HDot releases new single 'I Am Me'

The musician known as HDot has released her newest official single, titled, “I Am Me.” The song is a dancehall anthem with a hip hop heart that features HDot at her finest. A true, original standout against a sea of bandwagon performers, HDot is an iconoclastic artist who is sure to challenge conventions and speak from her heart for years to come, and “I Am Me” represents her global introduction.

HDot's single is a thumping, rhythmic song driven by synthesized drum and percussion and led by the inimitable HDot herself. HDot's vocals are womanly, brash and proud, often very amusing, and steeped in HDot's own feisty character. Her rap is delivered in a conversational, cocktail-party tone filled with attitude. This is punctuated by singing that is cool, casual, and very pretty to hear, though HDot's unadorned style is neither flashy nor ostentatious. All in all, “I Am Me” is a fun, vivacious and daring debut for HDot, and one that is sure to garner much attention in the coming months.

Concerning the themes of the song, which are evocative and risque, HDot speaks as frankly as ever. She writes that the message of “I Am Me” is to, “Embrace your beauty, flaws, strengths and weaknesses. Empower oneself by any means necessary, and create one's own destiny. Be an individual, and do not move through life within the confines of societal boundaries, because then you’re only alive, and not living.”

HDot's musical experience is extensive. She has worked with legends such as Korn and 50 Cent (with whom she toured nationally) and has worked also with the popular Swedish band, Infinite Mass.

She names as main artistic influences the likes of Citizen Cope, Kanye West, Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner, Nas, DMX, Tupac Shakur, and Fela Kuti.
