FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
The hard rock ensemble from Sydney,
Australia known as Enter Reality have released their debut
extended-play record, “00.6 EP,” which has been anxiously awaited
by a passionate and international fan base. The album is comprised of
six original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 22
minutes. Dark, brooding, violent and often stunningly beautiful, the
“00.6 EP” by Enter Reality is a harbinger of some very promising
things to come from these heavy hitters down under.
At first listen, the sound of Enter
Reality is characterized immediately by the delicate gorgeousness and
measured aggression of lead singer Rachel Holden. Her clarion
delivery and naturally crystalline timbre fly high above Enter
Reality's instrumentation, which seethes and surges below like the
depths of a serpent-infested ocean. The guitars (Adam Plimmer, Dan
Purdon) build a wall of sound that manages to stay in the lower
register while never becoming dull or uncreative. Loud, chunky and
thick as sheet metal, ER's guitars are complex and intelligent, every
song having something new in store for the guitar afficionado.
Also surprisingly prominent in the
Enter Reality experience is the melodic and remarkable work of Aaron
Cauchi on bass, whose active playing is reminiscent of Tool's best
material, and a mainstay of ER's sound. Drummer Kurt Sticker's
precision guides this expert crew like a conductor of classical
music, his staccato snare hits sounding sharp and punctuated, his
kick drums rumbling and ominous below. Sticker's orchestrated yet
riotous noise is full of speed and calculation, like a cross between
a machine gun and a sniper rifle.
The combined sound recalls Maynard
James Keenan's Y2K side project, A Perfect Circle. ER's official bio
states that, “Enter Reality draw their sound from Australian rock
bands such as Karnivool, Butterfly Effect and Dead Letter Circus, as
well as bands like Deftones and Staind.”
Nevertheless, when asked directly to
cite some main artistic influences, Enter Reality politely decline,
saying, “Artistically, we are influenced by the world around us
from a musical perspective. Drawing upon elements of rock, metal,
classical and progressive styles, we aim to create a unique
experience for the listener.”
The album has already raised eyebrows
from the heavy metal and alternative rock communities all over the
globe, and it is sure to catapult Enter Reality to new heights of
popularity. The audiophile would do well to get in early.
