FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
The singer and songwriter of hip hop
known as Justus has released her latest hit single, titled, “All I
Got.” The track has been released on the ever more well-respected
FNOmovement Records music label, headed by Leo the CEO. “All I Got”
is the most significant official release from Justus since her
explosive appearance on the scene with “Unstoppable,” released
late spring of this year, complete with a striking music video. Like
“Unstoppable” before it, “All I Got” is a socially
conscientious track with hip hop and R 'n' B elements, showcasing the
endlessly talented Justus as one of urban poetry's strongest and most
evocative performers recording today.
Justus, who hails from Cleveland, OH,
cites as main artistic influences Tupac Shakur, Chaka Khan, Anita
Baker, and Jay Z. Her own tracks evince attributes of these, as well
as those of other artists, such as Da Brat, Busta Rhymes, and KRS
One. Her trademark sound on “All I Got” combines old-school
groove with jazz-style class for a chill, cool ride on rock solid
beats and brilliantly timed lines and rhymes.
When asked to enlarge upon the themes
she raps about in “All I Got,” Justus speaks concisely and with
precision.
“[It's about] How a family struggles
in today’s world,” she writes. “I’m giving my views on the
politics of it all.”
Justus' views are not only equitable
and justified, but also well considered and important in today's
world.
“I’m bringing creativity and
substance back to rap and hip hop,” she has said. “Create your
own rules and stay in your own lane. It’s okay to be different.”
Incidentally, Justus also happens to be
a woman, but she doesn't make a point of bringing attention to
herself on this score. She doesn't have to. Her music speaks for
itself, and speaks very loudly.
“I want my listeners to know that I’m
a true emcee, and not just a female emcee,” she has commented.
“All I Got” by Justus is available
online worldwide beginning Sept. 8th, 2013.
