a debut mixtape in 2010, titled, “Reflectionz,” which featured Keith Murray and Drew Deezy, being hosted by DJ Smokey Bear and recognized on the popoular music blog, “Dat Piff.”
He was later nominated by the 2012 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for Best Hip Hop Artist of the Year. This was the first year the category had been instituted, and Tripple Los names it among his proudest achievements to date, though with the publishing of his latest, greatest release, “Off the Rock,” chances are that his nomination will surely become the award, itself, in very short time.
The excellent and remarkable title, “Off the Rock” by Tripple Los, is available online worldwide beginning spring 2013.
