Sara Kerr and Chris Connor release new singles 'He’ll Be There' and 'When You Smile'

The singing and songwriting team of Sara Kerr and Chris Connor have released two official singles, “He'll be There” and “When You Smile.” Both of the tracks are gorgeously, impeccably performed by Sara Kerr, and written with the uncanny flow and grace which fans of Chris Connor have come to expect from him.They have been co-written by Andy Haldane. These songs are stylized in the earnest, sonorous overtones of '60s-era soul, and each is easily excellent enough to stand beside the very best songs of the genre. In addition to being remarkable music for audiophiles everywhere, “He'll Be There” and “When You Smile” are being released as benefits, with all proceeds being shared equally between the Parkinson's UK and Shelter Scotland charities.

Sara Kerr is perhaps best known for heading the soul and mod music band, Button Up, since 2011.

She is well respected in the Glasgow, Scotland area for her stunning vocal clarity and powerful natural timbre. Her knack for classy articulation combined with passionate intonation are reminiscent of chanteuses such as Nancy Sinatra and Francoise Hardy.

Songwriter Chris Connor describes her: “She is also very much in demand as an accomplished session singer. This unassuming singer-songwriter delivers a powerful and soulful vocal performance, but prefers to stay out of the limelight.”

Connor himself, who is the creative force behind “He'll Be There” and “When You Smile,” cites as main artistic influences Bobby Womack, Luther Vandross and Bruno Mars. Singer Kerr lists Aretha Franklin, Soul to Soul and Elvis Presley. Intuitively, their music bears hallmarks of each of these legendary performers. A distinct and beautiful gospel thread runs through these singles, backed by a Stax and Motown ambiance in the studio production that polishes their finish to a high shine.

“'He’ll Be There' is an uplifting gospel song which features an amazing, soulful vocal performance from Sara Kerr,” Connor writes. “I wrote this song for anyone who is afraid, in pain or feels like giving up. 'When You Smile' is a cheerful, upbeat love-song with an infectious chorus, which I wrote for someone special in my life.”
