The new pop singer from the United
Kingdom known as Siiren has released her capital new single, “Skank
It” to resounding critical and fan applause. The single has been
released with a sexy and vibrant official video that has had hip hop
fans talking since its release in late spring of this year both in
Europe and the United States. It features the stylish moves and
inviting charisma of Siiren herself, as well as the beats, melodies
and lines of her high-impact, wonderfully danceable new single. The
combination of these excellently showcases both her fantastic
songwriting and remarkable performance talents.
Siiren may be a new name for many
audiophiles, but the fun-loving dancer and chanteuse is hardly new to
the scene.
She writes of her music career, “Music
started for me at 14 years old when I discovered by picking up a pen
that I had fallen in love with songwriting.”
She cites as main artistic influences
the likes of Jessie J, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Madonna, and
Lady GaGa. Her own music reflects lessons learned from all of them.
In addition to the best qualities of these, “Skank It” is also
reminiscent of work by singers such as Cher, Paula Abdul and Janet
Jackson, the latter of whom Siiren even resembles in a modern way.
“I grew up with much of the '80s pop
sound,” she writes, “which had a great influence on my musical
development.”
It should come as no surprise,
therefore, that her devil-may-care attitude is also not unlike that
of her favorite singers. She comments, “I of course naturally
gravitate to that kind of sound which is super-carefree and amazingly
has this deep, feel-good factor. It's something that you never ever
forget once it's into your veins.”
Siiren's single, “Skank It,” revolves around themes of self-expression.
“It could be through dance, the way
you dress, or by the way you move or talk,” Siiren says. “You can
be anything you want to be but most importantly be yourself, and
enjoy who are. Feel liberated.”
