Adrian Dickey releases new LP 'Bless the Soul'

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

The singer-songwriter from Tupelo, Mississippi known as Adrian Dickey has released his long-awaited debut LP record, titled, “Bless the Soul.” It has been independently released by Dickey with the help of a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign, which closed in June having exceeded its stated goal by more than 45%, its average backer donating a whopping $55 USD to help place “Bless the Soul” on music shelves everywhere. The record is comprised of 10 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 40 minutes.

One of a very, very few composers and performers of modern soul music, Adrian Dickey cites as main artistic influences artists like Alabama Shakes, Amy Winehouse, Amos Lee, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, and the Temptations. Intuitively, his music has all the groove, tone, and other attributes of a '60s-era soul record, right down to album art that exactly recalls record sleeves of the genre and era.

“It's a good dose of some Alabama Shakes meets Amy Winehouse, and a little St. Paul and the Broken Bones,” Dickey's representative writes. “Creating a modern day soul record with echos from the Motown / Stax eras, Adrian has successfully brought back that feel-good sound that will truly bless your soul.”

Dickey himself writes of his early musical career, “I started out on my dad's 1967 Fender Jazz Bass guitar touring as the bassist for singer-songwriter Sanders Bohlke, then branched off and began writing my own music.”

Since that time, he has toured with such popular artists as The Fray, Mat Kearney, and Jason Mraz. His band, Avenue Hearts, garnered him two awards, one out of Nashville for his single track, “Hold On,” and an honorable mention from the World Billboard Song Contest for “Strangers.” He has stated that writing and performing “Bless the Soul” has helped shape his own definitive feel and style.

“Adrian Dickey has always surprised people with a beautiful voice and strong songwriting,” his official bio reads. “But in a don’t-call-it-a-comeback-style run for this Tupelo native, we’re getting a lot more than that. We’re getting layered compositions, dips into new genres, and a generally more mature and more complex sound. And then there’s back-up harmonies with the hill country’s best gospel groups. His turn back onto the stage has been gentle and homegrown. This natural, simple progression has led him to a new album and new paths that seem understatedly sunny.”

“Bless the Soul” by Adrian Dickey is available online worldwide beginning 9 November 2013.
