The composers of electronica music
known as Wizards York have released their latest EP record album,
titled, “A2k.” The EP is comprised of three original tracks,
“About to Kick,” “Safari Break,” and “Supajoint,” and has
an approximate total listening time of 15 minutes. It is their most
prominent official release in many years, and features a new, warmly
analog tone that differs from their previous compositions as the
Wizards of Sound. An explosive, highly danceable trio of tracks with
innumerable hooks and infectious melodies, “A2k” stands as
irrefutable proof that Wizards York are an act to watch in the modern
EDM scene.
The style and groove of “A2k”
hearken to the fast-paced, live sound promulgated by artists such as
Fat Boy Slim in the early 2000s, but with a contemporary spin that
re-imagines traditional house music elements and includes a few
elements commonly found in dubstep. The result is a record that can
be played at nightclubs, house parties, on drives and in headphones.
Speaking of their artistic influences,
Wizards York write, “Anything can influence us to make our music!
From a sunny summer beach on the sea to the politicians fooling and
slaving the nations with their f**ked up democracies…” Pressed to
mention the names of artists, they reply, “There are too many of
them to start to mention. Varies from completely electronic music to
jazz, soul or even afro-.”
Wizards York were founded in year 1997
in Vilnius, capitol of Lithuania, as Wizards of Sound. Wizards of
Sound were Andrius Muraska, Gediminas Zavistauskas and Adomas
Derskus, and operated popularly until 2004 at clubs and in studios.
Their studio material was originally breakbeats, drum 'n' bass, and
hip hop, and their output was regularly spun on radio stations
throughout Lithuania. Reformed in 2011 by Muraska and Derskus as
Wizards York, they have released “A2k” as a proclamation that the
Wizards have returned.
They write, “The message of this EP
is simple. Wizards York are back with their new music and beats,
ready to rock the listeners' speakers and headphones! :)”
