Pirate Signal release new EP 'The War of Art'

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

The rock ensemble from St. Louis, Missouri known as Pirate Signal have released their latest EP record album, titled, “The War of Art.” The album is comprised of four original tracks, “Kiss Me Like You Like It,” “We Don't Care,” “Salt on Wound,” and “Blood and Guns.” The album is their debut EP record and the most significant official release from Pirate Signal to date.

Pirate Signal have made several live appearances in the Chicago and St. Louis area to celebrate and publicize “The War of Art,” with more to come. A raw, rocking, bluesy, and indie-flavored album with aggression in its nerves and a ton of soul, “The War of Art” stands as an exclamation to the world that these musicians aren't here to play yesterday's rehashes.

Pirate Signal cite as main artistic influences legendary rock crews such as the Beatles, Foo Fighters, Black Keys, Led Zepplin, Radiohead, and Sigur Ros. Elements of each can be distinguished in Pirate Signal's own sound, but the end result is unique to them, alone.

Their official bio opens with the a-propos description, “With a name like Pirate Signal, many are left wondering what kind of music these four might play. Whereas 'alternative' was once used to describe every band, artist or group under the moon, this would be a good place to start.”

They write of the themes of their new album that there are several inherent messages for listeners to glean from it.

“Life is hard,” they write, “but you can make it. Take responsibility for yourself. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Love carelessly.”

Pirate Signal (not be confused with the alternative hip-hop outfit from Denver, CO) began with singer-guitarist Josh Halbower in 2008. Years of developing a strong lineup lead to his being joined by Keith Kettmann on guitar and keyboard, Nick Stergos on bass guitar, and AJ Martka on drums/percussion.

“The War of Art” by Pirate Signal is available online worldwide beginning 16 November 2013.
