The rap artist known as Czheck has released his newest long-playing album, titled, “Czheck 4 President.” The record is Czheck's fourth official album release to date, and almost certainly the most significant album by the up and coming underground performer yet. The “Czheck 4 President” album is a gargantuan feat from one of the scene's most talented and prolific street poets, containing fully 20 original tracks for a stunning, whopping, 85 minutes' worth of top-notch listening.
This will not surprise Czheck's fans, however, who visit the Czheck Productions webpage at ReverbNation in droves to hear the more than 300 songs available for listening there. This is enough original recorded material to publish more than 12 traditional full-length record albums, the same number of records released by Snoop Dogg over the 20 years of his career.
Czheck's wordplay on “Czheck 4 President” is magnificent. He excels at turning phrases backward and forward, using poetic devices such as alliteration, assonance and consonance with seemingly natural reflex. His themes vary widely, some of them personal, others highly philosophical, often ranging into social issues and tales of the modern urban struggle. Czheck's record is also a remarkably melodic album behind the gorgeous rhymes and lines, however. The music changes in incredibly diverse ways throughout the hour-and-a-half of playing time, and can be heavy-hitting and dark, or jazzy and lighthearted, but always exceptionally beautiful, a trait few rap albums can boast of.
The high quality of music is an attribute stemming from Czheck's personal artistic integrity. He says of his new album that he wanted “to make a classic 'hip hop' album something that had not been done recently.” He carefully sculpted it to be “chill hip hop soul in the middle of sound.” He has said that he considers it conscious, reflective hip hop, music that is trying to find self-meaning. He also tried to make what he calls “classic hip hop in this watered-down modern era.”
“The mission for the album was to not have any songs on the album that listeners would skip,” he writes. “I wanted to connect to the fans in a modest way...'I'm better than you' is the only thing [fans of rap music] hear these days.”
Czheck names as main influences the likes of Jay-Z, 9th Wonder, DJ Premier, Guru, Big L, Hieroglyphics, Mr. Lif, and Rush.
“I got beat making software as a present on Christmas,” he writes, “and never looked back. Some days I'd make five beats in one sitting. I was a big fan of Jay-Z early on and started writing rap songs and showing them to anybody who would listen.”
