Cabaret singer Andrea Canny releases new LP 'Cab Fab'

The chanteuse of the Orlando, FL, stage known as Andrea Canny has released her new collection of standout recordings, titled, “Cab Fab,” to widespread critical and fan acclaim. The album is comprised of 14 tracks for a total of 47 minutes' worth of Broadway-quality entertainment, and has been published on the Diamond Rocks music label. In addition to the towering talents of Canny herself, “Cab Fab” also features the fantastic singing of Michael Andrew and Trudie Petersen.

Canny's selections on “Cab Fab” are largely taken from the very best American stage musicals, such as “The Last Five Years,” “Guys and Dolls,” and “Wicked,” but also include jazz standards such as “Skylark,” and the occasional crossover, such as “Embraceable You” (a George and Ira Gershwin title first published for “Girl Crazy,” but mainly popularized by Billie Holiday). Canny's vocals on the record are astonishingly precise without being overwrought, seamlessly translating her vast stage experience into a flawless studio performance that brims with imagery and character. The overall tone is colorful and vivacious, sassy and smart, but most of all “Cab Fab” is endlessly, enormously fun.

Andrea Canny's staggering excellence comes from a storied and wildly successful 28 years in song and stage. She has performed outside the US in Europe and Asia, and has worked with such legends as Jerry Orbach, Celine Dion, Leah Salonga, and Betty White. She names as main artistic influences the likes of such artists as Elaine Paige (“Cats,” “Chess,” “Sunset Boulevard”), Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, Linda Eder, and Carol Burnett.

Canny is perhaps best known for her roles in “Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage” and “Guys and Dolls,” but frequently also performs in various capacities at Walt Disney World. She is also noted for her tireless fund-raising efforts, which she consistently dedicates to a bevy of philanthropic organizations nationwide.
