FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
The rockers from Los Angeles known as
Tijuana Bullfight have officially released their latest single,
titled, “Heaven.” The single is a cover of the song of the same
name originally recorded in 1983 by the Psychedelic Furs. The track
has been arranged and performed in Tijuana Bullfight’s signature
brand of sludge rock, consistent with both their new 2013 LP,
“Southern California,” and their popular 2008 self-titled debut
LP. “Heaven” is an excellent introduction to this spectacular
crew from Southern California for listeners not yet acquainted, and
recommended to fans of rock music of any genre.
Sludge rock is a subgenre of heavy
metal that shares roots in metal and punk rock music, and which also
often incorporates early '90s alternative music attributes from
grunge and “noise” rock. Its hotbed is generally considered to be
the New Orleans area. Now with two LPs and this standout new single,
“Heaven,” under their belt, Tijuana Bullfight have clearly
founded the “So Cal sludge” scene on the West Coast, and Los
Angeles has clearly embraced them.
Tijuana Bullfight cite as main artistic
influences such musicians as Nirvana, The Pixies, Failure, Queens of
the Stone Age, Black Sabbath, and the Foo fighters. Their
characteristic tone makes them absolutely suitable for a live lineup
that might include any or all of the above, and indeed their endless
creativity and unwavering knack for writing one powerful song after
another place them on the same top shelf of rock excellence.
The band's recent recordings have been
cut at Scott Weiland’s own Lavish Studios and the legendary
Entourage Studios, respectively. Producer/engineers on the project
include the late Mike Shipley (Van Halen, Def Leppard) and Rae Dileo
(Filter). Intuitively, the production on the new single and that of
their new LP cannot possibly be better, and bears the sonic feel of a
long-awaited record one has just stripped the cellophane from and has
excitedly begun to hear for the first time.
Fans of sludge rock, alt- rock, grunge,
punk, and rock 'n' roll in general have great reason to rejoice in
the publication of “Heaven,” as well as in the new Tijuana
Bullfight LP. Audiophiles everywhere are strongly encouraged to get
in early on this groundbreaking, heavy-hitting So. Cal. crew.
“Heaven” by Tijuana Bullfight is
available online worldwide.
