Mnandi releases new LP record ‘Nice Is Never Enough’

The composer and rapper known only as Mnandi has released his newest LP record, “Nice is Never Enough,” to resounding fan and critical acclaim. The album is comprised of 15 original Mnandi tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes, making for a round and comprehensive introduction to the growing Mnandi repertoire of music. It is the most significant body of work to be officially released by the artist, and is his debut record on the Swazi Jive music label.

In addition to the expansive talents of Mnandi himself, “Nice Is Never Enough” also features the talents of Swazi Jive musicians and Mnandi friends such as Kikwa, Qibho, Lyriss, LO, YnV, and Ebz.

Having been asked to cite a few of his own main artistic influences, Mnandi names only two: Micheal Jackson and the Notorious B.I.G. Now a student of Oklahoma University with a major in advertising, he describes his musical roots as a lifelong, broadly sweeping chain of causes and effects that led to his signing with Swazi Jive, and the present publication of his new LP record.

“My love and involvement stems from a long line of external influences,” he writes, “such as family and friends. The desire to recreate and have some input in music as a whole resulted in my involvement.”

The themes and messages his record communicates to fans of hip hop and other audiophiles are introspective and personal, but also very sociological. The title of his record, “Nice Is Never Enough,” speaks loudly, clearly, and concisely, but it is also a clever acronym.

“It’s a combination of internal and external feelings expressed through metaphors,” Mnandi writes, “metaphors of what it meant to be who I was in the gap between when I was NINE and when the LP was released.”

Nine is the age at which Mnandi began rapping. He was born and raised in Swaziland, Southern Africa. He is also the composer of the hit hip-hop single, “Overload,” by the award-winning DJ and producer, Tendaness.
